I have to think Jarvis Landry is the most motivated player on our team heading into tonight's game vs the Giants and his former teammate odell Beckham. Heading into the draft alot of LSU fans thought Landry was the better receiver but at this point in their careers the media sides with Beckham. This is the type of game where Landry could shine. I know we have a new commitment to run the ball but I really think we should target Landry all game long. 10-13 targets . Thoughts?

Well, perception of who's better is also dependent on highlight reel type plays, and no denying, Beckham has the physical ability to make more of those.
-
Honestly, I'd start Landry at CB tonight against his brother (by another mother). Even though the Giants are horrible against the pass, I think it's essential that we establish the run game early and take some of the pressure off Tannehill. Historically, that's usually when he has his best overall games and we need him to have a big night.
-
I am of the same mind that we need to establish the run tonight and not veer away from it. However when we do pass I would make a concerted effort to get Landry the ball. Even if its not the correct xs and os play, I think feeding Landry in this situation, especially if its working would be appreciated by the players. I'm sure they know how much this game means to landry

Beckham is light years better than Landry. ODB is top 5 Landry is top 30. It's not close. Those LSU fans who thought Landry was Better just had sentimental reasons for doing so.GARDENHEAD, BicketyBam, Fin-O and 1 other person like this. -
I think Beckham is more dangerous but Landry is more dependable.

My thoughts are...any body that thinks Landry is the better receiver right now, needs to get their brains checked. And I love Landry.GARDENHEAD, btfu149, BicketyBam and 4 others like this. -
Before this thread gets derailed into a Landry vs Beckham thread, the question was simply should we target Landry more than we normally do because of the added motivation Landry is going to carry into this game. I say yes. Or do some think we should make no special adjustments for Landry and just let the game plan play out
-
As far as the argument goes on which is better, it's a tough comparison due to our offenses. Beckham is used more like a true WR1 where Landry is a WR3-4, so it's tough to compare apples to apples here. But they both have sensational talent and they're a blast to watch. I'm looking forward to it tonight. -
Passing up on Allen Robinson for Landry and another 5th round pick was a mistake IMO. If we had AR, we'd have the one young guy that could match Beckham.Finster likes this. -
Giants are 32nd in Passing Yards Allowed Per Game and 31st in Sacks...the gameplan should be to attack through the air resulting in Landry getting more targets. Particularly since Matthews is still out. Hopefully, Landry doesn't press too much which I think he has a tendency to do and has led to some mental lapses. And this game shouldn't be about Beckham vs. Landry, but winning the game.
Hopefully, Miami's coaches are smart enough to game-plan for the opponent and not get stuck on thinking they have an equal run/pass on each and every game.
Even more than Landry I would like to see Parker get 10+ targets this game. -
Beckham is going to have a field day against this D unless they triple team him, and even then he will probably get his.
Landry will be Landry, if they don't focus on Landry then he should get the ball, but if they are trying to shut him down look elsewhere.dolphin25 likes this. -
It scars me to think they will plan to get Landry the ball, that would make the QB force things in that direction instead of just letting the plays play out. If we game plan to run the ball instead of pass, that concerns me too since the pass defense of the Giants is horrible. Not saying pass 50 times a game, but if they cannot stop the pass, why stop it for them?

Sick of hearing this game is being labled as the Beckham/Landry show. They're close friends, I get it, but they shouldnt be looked at as the overall main attraction and bigger then the game itself. I like Landry, a lot , but I totally disagreed with his statement that he hopes Beckham has a huge day against the Dolphins defense. If I was the Dolphins defense I'd be pissed off he said that. Personally I hope Parker has a bigger game than him.

Heavy targets to Landry generally doesn't bring great results. He's had 8+ catches in 5 games this year, and we went 1-4.
I've posted about this before, but to me the offense isn't threatening/dynamic enough when he's eating such a big pct of targets. He doesn't get yards in chunks, and seldom makes plays down the field. He's a little overrated on this board, imo, as he's not that dangerous on a per-catch basis. We need to work the ball to Stills, Cameron, and maybe Parker a bit more - guys who get vertical on the perimeter. -
-
Tanne having to "force" the ball to Landry has a lot to do with other teams focusing on him more, which has also led to Landry getting beat up quite a bit, I'm not sure if this is a good idea given the size of Landry, he seems to be getting up slower as the year drags on, because due to his many short inside routes he's getting hit by a lot of LBs, as well as SSs, not to mention DL guys as well at times. -

“I’m looking forward to it a lot,” Landry said Wednesday in a conference call with New York writers. “It’s actually the first time taking the field on opposite sides. I’m also his biggest fan on the opposite sidelines. At the same time, as much success that I want him to have, I just hope we get the W.”
Yes, Landry wants Beckham to have a good performance against the Dolphins defense Monday night.
Just as long as it doesn’t lead to a Giants victory.
“Absolutely, especially because it’s your brother, it’s a bond that goes way beyond the game,” Landry said. “His success means everything to me, as mine is to him. Like I said, I want him to have the game of his life, but I want to win the game. At the same time, I’m rooting for him.”

I love Landry, but I can't imagine all 32 GMs wouldn't take Beckham over Landry.

I love how Landry fights, he plays with a ton of passion, he just has to learn when to not fight for yards sometimes, because at times he just gets more punishment, sometimes you just have to take what you get and pick your spots, just so he isn't taking so much punishment. -

I need 10 points from Landry tonight to win in fantasy and take the lead after the first week of Play-offs.

Well, I wouldn't want to imagine this team without Landry, lol, to say he brings a spark would be an understatement.

Just listened to a little preview from Gruden and he was very complimentary about coach Campbell hiring two, new coordinators and they are getting the job done... our new OC has been in place one game, Miami's offense scored 7 points and Landry was only thrown to a few times.
Think I'll be watching tonight's game with the volume turned off, unless I want a few laughs. -
For us, Landry does everything but drive the team bus to the stadium
all purpose yards, heavily targeted #1 type wr, goes over the middle fearlessly
