Many of us have been calling for this. I say use Ginn for KR and PR duties. Lets see what we got in the Rookies. Cant be much worse than Ginn.

I read another report that stated not to put too much in that because of all the different receiver packages the Dolphins have. Ginn later came in and ran with the first team. Ultimately we will understand his role based on how much he plays on Sunday. Beware of drawing conclusions from the practice reports.

Shutting him down somewhat is the best thing they could do for the kid. Ginn has some serious weaknesses in his game that they need to work on. Keeping him out there as the number one guy is going to do more harm than good. To the team and him as well.....
Give him back his KR duties and use him off the bench at WR......hopefully he'll be able get himself together and be of some use to us down the stretch.HugeFinFan, Disnardo, dolfan7171 and 2 others like this. -
I honestly agree with Armando's blog post I read today (weird). It suggested throwing him into the game at the start, and letting him get a few downs in, and then taking him out and giving hartline a majority of the reps, especially in higher pressure situations. Then bringing Ginn in 100% for returns.
Get him into the game early where a mistake isn't as costly (it's still costly, but not as much), and where he can maybe start working himself into a rhythm and be less concerned with HAVING to make the big play.
If that doesn't work, I don't think there's really much else you can do with himBpk and dolfan7171 like this. -
he makes to many errors.
knocking him down the list and forcing him to practice fundamentals is the best thing. he needs to stop taking his eyes off of the football before he gets his hands on it. he needs to position his body better to make catches. and he needs to run his routes properly.
if can just stop with the errors, he could be a decent receiver. he either needs a better wide receiver coach or he is too stupid to grasp what they him.Bpk likes this. -
Ted Ginn heads back to the Tuna's doghouse
Posted by Mike Florio on October 26, 2009 8:06 PM ET
Two weeks ago tonight, Dolphins receiver Ted Ginn made an impressive catch on a long touchdown that helped deliver a win over the Jets.
On Sunday, however, Ginn was back to eating pre-game popcorn, with multiple key drops in the 46-34 loss to the Saints.
Per ESPN's Chris Mortensen (who likely still has a pipeline to his former ESPN colleague, Bill Parcells), Ginn will see reduced playing time going forward.
Mort also said that, if the trade deadline were tomorrow instead of last Tuesday, the Dolphins would be dialing up the Ravens and offering Ginn to the team whose offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron, drafted Ginn in 2007 with the ninth overall pick.
So why didn't the Dolphins do it last week? In hindsight, it would have been a great time to sell high, with Ginn looking great against the Jets.
As a result, Miami missed an opportunity, and now they're stuck with Ginn through the balance of the season.
Unless they eventually decide to cut him.The Conch Shell Guy likes this. -
So what do you think about that guys??
-
I've noticed when Ginn is targeted early and often (See: Buffalo game last year) he usually has a nice game.
With the exception of the Jets game, I can't recall him getting off to a slow start and then making a big play. -
I'm totally in love with the Miami coaches (no homo).
-
And than he dropped a pass in the end zone you forgot to mention! -
-
maybe we traded ginn's family to the ravens last week and that why he such a bad game.
-
I like this part now mind you this was only practice.
A bit later, Ginn lined up in one-on-one passing drills, beat new practice squad safety Nate Ness and dropped an over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone.
I said this weeks ago this kid lacks concentration plain and simple.BuckeyeKing likes this. -

Brian Hartline should be our new #1. I honestly think he has earned it. This kid is a keeper, and Henne loves him.

Greg C, Bess, Hartline, we are not talking about a Wr corp that is exactly.."fast"...they all are really smart though.dolfan7171 likes this. -
It is good they are giving all the receivers an equal chance to show something. I am also going to guess Turner will be active Sunday for the first time. I am interested to see what he brings because he seems like a tall, red zone target.

I think that we should give Patrick Turner a chance.. He looked pretty good in preseason and he is a big target that Henne can get the ball to high.
Additionally, I feel that we should for the remainder of the season put Ted Ginn full time kick return/ punt return duties and he should also be involved in some passing plays, just in a lesser role. He is having Braylon Edwards syndrome.dolfan7171 likes this. -
He has some serious issues in his head imo and with all the expectations of him, I think it's getting worse.
I do expect him to play plenty against the Jetsons though. Their secondary puts a lot of pressure on Wr's but one wrong move by them and a player with the speed like Ginn can make them pay big time. He will also open it up underneath and I know some comments here will be but he can't catch so why respect him? My answer is simple. It's because their coach is a stubborn sob that won't want to let Ginn get that deep on them again. He'll have a safety playing backside help with Revis more than a few times but this time where he should be instead of 5 yds in towards the LOS.
Had the safety been where he should have been the last game the pass might not have worked. Ginn also ran the wrong route. The second he was past Revis, he should have headed to the pile on where he would have had no help coming his way. He would have seperated himself by 8-10 yds.BuckeyeKing likes this. -
I just listened to Sparano and Henne's pressers on aquavision.
Go listen to Hennes' take on Ginn.
Sparano is on cool customer IMO. I love his expressions when the press asks questions he thinks are dumb.TheMageGandalf, The Conch Shell Guy, GridIronKing34 and 2 others like this. -

this is good, I hope ginn is now challenged for his starting job instead of knowing he IS the #1 WR on the team.......maybe he'll try harder and stay more focused
wouldn't mind seeing hartline getting more targets alsodolfan7171 likes this. -
I'm still shocked how bad are Receiving corp is that Turner can't even see the field. Is he that bad or just can't grasp the playbook?
-
I LOVE this move.

Ummmm.......why?
He's got game film, he's been standing on the sideline watching.
When the ball is thrown to Hartline, he makes plays
When the ball is thrown to Ginn, he makes everyone wish we had thrown it to Hartline instead.
Why not just use the practice time to work on making Hartline a bigger part of the game plan?
We're 6 games into the season and you're having "tryouts"?dolfan7171 and padre31 like this. -
Almost every major Play i remember Turner making in college he was either WIDE open by at least 10 yards, or he was simply taller than everyone else. Now being taller doesn't get you a whole lot in the nfl because most pro CBs can jump over Cadillacs, and Turner is certainly not fast enough to get the same kind of separation he got in college. I'm pulling for him. His size would be incredibly helpful if he turns into a decent player. But Hartline making plays already and Turner staying inactive has me holding my breath.BuckeyeKing likes this. -
I saw a story someplace that said Hartline and Bess lined up with the first unit and Cam was in the second unit.
It said when Ginn came in he caught his first pass but than dropped one in the end zone.
I'll try and find it.
Found it

How come they waited until now to do a WR tryout? That should have been done before the season started.

Dolphins rookie WR Brian Hartline may take some of Ted Ginn's playing time
Something else to discuss...should be interesting.

This "try out" thing sounds dumber than the time out he called. Time for Parcells to step in I think.... -
Yea well the tryout is in the games every sunday. Each player will get their chance to shine and now its Hartline's time. Ginn gets those shots and drops the ball when we need it most. That wont cut it. Lets just see how it goes this weekend cause i like the way hartline plays.

The dude runs bad routes and has some issues with going over the middle or getting hit at all for that matter.
He's got one play.
Thats streak down the field as fast as you can. Go deep. Thats it. Unless you count the quick out in which if he catches it, he runs out of bounds before anyone can touch him, damn the first down marker (even if its only 1/2 a foot away).
