Thoughts? I'd love this hire if he is fired this year. I know it's a HUGE if btw.

I have never been a fan. His teams are soft and seem to lack the backbone to get things done. He also has always been a notoriously poor game manager.
I am sure he will be very popular, and he does have a good record, but not the guy I would want.Ophinerated likes this. -
I could learn to love that offense though.

NO NO NO I live in PA and watch this guy each week. He isn't the coach for us. He will never win a superbowl, and his coaching and talent eval are horrible. He lacks any emotion at all.. After every lose he just says well I have to get better. 10+ years later and hes saying the same **** without adjusting his style. Huge mistake if we do this HUGE!

Yes, he is an excellent coach with a knack for QBs.

A team taking a young Qb in the draft could do a lot worse Imho.

I just don't understand how we can be hoping for a guy that is coaching a floundering team packed with talent. The guys resume is on the television every week for us to see and his team is stinking up the place. What would be different if he came to Miami? What is holding him back in PHI that would allofasudden lead him to the promised land if he came to Miami?

Andy Reid is probably my favorite prospect. He's by far and away the best X's and O's guy on the market, but like everyone, he has his warts.
If Reid gets fired, you hope that being fired prompts him some introspection, and address some of the stuff he's done wrong with the Eagles. Not finding a stronger DC, or relying more on a personnel-side guy. -
I'm on the fence on Andy Reid. He was the coach who took his team to the NFC Championship 4 years in a row, with the last trip resulting in a Super Bowl bid, but lately....some of his decisions, especially regarding the QB position have been quite puzzling.
McNabb, Kolb, Vick, Kolb, Vick, Young...seems a bit chaotic in Philly -
-
McNabb was traded for good reason. Kolb started, but then was injured, Vick came in and played very well. Kolb came back when Vick got injured. The next time Vick got injured, Young stepped in. -
He's not ideal, but he's certainly better than what we have now.
-
Andy Reid is 122-81-1 as Philly's HC. That's a .600 winning percentage.
He has all of 2 losing seasons in his resume, one being his first year with a rookie McNabb. He might add a third this year.
Reid's teams have been to 4 NFC Championships and a SB. His teams have been to the playoffs 9 out of 12 years (they will miss this year)
He has won 6 division championships. His team is 12-0 following a bye week.
He developed Mcnabb. He made AJ Feeley look good enough for a moron to trade for him. ditto for Kolb. Yeah, this year hasn't gone well, but Reid's body of work is second only to Belichick over the last decade.
We would be extremely lucky to land Reid.The_Dark_Knight likes this. -
We would hate this guy, believe me. He's also the smuggest coach I have seen in press conferences. Refuses to answer anything with any valuable insight, simply yes and no answers (especially when they lose).
Please no to Andy Ried. -
Oh wait... -
The National Media has a love affair with this guy and yes his resume shows that earlier in his tenure, he was very successful. The problem was that once they faced the top teams in the playoffs, they struggled to make adjustments where the opposing coach would make the proper adjustments. Ried has traditionally been very good against the bad / poorly coached teams. He has also traditionally been very bad against well coached teams. Coming out at half-time and saying "ok, now I have seen how they are attacking us, let me change up our game plan to adjust to that" is not Rieds strong suit. He will jam down his philosophy every game no matter if it's the right solution for the game at hand.
Listen to some Philadelphia residents. We do not want this guy.texanphinatic and dolfan7171 like this. -

And McNabb was far from a sure thing at the time Reid drafted him and Philly fans and many in the media hated the move.
And yea, having Johnson coaching the defense was a boon, but here he could probably just keep Nolan. I'm not worried about that. The most important thing the next coach is going to do is develop a franchise QB who can get us to the SB> Not many guys I'd rather have than Reid -
You're 100% right. I live right by Philly, and I hate the Iggles...because their fans don't deserve Reid and the many great players who came through during the years while all they did was complain. Reid almost always gets QBs to perform. The Eagles are always pre-season hopefuls, his teams always competitive.
People can't smell their own crap on their knees. If Cowher's Steelers didn't catch lightening in a bottle that year, everyone would say "no way" to him too. Reid has done an amazing job of winning on a consistent basis for a long time. Just give me a chance to make the play-offs every year...forget the delusions of grandeur when we haven't won a Super Bowl in almost 40 years, or been to one in nearly 20.
I say this all the time, there's only been 44 Superbowl winners. 44 Champions. There is just not enough winning to go around. And so many intangibles have to happen for it to be your team. There's no sure fire coach or path to a Superbowl. I just want to be in the mix every December.dolfan7171, Vengeful Odin and BlameItOnTheHenne like this. -

The problem with this thread is, Lurie will not fire Reid. If he does, it will be the biggest bonehead owner blunder since Bowlen fired Shanahan, and broke up Cutler, Marshall, and Hillis.

Sign Reid. Add picks in a trade for Gary Kubiak. Problem?

53 stars do not make a TEAM. Andy Reid is not only a fool he is an arrogent fool for there have been many others before him to do what he has done this season and failed just as he is doing, Don Shula sadly comes to mind as one other, throw in Dan Synder for 10 years and you have another!
I don't want him anywhere near the Dolphins and don't give a damn what his record says! In my mind this year alone shows what kind of HC/GM we'll be getting! -
-
No to Reid. As many have said he lacks the in game management and adjustment something horrible.
The great eagles were riding the pure talent of mcnabb and a jim johnson defense. Look where the eagles are now. Last year they rode some luck and pure talent of Vick to get where they did, but its a team in shambles. The talent acquisition via draft and long term planning was awful, thus the scramble this off season. Look at the moves they made in the offseason and evaluate the implications of that going forward. Thats not what I want in Miami.
The truth is that Reid is an amazing x's and o's guy and did some great game planning...but once a team adjusted to the plan in game, or they found themselves in a situation requiring hurry up or clock burning, they often fail to get it done. In the end, alot of his success, as stated, was riding an incredible (at the time, at least) QB and an extremely talented D coordinator and built defense.
No nonono. No thanks. -
Will he wear his magic underwear on the sidelines and will it bring us success? If so hire him.
-
Yes. He can produce offense with any QB. If he were available, and I were an NFL owner (which I'm not (sadly)) he would be at the top of my wish list. Even if Gruden and Cowher both wanted to coach for me. To me Andy Reid is a great coach having a bad year.
-
i think that in general, i would say that Reid has been able to get his players to play above their talent level. that is one hell of a thing. but that also means that his player selection hasnt been that great, so that would be a sticking point
but i dont watch much eagles games, so idk. -
