Reports going crazy of GTAIV randomly (but permanently) freezing mid game. SO far it seems wide spread in the PS3 version. The fix (according to a Rockstar rep) is to delete your install and saved games and start over. Apparently, when the freeze happens, the console is fine but the game is unplayable.

There has been reports of 360s freezing, but none confirmed and nothing as widespread as the PS3 issue looks. Not sure if it's just a bunch of bad luck, or if it's really an issue at this point. Seems like it effects the 60GB version more.

I had it freeze on my 360 when we were going from free roam to an online deathmatch. Other than that, no problems.
-
not takling about typical game freeze. This thing is making it unplayable.
-
-
They have a fix that might work, which is a reinstall
-
how are people half way through the damn game already...
-
Couldn't you save the game on a flash drive? -
I played this game basically all night last night. Best game I've ever played.
Now, I can't play it for more than 5 minutes without it freezing. I've tried at least 4-5 times, too. It's a well known issue, and Rockstar not only doesn't know what exactly is causing it, but they DON'T expect a fix any time soon. So what, am I supposed to go purchase an 80GB PS3 now when my 60GB has worked perfectly fine up until this point? **** that, and **** Rockstar.
I'm taking the game back to Game Stop tomorrow morning........ -

I have a 60 gig model and no troubles so far and I've been playing all day, hopefully it will stay that way.

Since they didn't catch this in beta testing, I'm wondering if the freezing involves either a specific iteration of the PS3, or if there's a problem with loading the data to partially full HDs.
-
Why do such problems occur? Don't they beta test the game? -
Mine just randomly stopped freezing on the 6th or 7th PS-out. No issues at all anymore.
Weird.
But yeah, it's an issue mostly with 20/60 GB PS3's in the USA. I have the original 60.
& thanks anyways, Mor. :D -

Hell yeah it did!
Still, I liked my Atari 7800 a lot. -
Today it decides to freeze again. Rockstar needs to come out with a patch, man. This is annoying. It's by far the greatest game I've ever played, but I shouldn't have to worry about a freeze every time I turn the game on. I can't do any missions or anything until I mess around for 20-30 minutes knowing that it's finally running smooth.
-
Any reports of 40 GB problems? There's nothing I hate worse than having to start a video game over. Even if I'm only a couple hours into it. And every GTA game so far has had one of those missions that are nearly impossible and the only way you can beat it is to try hundreds of times. Knowing my luck, mine will freeze up as soon as I beat that mission.

It froze on me once today but thats it hopefully no more problems.
