From PFT:
The Arizona Cardinals are closing in on a trade to send the quarterback to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for the No. 48 overall selection in the NFL draft, according to Pro Football Talk. The move would come just one day after the team selected Oklahoma's Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick.
Rosen started 13 games for the Cardinals last year as a rookie, throwing for 2,278 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. But new coach Kliff Kingsbury and general manager Steve Keim decided to turn away from the No. 10 pick in last year's draft and invest in Murray, the Heisman Trophy winner who is expected to be the catalyst for the new Air Raid offense.
"It's not just about stacking quarterbacks," Keim said Thursday after Arizona picked Murray. "We have two really good ones. And again, I've said it over and over, depth is a big thing in the NFL. Attrition is real, and you never know when you're going to need another one."
The Dolphins elected not to take a passer with the No. 13 pick in the first round, instead selecting Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins. The team signed veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick this offseason after trading starter Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans.

This has completely deflated me. I've lost all my excitement. Fitz was going to be a disaster but entertaining in its own way.
Hope I'm wrong or it's something mental like we swap 2nds.texanphinatic and Nappy Roots like this. -
If it happens better a 2nd round than a first.
I don't hate it. I'm not a personal fan of Rosen, but right now, the biggest search for this franchise is finding the right QB. Spending a 2nd round pick on someone who 'might' be that guy is fine if they believe in him. Low cost test. If after a year they don't like what they see, then they move on - or they aim for another QB anyway.
What I would disagree with is if the franchise come out and say this is now our guy. That would be premature.Irishman and AGuyNamedAlex like this. -

Seriously. Use the rest of the draft for oline. Lol. Especially if we aren't losing a second round pick, we can definitely try to get that line halfway functional for him.

Trade rashad jones for rosen. Keep our draft picks. Jones quit on us last year. Let him go.

I'm predicting the Patriots will swoop in and nab Rosen for a 7th next year, two tickets to the End Game, and a box of Raisinets. ;-)

LMAO .......for a second, no way that happens IMHO......Miami has all the leverage and no way they should do this for a 2. This would be example 2 of amateur hour if so. Really like the player, IMHO he is going to be just fine and might be much better than that but situationally it is just crazy to do this deal at this time for a second.....a three is most likely, with the outside possibility it is a 4.

I don't know how to imbed tweets on here but from Adam Beasley
Source tells me that for the Dolphins to consider parting with their second-round pick for Rosen, they would likely need a fourth back from the Cardinals. -
From a Rosen standpoint I do too. From a Dolphins standpoint, I don't.
1. Not a big fan of Rosen. He has all the measurable, but is a consistent underachiever. I don't hold last year against him, but he underachieved in college too.
2. This is a no-brainer from the dolphins side. Potential QB who comes cheap even if he flops. A 2nd and 6 million salary is nothing for a QB with this potential, and doesn't lock us out of drafting a QB next year if need be. -
Not sure how I feel about this. Maybe for our third round choice. We need another definite starter with that second.

After thinking about it a while I am starting to change my mind about Rosen. The way I see it is the Cardinals want to move on from Rosen because they don't want a QB controversy. However, that situation doesn't need apply to us. If we trade for Rosen this year, and take a QB next year or in 2021, providing he doesn't end up being the better of the two QB's, we can always trade Rosen later for a pick > than what we will be giving up this year. Injuries happen all the time, and if a team is making a run, they get desperate. It also doesn't hurt having a legit #2 if that is how it works out. Obviously, I prefer to give up a day 3 pick, and if we can come away with Wilkins, Rosen, and our #2 pick, there is a good possibility that we could end up with 3 starters, and to me, that's not too shabby considering one of them could be our starting QB.

Somebody smarter than me; what is the worst case scenario if this deal went through? I've got Rosen turns out to be like RT17 in that he's a limited QB and that the player we were going to pick up with the pick turns into a multi-time pro bowler.

So looking at the draft value chart which is a good general reference....if you get a 4 back then you gave away points equalling pick 57 or a mid 2nd.............if you get a 3 back then you gave away points equalling pick 87 which is a third....so you almost have to get a third back or you lose. So if you only get a 4 back it essentially equals 8 draft slots from your second ...... not worth it.

If I am Miami given my needs on the lines and this being a deep line class on both sides, I might consider a 3 next year and a 4 this year for 48.................

Man, giving up a 2 when you are staring at the potential of some really really good players being available? Meh.
IMO, wait and see who drops to us in the second before we make anything official, and preferably grab AZ's third rounder rather than fourth.
It's hard to get really excited about a guy who was, frankly, really bad. Best case is we turn him into Jared Goff 2.0. Worst case is we saw pretty well what he is last year and we give up a valuable pick for someone else's trash.PhinFan1968 and Miamiforlife like this. -

I think everyone is just guessing at this point as 48 straight up makes no sense.
-
I would not be happy giving away a 2nd round pick unless we had an extra pick in said round. I was happy with our first pick, but I hope they do not blow a 2nd rounder.

Hell if you gonna give up 48 and get nothing or a token back...keep 48 and roll with whatever QB is next on your list for the extra year under the rookie deal. Save yourself a couple mil difference between a QB @ 10 salary and a QB @ 48 salary...
