Well thinking about it that would be about right. Timeline wise
-
He won't be able to start making cuts until probably around the Summer. I think he should be ready to go by TC. He won't be the same Ronnie in 2008 that he was to start this year. He could still put up big numbers, but the power he had won't be back until probably late 2008 or 2009.

I found a link. I can't wait to see Ronnie unleashed again next season!

I can see it now though.
I come to visit Finheaven (when it gets back up) and see many many threads calling for RB.
Then the comments well it takes truely two years to come back from a Knee. Defending him.
Man fans are sometimes so predictable I love it.
But hey no bashing this is good news for you. I am just skeptical of him and his durability -
Marshawn Lynch missed three games this year, should we question his durability? -
-
Another need. Geez! -
-
Time for Ricky to earn that trust back. I did'nt want RW back, but next year we could really use him with Ronnie coming back from injury. Hopefully BP can stomach him for a year and we don't have to waste a draft pick on a running back this year. We have so many more pressing needs.
-
So that would concern me about durabillity.
Can you name me ONE season he has carried the entire load and not been hurt to the point of missing games?
All I am saying is he is a very good back. But he still has not prooved to me he can stay on the field a full 16 games.
Heck I will call into question Adrian Peterson's durability as well Has not finished a season since he was a Fresh at OU. But he still is a very good with the potential to be great -
Just in time for the playoffs...sweet....!

What about Samkon Gado? He's played pretty well for us, runs hard doesn't fumble works cheaply...
Gado or Cobbs? -
I would like to see RW shipped to the Pats for two 1st round picks and Tom Brady, but I fear that's not going to fly either ;)
Seriously, the guy is one failed drug test away from a lifelong suspension and coming off a season ending injury after playing about five snaps in two years. Millen isn't the brightest tool in the shed, but he isn't Spielmann either. At best, you're looking at a 6th or 7th (both conditional, of course, and likely production based) and I'd be surprised if you get that to begin with.
As for Gado vs. Cobbs, I'd say it all boils down to who is perceived to be the better ST player. It wouldn't surprise me to see both gone, however, and Julius Jones coming in. -
So to answer your question, no I do not want to put my faith in any of these guys to be my starting running back at the beginning of the 2008 season.
Thus the need for a running back IMO. -
Whatever happens with Rickey will decide what happens with the non starters, if we keep him they both are gone IMO, if we cut him the door is wide open for a competition.
Julius jones is interesting, but there are better areas to spend money on this Free Agent period, DT's Guards, Safeties.... -
The guy has had 3 injuries here. 2 of which do not relate to 'durability' at all. He took a full on hit from a helmet into his hand. The tear was cause he tried to plant and turn completely in the other direction to make a tackle on an INT.
The only legitimate injury that can relate to this fabled "durability" you guys are on about is the hamstring issue his rookie year. -
I can't agree with some of the reasoning behind a player's injuries.
If a guy gets hurt, he's hurt.
An injury is an injury.
This isn't really just about RB, but about any player.
It doesn't matter how he got hurt because the fact his body broke down and couldn't take the punishment in the end makes it the same as any other injury.
That his hand hit a players helmet?
How many hands are smashing into helmets and whatnot all over the place during the course of every game on Sunday's? Yet, Brown's hand broke.
That he cut the wrong way and his ACL went? How many guys make cuts all over the place both in games and in practice and nothing happens? Sure some guys get injured but for the most part to call it a fluke is not right.
An injury is an injury and if a guy has a body that breaks down easier than most then its just a fact of life and the player/team must deal with it the best way they can. -
It would be naiive to say he will be back to his early season form anytime soon, but we can dream. Im not so worried about his durability as he broke his hand and tore a ligament in his knee, both injuries that anybody can sustain. It's not like he has a recurring hamstring issue or something like that. If you smash your hand hard enough against a helmet, it will break obviously.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Julius Jones come in for next season, we will probably need a decent back to start for us next season. -
Look at LT, he knows how to protect himself. -
Finally someone who gets it. We need a quality type running back on this team to fill the void while Ronnie is getting back to his old self. Spend the money if you have to. It will be worth it to bring a guy who can be a true starter and then when Ronnie gets back you have two. Always nice to have two quality backs on your football team. -
I think Ronnie proved that when he gets the ball 20 times a game he is a true #1. To bring in someone (and pay someone) to be the #1 until Ronnie is back to 100% and then hope that guy will somehow take a backseat to Ronnie.......seems like a recipe for disaster. I would be happy with Chatman coming back at the right price or even Ricky (even though I dislike him), but I don't think we need a JJ.
We're not going to be a playoff team next year anyway, so who cares if Ronnie misses a few games while Chatman keeps his spot warm? You know? -
-
-
Does anyone know what Ricky's contract status is? While I really dislike him and think he is far from trustworthy, he might just be the guy that we need for next year.
And no, we aren't going to be a playoff team next year (referencing an earlier post). This team is not 1 or 2 players away from being good. This is a rebuilding team, a team that is very very bad at the moment. I can only hope that Parcells realizes that this team doesn't need a few patches, that it needs to be torn down and recreated in his own image. That means trading JT if the opportunity presents itself. That means acquiring more picks to do this thing right. That means staying away from high priced FA's for a "win now" mindset.
JMO though -
-
You could also make a case for the injury bug, blah blah blah. But the point remains that this team doesn't have the level of talent that it takes to make it to the playoffs. We have some talented players (Zach, JT, Ronnie, etc) but we also have a bunch of disappointing players that haven't stepped it up and may never do so. Add to that the fact that we have a ton of young players that are still learning how to play in the NFL and I don't feel that the playoffs are in our near future. -
Great news, but we need to have reliable backup runningbacks due to concerns about Ronnie's durability.
Really, we need to keep Ricky, Booker, and Chatman. That would give us a chance to work in Ricky, spell Ronnie, and use Booker effectively. -
Why?
Because we have a lack of depth, the players are a year older, we relied too much on younger players to step up their game and injuries took their toll.
Anything can happen, but I wouldn't put any money on the playoffs if I were you.Colorado Dolfan likes this. -
-0- Confidence in any of the QB's on the roster, in the NFL, if it is questionable, it is better to never count on it until it proves itself. -
