It’s hard to be too excited when we’re limping into Buffalo with (most likely) Teddy Bridgewater as our starting qb.


With that being said, it’s better to be in the playoffs than not.

 

2020- 10-6, no playoffs
2021- 9-8, no playoffs
2022- 9-8, playoffs

On one hand, making the playoffs is a good stepping stone. On the other, this team is no better than the previous 2 seasons in a year where we leveraged our future to “win now.”

This team is flawed and not built to contend . Really hard to get excited about the playoffs or the future. We get curb stomped in Buffalo next week. Then next year we have to rely on the same two glass players that have hamstrung our offense this year because they can’t stay on the field.

 

I think it's great to make the playoffs, but ultimately this could be a curse if it saves the jobs of the front office and players.

I hope Ross sees this team for what it is because adding a buttload of talent and then having the same record isn't good enough. The process failed somewhere.

 

I just hope it's not as bad as our last 3 playoff games. Be competitive and it won't be so bad if we can't advance. Boyer is still out I hope.

 

Honestly? I'm happy. Because between injuries, badly called defense, and some shady use of new policies, this team had every reason not o be in the playoffs. Some people call it limping in. I call it overcoming setbacks.

 

I'm happy. Considering the entirety of the season and the challenges presented by injuries, finishing with a winning record is absolutely a successful season. Byron Jones' and Emmanuel Ogbah's injuries alone didn't just represent lost talent, they also accounted for $17 million in opportunity cost for the players that money could have added to the roster. And before anybody suggests everybody has injuries, that's an obvious point but two players representing a 12th of your salary cap is very hard to overcome. Add the other players we lost and we're lucky to be limping into the playoffs.

It's always better to be in the tournament than out of it. Complaining at this point is just something some of us choose to do. Have fun if it's your bag. But I'm excited to not be looking ahead to the offseason as soon as the regular season ended.

 

Well just that little stat there, kinda shows what they've done to the playoffs. Now average teams make the playoffs, because that makes big money for the owners and the NFL.

 

I don’t think there’s any way Boyer keeps his job unless they shut out 4 teams to win the Super Bowl .

 

Playoffs are a good stepping stone for this team. A lot of these guys have never seen a postseason. This will be big for some of the young guys like Kohou, Phillips, and Waddle. Some of the vets on this team like Wilkins, Chubb, and Howard will be getting their first taste of the postseason. It took a ton of hard work just to make it as a 7 seed. Let's enjoy it for as short as it's going to last. Obviously some changes need to be made in the off season, but we'll worry about that after we get smashed by Buffalo. Speaking of Buffalo. I just want us to compete for four quarters. Give them nothing easy. I want to see us go down fighting. We go up there and lose 51-3 and it's going to be a long painful off-season. I'll settle for 31-21 Bills.

 

That's where I'm at with the score. As long as it's by 10 or less I will be happy unless it's 10-0.

 

Getting into the playoffs is the entire point of the season. With Mostert, Waddle and Hill all hurting along with a a one handed Bridgewater means we may get blown out by a flawed Bills team. But I'm happy for this team and our new head coach. Congratulations guys! Go Phins

 

at least if we get hammered it SHOULD be the final nail in the coffin for the DC.

 

Boyer has to go no matter how well we do in the playoffs, including on defense. It will be a good test of McDaniel's judgment (and balls) to make tough decisions like get another DC. And he'll have to find the right one too. All on the HC for this one.

 

I’m happy that we are in, it would have felt like an absolute failure if we didn’t after how we played early in the season.
I know people always say “everyone’s injured” but are there any other teams who have had so many injuries to the same positions? We must have used about 7 offensive tackles this season and OL was a weak spot to begin with. If you include X and guys that got injured before the season even started we must have had 7 DB’s injured who you would have expected to contribute. Also add in that our QB has missed 5 games as well. When you sit down and analyse it, it’s really a minor miracle that we actually have a winning record and made the playoffs imho.

 

I think the biggest priority should be firing Chris Grier followed closely by Boyer

 

Look, it's a new season next Sunday and yes, we SHOULD lose badly to the Bills. But let's be honest, there's a Cinderella team almost every year that gets their act together and makes some serious noise.

Miami is 4 wins away from being Super Bowl champs. We've already beaten several of the top AFC teams this season. Maybe we have Tua, maybe not, but don't count us out yet just because it's easy.

 

If we had a healthy roster or finished strong to make the playoffs, I’d share your same sentiment. From 8-3 to needing a Patriots loss to make it in, just doesn’t feel good or like this team has made any progress after trading our future for 2 players that were supposed to make us a contender.

 

I'm happy! We should be enjoying this moment.

 

Exactly how I feel and looking into the future does not really get my hopes up either.

 

At least they got the 1:00 game on Sunday, so maybe a few dings have a chance to heal, and it might be a couple of degrees warmer than a night game.

 

You're right, but that's not what the playoffs are about. It's a fact that we're 4 wins from being Super Bowl champs- Brad can even verify that, LOL. A lot would have to happen and I'm not expecting it, but being in the playoffs keeps the dream alive.

Enjoy the dream, my friend, even if it's only for another week. With Tua, we know that we can hang with Buffalo. With Skylar...well, the D and special teams better play the game of their lives.

I guess the bigger problem is this buys Grier more time and he’s the biggest road block to ever winning a Super Bowl. Well outside of Ross but he’s not going to fire himself unfortunately.

 

Who actually said the were unhappy the team made the playoffs?

 

I want to win more than anything but just playing a competitive game would make an L go down easier. We were soooo close to sweeping them just a few weeks ago. Not expecting Teddy or Skylar to keep us in a game like Tua did on that Saturday night, but Buffalo was regularly cleaning our clock until this year. Of course, I'd prefer a win, but if we exit this season as their clear rivals for the immediate future, I'll take it as a step forward.

As a side note: Buffalo is now the team everybody wants to win after their own teams have been eliminated. Not quite Destiny's Darlings but a would-be feel good story in light of Hamlin's injury. I might be an a**hole for saying this, but I'd love to come out of this game as the biggest buzz-killing villainous spoilers of this century. I could really do without the live looks in at Hamlin celebrating in his hospital bed. Hopefully, he's encouraged to get healthy and sign with us as a free agent in the future.

 

None of them said they were not excited. 2 of them said not as excited as they thought, which indicates they are excited to some degree.

 

I don't think the officials will let that happen. They already gave them a seeding higher then the Bengals.

 

Ross just wants to win. His biggest problem is that he gets involved, lol. Every team does what he did, but he’s not slick about it and gets caught. His multiple flubs during coaching searches are also embarrassing to the franchise and the fans. He would be best served by hiring someone to align the organization from top to bottom, and have them bring in a capable GM (if that person is not a GM already).

Grier is a lost cause. Way too many chances to build a winning team and has failed miserably.

 

He missed on QB. Hopefully, this staff can coach up the OL more. They did have some really nice games running the ball.

Occasionally when your team wins some playoff games you have optimism. For Miami, well, 20 years is a long time and a lot of mistakes we keep making over and over. I think that’s what’s tough for some of us

 

it is frustrating, but at beginning of season we wanted a playoff spot. The team got one regardless of how, so I'm excited about it.

 

Don’t forget, Ross really wanted Lamar Jackson (supposedly).

They had better bring in at least a couple of solid OL this offseason in order to relegate Liam to depth only and end the Jackson fiasco.

 

I think it's pretty obvious that they can coach up OL, we pulled Shell from the street and he's been serviceable. We've had Robert Jones looking like an ok option at LG going forward. Kendall Lamm stepped in and played ok until his injury. Gregg Little did ok at first then became possibly the worse OL we've had in years, no idea what happened with him. :lol:

If the coaching staff from last year had this OL we would probably have given up even more pressures that last season.
