I was wondering what you guys would think about maybe pursuing Brady Quinn in the off season if the Browns are convinced that Anderson is their QB of the future. Do you think maybe offering the Browns our 2nd round two pick (2B) would be worthwhile to get Quinn?, and would the Browns be willing to part with him for this? Do you think Quinn is about on the same level as Beck in overall talent? I also could see us maybe going after a QB like Colt Brennan in the 2nd round. Thoughts?

I'd rather them draft a QB with the 2nd pick rather than trading for Quinn.

No way Moon Runner. We need ALL of our picks. I just don't think we can write off Beck just yet and if Parcells wants a QB, it's going to be a veteran QB.
-
I'd consider trading a 6th round pick for Quinn :)
Otherwise unless there is someone in the draft that is as close to a "sure thing" as possible, I'd rather stick it out with what we have. I'd like to get back to having the QB be our main problem rather than one of a LONG LIST of problems. -
We have to take a look at a quarterback in the later rounds or if Parcells doesn't have faith in Beck draft Ryan . -

I wouldn't go for Quinn unless we could sign him off the Browns practice squad. I watched enough of his games at ND to know he was WAY overhyped.
-
-
Joe Flacco might be a nice guy to pick up later.
-
it might be possible doesnt parcells have a history with the ND coach?
-
Bill would be able to find out about Quinn before trying to trade for him
-
the browns have to commit to anderson this offseason, they cannot franchise him because they did not draft him, so it would be the highest tender on anderson that is a first and third pick
-
I want Brennan with one of our picks (not the #1 obviously) but I don't think the "Tuna" regime will spend an early pick on a QB this year, we have to draft defense.
-
Anyone think Alex Smith is going to be out of San Fran soon?
Edit: Let me clear it up, Alex Smith hasn't proven **** but if he does get released would it hurt to take a look at him?Last edited: Dec 23, 2007 -
I wouldn't hesitate at all to part with a second for Quinn, as I think he is better than any of the quarterbacks this year, but I doubt that we do that this year.. too many needs on defense and o-line
-
Remember, they gave up a lot to get a chance to draft Quinn, they won't cast him aside.
Anderson will be starting some where next year...but it won't be in Cleveland...IMO. -
wow...how bad would that make Cam look if we went after a qb he passed up on draft day.
-
You know parcells will talk to the the charlie weiss to determine if he is worth a look

I think the Dolphins have to consider something like it, I'm sure you will get the normal "draft a QB in later rounds" responses from these boards because that's the in thing to say, despite the fact all positions have the same success/fail ratio depending what round they were drafted in...people want to just spit out something because Brady was a 6th and Romo undrafted.
Granted I'm still hopeful Beck will work but considering how he looked when he played and how bad lemon looks and is still getting the start over him I wouldn't bet much on Beck working out.
I still would love to see Brown traded for a first round pick and the fins draft mcfadden. Everyone is crying defense but our offense is still the weakest link and Brown just can't be counted on considering how much we need to lean on him. -
Beck has shown potential which is more than I can say for any other quarterback on our roster. But even so, a quarterback on the 2nd day wouldn't hurt matters.
Brown for a 1st? No thank you. I'd take Ronnie Brown over Mcfadden any day. -
i think beck needs to have another shot
if he doesnt i would hope brennan would fall to the second, with with colt i just dont know if he could translate well in the NFL -

Seriously, what has Quinn shown that deserves to be pursued? We have invested a 2nd rounder in Beck, and we need to give him time to mature and get an accurate assessment of his abilities. There is no sense in adding more wasted draft picks to the pile we have already built searching for our franchise Qb, when we could well have him on board now. Beck did not look good, but then how many rookie Qbs do in their first action. This is not a very talented team at the present moment, how do you expect a rookie Qb to come in and shine in this situation? Parcells will build this team back up to a solid contender. In the process, he will evaluate Beck's talent and make the decision on whether he is the right guy for the job. Either way, I don't see him throwing more draft picks at the position.

Quinn is impossible to get anyways . . . . Browns have no #1 and we have #1 overall . . . they would have to send us Winslow or Edwards along with Quinn and a second rounder . . . if they want that pick. -

No way will we see Brady Quinn come here. Parcels Im guessing will look a veteran QB in FA possibly even Anderson if he likes him and Cleavland is ready to give him up. Parcels has traditonally had a knack for finding good QB's in the draft. I expect to see a second day pick used on a QB in one of our next two drafts. I expect we will see alot of emphasis on building our lines and our defense in our imeadiate future. That is the basic Parcels format.

They will not trade Quinn. Anderson showed again yesturday he had a year that he will never duplicate. and he is nothing more than a BU

are you crazy? i would jump at quinn and winslow for the #1 pick. how could you turn down one of the best tight ends in the league, plus hes young, and a #1 pick qb from last year ,both of which are needs, for a very expensive and unproven rookie.
there are some that put way to much value on this pick. -
I have a strange feeling that our QB's next year will be...
Pennington, Beck, and Lemon if Cam's back, if not then we get one in the draft.
Just a hunch guys... -
Yeh, I've actually been thinking Pennington might be headed this way. Man, then the Jets fans would REALLY hate him.

With Tuna being on the record as saying it is "dangerous" to start a young quaterback, why in the world would he go out and get Quinn--another young QB? There needs to be some sort of logic in speculation. Is this just a way of appeasing people that think Brady was better than Beck in the first place? Are you still diwappointed that Cam decided to take Beck and this is the eay to get what you wanted in the first place? I personally think there is a better chance that I start at QB than we go out and spend another high pick on a young QB.
