Geez.

i think it's more than that honestly.... Oh well. Can't live without it.

As a huge fan of the 360 I wish I could say those numbers are way off..... But I cant. On the upside you have a 3 year RROD warranty direct from MS so at least you are protected.

I've lost one system to the dreaded RROD earlier this year ... I too thought I was immune from it. Apparently that is not the case.
-
Sony I believe this report said had around a 10% failure rate and that's probably about right as I know about 3 people on here have had their PS3 fail on them. However the old 60GB and 20GB models I have read on the PlayStation forums are starting to be frequently getting the YLOD and Sony is basically ignoring the problem. So kudos to MS for addressing the problem and giving a warranty a lot better than the 1 year that Sony offers.anlgp likes this. -
My ps3 failed on me.
-
i loved my XBox before mine failed. repeatally. it froze so many times i couldnt even begin to think about how many times really. then the RROD came..i NEVER had problems even close to that with my ps2(was always a playstation guy), sold my xbox after it got back from warranty, bought a ps3, its froze less then 10 times and ive had it for a long time now. no problems what so ever. Xbox failure rate is ridiculous. after i bought mine, before i was having problems, i convinced a friend to buy one, when we turned it on, it was already the RROD(bought brand new from best buy), we take it back. after only a day another RROD. he went through 3 xboxs before he got out of his return policy with best buy. then he went through another one after that. then he did exactly what i did, sold the POS and bought a ps3. since he had so many problems back to back to back, thats exactly what convinced me, first sign of trouble im gone. to much **** to put up with.

That's a terrible failure rate. I hope my Xbox doesn't fail because my PS3 already did. Sucks because I had a 60GB with all the good backwards compatibility and everything. The new one is a lot quieter though and the hard drive is huge so it worked out alright. It was covered by a warranty I bought too. Good thing.
-
you guys think the backwards compatability is faulty and perhaps why Sony has phased it out?
-
I bought a Jasper MB console and it has run very, very cool compared to my old one (which have now dubbed the 'crapbox' and its the one I use for testing out games or just screwing around for a few hours).
The 'crapbox' has been repaired once but has been running OK ever since and still going strong after what must be now well over 100 hours of play (since I send my kids to play on that one and not my main). -
If it didn't have the RROD problem, Sony would have already closed it's playstation division.Lt Dan likes this. -

I just found it weird that when he said that it sort of does make sense.
Ah ha here is that YLOD victim thread on the Playstation forums:
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&thread.id=3629439
Although I admit I prefer the PS3 and support it over the 360. I own both and just prefer the PS3, both are great systems but the PS3 gets my vote.
Also with everyone who had a PS3 fail what happened? My laser died on me. -
The 360 has done a ton of damage to sony's PS division while carrying a 54% failure rate...
Is that a lie?
Imagine how many more 360's they would have sold if people didn't have the RROD to fear them into buying a ps3?
If it's easier to call me a fanboy, then fine...but I own and use all 3 consoles. -

Is M$ winning this generation? Well, they are a healthy 2nd. They got the jump and they had a lower entry price. The mistake that Sony made from the start was not having a stripped down, cheap entry model. The price arguement was always bunk for me anyway. The game library and system exclusives are pretty much even now.
Doesn't matter to me, I'm a Sony fan boy...LOL! M$ is not getting anymore of my money and I hate the XBOX controller. -
Aside from the d-pad, the 360 controller is the best one I have ever put my hands on.Lt Dan, mor911 and dolphan117 like this. -
Same. And I have always hated the sony controllers. Tinny little buttons too close together that my thumbs slide off of and hit more then one at once.

mor told me on aim he agreed with my statement about the RROD keeping the ps3 in business.
-
-
:shifty:
-
I've read other reports which state the failure rate is at 30% that seems more realistic to me.
-
Until this last batch at least -
-
I have the six axis controller, not the rumble and it is WAY too light for my liking.
-
I must be one of the lucky ones then. I have an "original" 360, bought it when it first came out over here in the UK, well as soon as I could get my hands on one.
Granted it doesn't get much usage, maybe that's why it hasn't RROD on me. :)
To illustrate how little usage it gets, my gamer points are at 5690 and I've had the console for over 3.5 years. I went over 2 years without getting a single gamer point, that's pretty impressive. :)mor911 likes this. -
