Good move... thanks to Alen for bringing this to my attention. Figured it was worthy of a separate thread :hi5:

Anthony Armstrong for Steve Slaton....not confirmed...
Ben Volin @BenVolinPBP
Armstrong was on #Dolphins practice squad in 2008 and cut in 2009. Now they're reportedly trying to trade for him

Sounds good to me...still not an elite guy, but one that I liked when he was here before... -

Get it done. RT @Rich_Campbell: Redskins are talking trade with the Dolphins; RB Steve Slaton for WR Anthony Armstrong, a source confirms. -

If nothing more, he's a guy that might help us and Slaton is expendable with Miller coming on...

Didn't see it anywhere else...sorry, but a move (if it works out) worthy of talking about...

Actually AA would be our #3 or #4, he has legit deep threat ability.
Also means "Dash" makes the team. -
I like the trade, but by itself it doesn't solve wide receiver. I don't know how feasible other moves are though.
RoninFin4, CWBIII, Stringer Bell and 1 other person like this. -
Makes sense with the Gates cut. Difference though is at least armstrong has some productivity
Mcduffie81, GMJohnson, Larry Little and 1 other person like this. -

So we added to the list of #3, #4 and #5 WR's we already have.
Still don't see a #1. Barely see a #2.Coral Reefer likes this. -
Larry Little and PSG like this.

If we get the healthy Armstrong of 2010, he's your #3 WR (e.g. starter).
44 catches, 871 yards, 3 TDs. 19.8 yards per catch.
That's what he brings. A downfield threat. You just wonder if he can stay healthy.CWBIII likes this. -

this is what you call a 1, 2 or 3? smh.
-
Also, don't shed a tear for Steve Slaton.... he did well to get back healthy again, but an oft injured running back is always a risk to be injured again. I like our running back group with Bush, Thomas, Miller and Lane. Dare I say top 10 in the NFL?

It's a smart swap. Slaton is behind too many other RBs anyways.
Why are they dumping Armstrong, though? -
-
So a guy who was deemed not good enough by Jeff Ireland 3 years ago is now being traded for as one of the "answers" to our problem that apparently he didn't see coming.
Wonderful.
But AA is a decent player, swap of unneeded guys on a aprticular roster. Not awe inspiring but decent value. -

If healthy, he legitimately upgrades the position. And you deal from the bottom of one of the few positions of strength on this team to get him.unluckyluciano, Larry Little, CWBIII and 4 others like this. -
Makes no sense for Washington. Slaton isn't better than Hightower, Helu or Royster.
-
-
Not saying that's how it is, but criticizing him outright is silly IMO when we don't have a clue what went on to lead to the cut.CWBIII likes this. -

Helu played his 1st preseason game on Weds the same game whenre Royster played in only his second preseason game and was dinged during that game.
Armstrong was the odd man because we added Garcon, Morgan and Briscoe and would likely have been released.
Armstrong is not a complete WR by any means, but he's an elite deep threat.Larry Little and MrClean like this.
