Sure looks that way...

Wow that's kinda out of nowhere.
I thought he might be worth developing. Someday I'll have to realize they don't care what I think :pfins1 likes this. -
Surprised. Looks like Watkins is coming though, unless someone else has signed. Samuda looked overwhelmed to me this training camp...they must have done enough evaluation on him...

Dolphins sign OG Danny Watkins, waive Josh Samuda
The Dolphins signed offensive guard Danny Watkins, who was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. To make room for Watkins Miami released Josh Samuda, a former Hollywoods Hills standout who make the team as an undrafted rookie last season.

Samuda released?
He sucked, but didn't suck badly enough that someone who hasn't even played a down in practice should be anointed as his immediate replacement. -
-
Funny, I just saw this,

He actually has more than 1 agent. So the agent that denied the report, wasn't the one doing the deal. Eric Metz did the deal.

Best of luck to Samuda in finding another gig, and best of luck to Watkins on making the most of this opportunity.

I'm a bit disappointed that they've cut Samuda so early. I don't know if there is functionally a lot of difference right now but he had upside.
-
Actually this is more interesting because Samuda was also the backup center.
This mean were trusting Garner at Center if Pouncey goes down? Not for more then finishing off a game I would think. This means Incognito is really the backup center here if Pouncey were to go down and Watkins/Garner would fill in more likely at Guard.Puka-head likes this. -
Josh Samuda was only a second year player and he was very physically gifted. I don't like releasing him so soon. He had a handul of bad pass protection plays at right guard this preseason, no denying that. He wasn't ready to start yet. But he played pretty well at right guard otherwise and I thought he showed some potential for a young player. They replace him with a first round bust whose love for the game is openly questioned, who has been referred to as "soft" by the people that drafted him in the first round.

LMAO...you mean soft like crying to your "fans" on twitter when you stink up a stadium in a preseason game against third teamers?

Sorry my bad, I will step aside now. -
Don't know much about Watkins. I'm disappointed with Samuda being cut. He had nice strength, but struggled with the quicker Ts. I'd like to think that you could mask that with improved footwork and technique especially in a phone booth position like RG. I was also disappointed with Louis being cut. I believe he had a very good chance of being an above average RG for us once he healed up. Has he signed anywhere yet?

My read is that the staff decided Samuda had hit his ceiling and it wasn't high enough. I am sad however that he is practice squad ineligible. I would like to have kept him nearby.

Hope things are going well for you...
On topic, I don't know anything about Watkins except what has been said. My real question is the Eagles oline that good, that if they cut him we should scoop him up? I thought I remembered their oline as being pretty poor... -
The hope is for the first round pick to be humbled, know what it feels like to be a backup, work on your mentals while your riding the pine, try to come to a realization that you were born lucky and get to play a game that allows you to take of yourself and your family for the rest of their lives, let our marine oline coach get in his *** to see if he can light that flame, and see what happens with minimal risk..

Their complaint was that Ireland cuts a player whose potential is cultivated by another staff. That would mean the player is talented and it was a good job uncovering them, but a bad job cutting them. The cutting them part is probably not decided by Ireland.Stitches likes this. -

There's no need to turn this into an Ireland thing. There's plenty of moves in his past that are proven to be bad moves already, no need to start reaching for data points based on what we think might happen.
But I do agree with you that Jeff Ireland is as responsible for any/every player cut from the 53 man roster as anyone else in the organization. More so, in fact.Claymore95 likes this.
