He really never made any excuses, everything on his side of the ball was below average Coaching… front office support… Scheme…playcalling..running back room averaging ypc the worst in football …wide receiver room…and of course the worst oline in the game. Tough to play the position when you have all that going against you in your rookie and 2nd year
Side note - Several teams have live video feeds of their conferences. Would be nice if the Dolphins had one too.
My impression was that after 2 years of churn and burn the FO said “we’re not buying you any more expensive toys until you learn to look after the ones you’ve got.” Flores got everything he asked for in years 1 and 2 in terms of coaching staff, but burned through 5he offensive staff in particular.
To be fair, the offensive staff also had nothing to build on and their main job was to ensure Fitzpatrick wasn't killed on national TV. I couldn't imagine building an offensive staff when you have no offense and the front office is going to bench anyone who gets in the way of losing.
Which is a laughable theory given that Fitz was the only who could get in the way and he didn't get benched.
Rosen started the 1st year. Fitz started year 2 and was benched for Tua (twice). I wasn't trying to make it a conspiracy or anything- we were just gutted on offense the past three seasons and started a lot of folks who shouldn't have been starting.
Fitz started the first year and was benched for Rosen who was benched for Fitz You are saying they made these moves to lose. They most definitely didn't make those moves to lose because starting Rosen would have been that move. And if the front office was willing and could forced those decisions they would have done it with Rosen. Flores made those calls all the way and I really don't know how anyone could feel otherwise. Everything we know points that way if even if it isn't what we wanted to believe.
I'm not sure of the origin or extent. I think it's the Collective Bargaining Agreement and my understanding (which is vague) is that related to worker rights to avoid teams making over the top demands on players throughout the year. Maybe it's something else. And 'daps', I had to look it up. It's that side on hive five/handshake.
Missed this one earlier: The quote from OC Frank Smith was interesting. Seems excited about Tua. And then he was in the Armstead acquisition too:
