Losing any game sucks, especially today when we're clearly the better team if not missing 36% of our defensive starters and with a few others still recovering from recent injury. Regardless, did ANYONE expect us to go 16-0? I sure didn't. We escaped the toughest part of our schedule with a 3-2 record, with wins over the Browns [who could very well win their division], the playoff caliber Falcons, and the 4-1 Colts [who beat San Fran & Seattle]......... and we sloppily lost to an impressive 5-0 Saints team in their OWN backyard, a team that's 11-0 at home the last 2 years with Sean Payton..... and we just lost by a missed FG to last year's Super Bowl team w/o Wake, two corners, and our important middle linebacker who is a difference maker in limiting Ray Rice.
Obviously our current play has been sloppy the last two weeks and needs to be sured up, but there's no reason to not have playoff expectations in high regard as our injured players become healthy, have an upcoming bye week to clean a few things up, and now that we're through the toughest part of our schedule with a SIGNIFICANTLY favorable one laying ahead. We get the Bills w/o a QB, and the Bucs are a mess averaging 11 pts/game. If we split the Pats/Bengals we're likely 6-3 with a remaining schedule of SD, Carolina, NY, Pitt, Buff, NY, and NE. If we don't play down to their level we should go 5-2 at worst down the home stretch. 11-5 is well within reason.
Just sayin--- give it a few weeks to play out before prematurely pulling out the white towels.

Can we ban threads like these? Seriously. They're at least as bad, and definitely more frequent, than ACTUAL chicken little sentiment threads.
The Dolphins lost. People are upset. They lost two in a row and there are weaknesses that promise more losses to come if they can't be fixed. Let people react to those things without pretending that all of them are morons for doing so.Onehondo, STColeridge, MAFishFan and 20 others like this. -
It's not the end of the world. It's not even the end of our hopes for a winning season. It's just the end of our hopes for a playoff spot. We won't be getting one with that level of play.
-
Well assuming Tuel is the starter for the Bills we should be 4-2 going up against the Patriots, and I like our chances to beat the Patriots. If we lose to Tuel, especially after a Bye week, I don't want anyone here complaining about the attendance. The Dolphins deserve the empty stadium IF that happens.

OH NOOOO it's the end of the world!!
Dude, I admire your optimism, but we have no offensive line and no backs who can block. Therefore, no running game. No time to throw the ball and let routes develop. Other teams can see this. Our defense can't win'em all for us, especially if we keep going three and out. Wannyball doesn't win championships.STColeridge likes this. -

Cause we do that. Tannehill is the best redzone QB we've seen in years.
I really like a lot about this team, which is why it sucks so bad to watch them give up so many sacks.ToddPhin likes this. -
I have to agree with ck here. The game ended an hour ago, we're all still angry. Let us vent. Should have started this thread later tonight and without making others seem stupid.

It is not the end of the world, but this situation is very concerning. The same weaknesses that were there when we were winning, have not only remained and are costing us games now, but have actually gotten worse, not better. The team has some serious soul searching and brainstorming to do to find ways and people to solve them.
Most concerning is, I don't think they can solve them this season in any meaningful way. Short of a miracle. -
And I'm a pretty big homer.
-
That being said, the offensive line sucked today. -

I think history tells us as dolphins fans we have every right to panic. Threads like this make it seem like the dolphins have been in the playoffs more than 1 time in the past 13 years

No one is throwing in the white towel. In fact, most people would have been happy coming into the season with a 3-2 record through the toughest part of our schedule. The concern is that our OL is horrible and we may set a sacks allowed record this year. IF, and that's an IF at this point, RTH is a franchise QB, we have to do a better job of protecting him.

I think there are some things that have come to the forefront (positively) today.
Ryan Tannehill can throw the football. He directed that offense. If not for the drops, he'd have had another great completion percentage. Even with all the offensive issues, he still finds a way to get the ball to his receivers and in the right spot.
No turnovers. We won the turnover battle 2-0.
We scored a defensive TD.
Brandon Fields is a positive every week. He changed field position a few times.
I liked seeing Marcus Thigpen on the field more. I think he's a great back to have on the field in 3rd down. If our backs can't block, why not get another playmaker out there?
I liked seeing Jelani Jenkins on the field more. He's our best coverage linebacker already. He's had more time on the field due to injuries, but he was being used in sub-packages early on.
Brandon Gibson & Charles Clay are really nice threats in the seam. Charles Clay has really played well this year, although he had two drops, one of them being key to help field position yardage.MAFishFan, Aqua4Ever04, Boik14 and 4 others like this. -
Even in the wins, the offense has been quite offensive. We can do another thread on is it necessary in a passing league to have a RB who averages more than 60yd/gm, I am old school and believe you do. Right now, Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas are not scaring anyone. Well Saints and Packers have good teams without the need for a big time running back. Well, you can win without a running game when you have Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. Tannehill, is not Brees or Rodgers. The Fins can win with defense alone but it's going to be so so so so so so so difficult. Fans will have heart problems watching these games. Every game this season the team was Losing or only up by 4 going into 4th quarter.

And how about you spare me the "we were supposed to be worse so be happy with 3-2" crap. That's such a loser mentality. -
A lot of the people whining are the same ones who said we'd be lucky to win 2 of the first 5 so we win 3 of five and now it's wah wah wah we're only 3-2, why you gotta interrupt our group therapy session with a dose of reality and perspective?
The OL has been a problem, ok. I get that. People who watch teams other than Miami know that OL issues are prevalent throughout the league. Seattle is considered an elite team and they have an OL just as bad if not worse. The Giants have a bad OL and their "elite" QB hasn't been able to prevent 0-5. The 49ers have a great OL and they're 3-2 just like us including a thrashing by the Indy team we beat, on the road.
I don't know that our OL will get better but I do know that we won't face teams who can exploit that weakness all year long and I know that we have 2 weeks to get our defense healthy. Ellerbe, Wake, Misi, Patterson, Davis, and Carroll all have minor injuries. We have the Bills up next and their QB couldn't start for half the college teams in division 1. We get Buffalo twice the Jets twice the winless Bucs and winless Steelers, Carolina, Cincy, San Diego and the Pats x 2. I like our chances provided we get healthy and make some changes on offense that our so obvious even I can point them out. -

We could've easily put up 26+ points today if the dropped passes were cut in half.
Scoring 23 against Cleveland isn't bad considering they held Cincy to 6 and Balt to 14.
We scored 24 against Indy who held San Fran to 7.
We scored 27 against Atlanta.
That's 23+ points in 4 of 5 games.
Do you not feel 23+ points/game plus a solid, healthy defense at our back is enough to win games? -
-
Its people, WADR, people like you who should be praising 3-2 bc it's people like you who said the team was going nowhere this season. If you're disappointed by the loss cool, but you can't predict thunderstorms and flash floods all offseason and then play the disappointed role when theirs only scattered showers. -
OH NOOOO it's the end of the world!!
