My lord, a Cb, a LG and De?
Do they even watch this team?
I like the G pick, the rest is crap.
3rd Cb off of the board, maybe the 1st G, the DE is way back in the pack and a Wr from Marshall.
Sheesh, and we have until April to wait? -

Out of curiosity and just for kicks I put together a list of players that a random bunch of draft sites were predicting as our 1st rounder. Ranked by number of times a player was chosen
Keenan Allen, WR, Cal x10
Justin Hunter WR Tennessee x6
Xavier Rhodes CB Florida State x3
Taylor Lewan OT Michigan x3
Bjorn Werner (DE, Florida State) x2
Dion Jordan OLB Oregon x2
Barkevious Mingo OLB/DE LSU x2
Johnthan Banks, CB, Mississippi State x2
Alex Okafor DE Texas
Dee Milliner CB Alabama
DAMONTRE MOORE DE Texas A&M
Jarvis Jones | OLB | Georgia
Johnathon Hankins, DL, Ohio State
Sam Montgomery (DE/LSU)
WR Robert Woods, USCZanno likes this. -
I don't like that draft at all. I don't see any CBs that I feel are worth that high of a pick. My favorite guy at the moment is Barr and I can't even find him in their draft. Based on their rankings I would probably have gone:
Barr, DE
Elam, S
Austin, WR
Skov, LB
Ertz, TEssmiami likes this. -
DE is not a priority, Wr could be (FA could fit the bill).
My needs list:
-#12..BPA, literally you can shoot in any direction, I don't like Cb there for value reasons
De would be a great value there, not a need but it would add additional athleticism.
2nd/3rd rd, LG/WR/Safety Not in that order per se, but they are needs imo
Would not like:
DT
Cb
OL
With our first rd pick, MLB would be iffy, could understand it if a great value fell to us, otherwise we need guys who can attack the LoS imo. -

I'm thinking that 13th spot will go up, hopefully get a real chance at T'eo, this franchise and culture, needs this kids energy and identity..
Barr..Te'o..Jones..Werner..That's four top dogs, if one of them drops to us, I would go there, if not, then Eiffert is the pick for me, at this point..Serpico Jones, mi2cents and ssmiami like this. -
This is why I'd pay a high resource cost to land them, and not a FA, a guy we have for awhile without the big $$$
For us, it makes sense to overpay. -

Rhodes is a quality CB and Lemonier is a very good edge rusher, at DE or maybe OLB. My major criticism would be as to the OG and RB picks- we need Guards, but how many times are you going to go to the well with premium picks on the OL? Can we not land a decent G (or OL for that matter) without spending a high pick? Where is Donald Thomas when we need him? Oh yeah, playing some very good OG for the Pats- the Pats OL that couldn't be stopped in the 4th quarter and had Tony MacDaniel whining after the game...
As to the Lacy pick, we already went to the well with Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller. I'd rather pick up another pass rusher, CB or WR than get another RB. The FO could draft CB, WR and pass rushers in pairs in the 1st three rounds and I'd be fine with that, maybe OG in the 4th round. This draft has to be about playmakers, our cupboard is bare. -

Dobson, does not have true burst of any kind. Guys like Quentin Patton or the kid from USF may be more of a target. Both have the speed to at least threaten a defense, which is something we need more of frankly. Dobson is about the same as Hartline, may be a touch less deep speed IMO. We don't need that, we have that on the roster already. What we need is Matthews to show something during these last 4 games and to find a another young guy with some speed to add to the unit.

We had a guy with a true burst- Clyde Gates- and we dumped him. I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but imo the flip side is that Dobson is a playmaker. At this point I'm ready to write off Marlon Moore and that basically leaves us with Hartline/Bess/ Rishard Matthews- not a speed burning trio. When you commit 40% of the WR roster to Hartline/Bess, that's a commitment to pedestrian competency- let's face it, they're good but by no means great, and they don't scare many defenses. But I do very much see your point. I'm partial to Da'Rick Rogers, and a guy like Terrance Williams is probably a better fit for us and our speed deficiencies as well. But if Dobson could be a playmaker, I'll take him. I wasn't partial to Alshon Jeffrey for reasons similar to yours as per Dobson, but he was a playmaker for the Bears before his injury.
Dobson may not have a "true burst" as you say, but he can move pretty well. I'm not at all discounting the speed aspect, but I think that he does have decent wheels, and at some point this team is going to have to figure out how to acquire skill position players who can actually make a difference.
