IF we improve our OLB, ILB play ... that alone would seriously improve our ability to win the DIV next year.
it IS the defense, not the offense that will determine that outcome.
improving NT and S are also important - but not as critical as OLB, ILB .....
the offense doesn't need as much help .... really just a dominant WR, and i know its not 'just' - as dominant WRs are tough to come by ..... but we really could get by with our current lot of TEs if we needed to.dolfan7171 and Xeticus like this. -
Anything short of a division title is falling short of expectations IMO. If you look at their division record this year they didn't really regress within the division itself. They should be making a deep playoff run next season.

in 2010 we will contend & thereupon remain a perennial contender throughout the decade
I think we could make it to the SuperBowl with a good draft, free-agency & training camp.dolfan7171 and dolphindebby like this. -
Hard to say really, depends on so many factors most importantly how we do in the offseason and what positions we address. It's kind of hard to base progress on taking the division the way our division is changing so much right now. Patriots are on the decline, Jets are moving up and who knows what's going to happen with the Bills. Next year won't be the same as this year that's for sure.

parity is overcome through planning, second effort & consistency:
it's all about what we control & we have a blueprint & it is working
We will Contend in 2010!dolfan7171 likes this. -
Its going to be hard to fill all of those holes without the cba being signed. Most of the players in their prime years are going to be restricted free agents instead of unrestricted.
We better have a great draft not a good draft if we are going to compete for anything. -
The key will be whether we can improve our pass efficiency. That is by far the factor most correlated with winning. That is not an opinion. Fans get confused by offensive rankings but when coupled with winning the TO battle the team that passes more efficiently wins 95% of the time.
The D needs to be improved but the key is the S position. The ILB upgrade is needed but it is a low impact position. Our OLB play wasn't bad last year and Wake looks like a future stud.dolfan7171, jetssuck and Fin Fan In Cali like this. -
How can we honestly have any expectations without seeing how the draft and FA shapes up the AFC.E?
Due to blind faith however, every year I expect to win the AFC.E and go deep into the playoffs. :)dolfan7171 likes this. -

Hard to say prior to Free Agency and the Draft... Lets ask this same question again during training camp, we'll have a much, much better idea then.

Impossible to make an intelligent prediction till I see what the FO does in free agency and the draft.

11+ wins if we stay healthy. We'd be playing right now if we stayed healthy. Add a high draft position and softer schedule...Im looking forward to next year.

I expect to win the Super Bowl. ANYTHING else is unacceptable in my book.

I am expecting to play in the AFC Championship. We will finally add the last pieces to this team, namely the linebackers we need to make this 3-4 defense function. After we get our linebackers we merely tinker with upgrading various positions. 2010 AFC Championship or better, 2011 Super Bowl trophy

My expectation for next year will be the same as it is every year.

I expect a super bowl every year but thats just me being a fan... Realistically i expect playoffs next year... We had a potential playoff team this year and next year i expect to win those games against the Bills, Texans, Titans and Steelers

Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - hinges on what kind of an offseason we have in personnel acquisition.
Secondarily, it depends on what coaches we hire/fire.
If we have a VERY aggressive and successful free agency - no Gibril Wilsons nor Eric Greens - and fill glaring needs at WR and ILB (and maybe TE) with top-tier guys, we have a good start.
If we acquire more picks in the draft, (we DON'T have enough) and use them wisely, (NO Pat Whites or John Nalbones) it brings the picture into much better focus.
If we get rid of Dan Henning and replace him with - oh, say, someone who's NOT SCHIZOPHRENIC - and replace the coaches we've lost and might yet lose with improvements, that will complete the picture and position us for success.
We have a lot of ground to make up from being the 1-15 team we were just a couple seasons back, and we gained little of it by whiffing on the White and Turner picks last draft, and on Ginn, Beck, Booker and Satele before them, while the Jets got guys like Sanchez and Revis with their valuable picks.
Our division got rich on what we left on the table while we had the chance to improve the team; we have to catch up and overtake them or we won't make it out of our own tough division. It really is as simple as that.dolfan7171, finyank13, DeDolfan and 2 others like this. -

I agree with these three basic needs pretty much. These things would make us a pretty big force. -
-
I'll reserve my expectations until after the draft/FA/pre-season
-
I suspect we'll go after only one WR, the best: Dez Bryant @ 12
then proceed to pick two ILB's & a NT w/ our second, third & forth
having secured the Guard position w/Tsoumpas this will allow us to go after
another FreeSafety or TE or w/ 9 picks & few holes, moving up to pick the best
this is shaping up to be one of the best off-seasons to date  very exciting!dolfan7171 and 2socks like this. -
Looking at next years schedule, I would expect that we'd have gone 10-6 if we had that schedule this year, which is my starting expectation.
I expect that our OL play and QB play will continue to improve. I hope for Ronnie Brown to be healthy all year. I expect our CBs to be better after a tough rookie year.
I expect our OLB position to fall off a cliff unless quality replacements are brought in with JP and JT both past their use by dates. Cam Wake appears to be part of the solution, but hasn't proved himself to be an every down NFL OLB yet.
I expect our ILB and S play to be sub-standard unless quality replacements are brought in.
The biggest problem we had this year from a player personnel perspective was inconsistency from young players, which I expect to improve next year with the benefit of experience.
Our FO and Coaching staff have shown themselves to be good at identifying and acquiring talent and then developing that talent.
I expect there to be coaching stability, with both co-ordinators being retained.
Overall I expect the 'phins to be better team than this year's middle of the pack team. My expectation is 11-5 or maybe 12-4 and contending for the divisional crown.
I do not expect a superbowl run, but I would not be shocked if it happened if we have good luck with injuries and have a few things fall our way during the post-season.dolfan7171 and adamprez2003 like this. -
I always think we have a chance, but will wait until after FA signings and the draft to predict.

I think we will at least make it to the playoffs next season. Chad Henne has impressed me this season and I can only imagine how good he will be in the next few years. Hopefully everyone stays healthy this time around. Im not gonna get my hopes too high for next season as far as a Superbowl goes, but I think everyone is going to have to watch out for the Fins this decade. I think we will make it in the next couple years.

I expect us to win the division. I expect the team to beat the sweep the Jets and the Bills. I think the Patriots are on the way down and hopefully we can beat them also.
