Not a good opening statement for John Beck this year. Yeah hes a rookie on a crappy team but in his few starts hes got the Major Fumbles dont he...
I think Tuna will get a free agent, keep back for a year or two but I do not think he will be the starting QB next year.. He will be the backup to whoever We bring in via Free-Agency again!
Im not sure he has the time to become a premier QB in this league he finally throw a Touchdown but man he does not look ready..
We can not afford to wait 2-3 years for him to be playable hes too old to be the MAN for the franchise.
John I wish you luck prove me wrong, but you did not impress Bill today.

unfortunatelly i believe that as well...if Beck grows up and wins the job in camp great.
-
He had a bad first two series. Once he got comfortable, he looked pretty good. Glad to see him get two touchdowns today.
-
he started to play a little bit better after he got warmed up
-
dummy cam did not give him a chance on 4th and 2 wth eight minutes left in the game, he punted down 11

I was glad for the opportunity to see Beck when Lemon went down but instantly mortified by his mistake. I remember when Fiedler would drive us down the field only to toss a pick for a TD. And I believe Feeley at one point had more TD's for the opposing teams than for us. So to see this from Beck early on certainly does not bode well. Turnovers are inexcusable and crazy is the organization that tolerates too much of it.

You have no idea if Parcels was impressed or not. The fumble all be it was a boneheaded play but easily corrected with reps. After his second series what negatives did you see after he got in a rythm. I thought he threw some pretty nice passes. -
beck was solid after his fumble, and when the "adrenaline" sit down , he was accurate and made good decision, his 2 TD drive was good for his confidence, I hope he grew up this offseason and will be our starter next spetember.
He seems solid in his head to rebound like that after his mistake and I like that. -
Hopefully Beck wont be 3rd string going into Pre-season. He needs to be judged accordingly by the right people. When you see players like Lorenzo Booker who was praised by a heck of a lot of Defensive and Offensive players in pre-season and wasnt used till near the end of the season, it doesnt fill you with confidence regarding the Offensive coaching and the use of Beck.
-
hey dominizzo, who is a parcell QB ? bledsoe.......he's retired, common beck was solid today after his mistake.
-
The miscues are bad without doubt. But the guy hung in there and never looked as if he lost confidence. That is important in order to have any shot in succeeding. I like his mechanics and showed good velocity when throwing. Some of his throws though seemed forced and high and to the side out of trying to avoid throw anywhere near a defender. The guy is going to have to learn his capabilities and limitation within the NFL game. I'd say give him an offseason and preseason before making an evaluation on whether he is destined to be potential starter, career back up QB yet valuable asset, or career journeyman at best. And even then with our luck over the past 10+ years as QB he will leave the league temporarily, come back somewhere else, and end up leading a team to the playoffs as a starter. God I hope not.

pennington makes the most sense, you dont even have to give up picks, maybe switch spots in a round, THE BIG HOPE IS BECK CAN PLAY, if he can we are closer to getting better
-
everyone wants to believe in beck, he does have a good arm, but he is short, and is not ready, going on 27 years of age with minimal experience = future doesn't look good for beck
why.. can you back that up?? I bet you can't.. this is unsupported garbageLast edited by a moderator: Dec 30, 2007 -

The fumble today in the shotgun, and the ball he tried to throw that slipped out if his hand and got run back for a TD (a few weeks ago) makes me wonder where his focus is at? I don't know if it is nerves or what? I know you have to give a young QB a little time to get over his mistakes, but I would not be upset if we ended up drafting another QB in the 2nd round, or maybe bringing someone else in as a FA. We have to get our QB of the future, and right now I don't think we have one. :001_rolleyes:

beck is the same height as simms, montana, brees and taller then young so we have to see
-
Some people on here will say just about anything without any base for it....the fumble wasn't good but after that the kid played very well...had his 1st TD pass plus ran one in too and had the pass for the 2 points...he can trow the football and if he gets any kind of help he'll be a good QB in the NFL....I hope is playing for us.

For a franchise that hasn't had solid Qb in what seems like forever, giving up on a guy after minimal playing time seems crazy to me. Obviously every fanbase wants to see a guy have instant success but it rarely happens. What works against Beck is his age and that the Tuna will be calling the shots now. So he is not tied to Beck. I have not seen enough of him to say whether or not he's the savior or just another guy. Really who has? People still make the arguement that Roethislinberger is just a product of the system, yet how many Qb's are better than him?

QB is the most important position we need to fill, is it beck or a high draft pick, you can have a vet come in, but they are not the future, so if you are going to blow it up and be good for ten years, it is either beck or a high draft choice or both
-
parcells likes tough smart guys who manage and win games,
-
Beck is a football junkie. He lives for every nuance of the game. He is a high character guy, a bright guy and he can play. I'd say he is a Parcells type of guy. What does he have to do? Grow a beard to look tougher? Then will he be a Parcells type of guy? This is utter foolishness. No matter what, I think Parcells will bring in a veteran QB and spend a 2nd day pick on one. It will be open competition in camp and don't be shocked if Trent Green is in the mix. If Quinn threw for 2 TDs and ran for another there are people on this site that would be all over his jock saying that Cam blew the pick. Beck to Ginn was pretty cool today. I could get used to it. The D really sucked today. No excuse to play that bad. The first pick will be defense imo. It's badly needed. Nose tackle and shutdown corner are gapeing needs.

a trade down with the ablility to get more picks another QB is a great choice, we have a chance this year for the first time to take a franchise QB who can play for a long time, that is if Ryan or Brohm are those type of QB'S, what i have seen and read says yes, we will see what the tuna thinks

Taking a QB is a crap shoot and the Fins dont need to be gambling away the first pick when their Defense is this bad. -
Height: 6-3 Weight: 216 Age: 53
Born: 11/3/1954 Lebanon , KY
College: Morehead State
Experience: 14 Seasons steve young is listed at 6-2 - 215 ...but becks measurments got to be wrong because anyone can see that he looks a lot smaller than young or simms -
beck is 6-2 218, he is that tall i stood next to him at camp, so simms, young and montana are about his size, so the thing that matters is between his ears
-
You have to expect some rookie mistakes with rookies, period. What matters is how rookies rebound from rookie mistakes. He rebounded nicely and had two nice TD drives. Honestly, I'd rather have Beck than Pennington for what it's worth. ** AND Quinn, for that matter.
