Why would Titans trade Roos? MJD I can understand. Gross I can understand because he's 33.
Roos is 31, but he's very durable and their team is playing pretty well right now.MrClean likes this. -
Some guy from footballnation.com and it's hard to know if he's got any credibility whatsoever.
The Michael Roos offer doesn't pass the availability sniff test. Who would replace him? Mike Otto or Byron Stingily? Doubtful on that one.
Similarly, who would the Panthers replace Jordan Gross with? Nate Chandler? Really?
The Maurice Jones-Drew rumor at least makes some sense. The Jags have to be looking at a sell-off and MJD is in his final year of his contract. The Dolphins have specifically told Armando that the running back position is not the position they're looking at, but that could be an effort to throw people off. They can always claim later that "something came up, things changed" if they do end up with MJD.
I'm trying to decide if that would be a good thing or not though. Most recently when I watched MJD I ended up thinking to myself, he's lost something.mbsinmisc likes this. -

Wonder if Duane Brown is available.

Spending picks on linemen is a good idea. Look at Ireland's record drafting them. How many mid round picks washed out? I would get Barbre and stick him at guard moving Incognito over. That's a start. I don't care if you use picks if it helps you get over your main problem (inability to draft linemen out of the first round). Ill take sending the third that would eventually become Dallas Thomas for a solid RT.
-
MJD I think would fit what they need to a certain degree. But the issue with him is his health. Watching him play, he looks like he lost a lot of his burst. -
I wouldn't give up anything higher than a 4th for MJD, and that would be pushing it.

I think part of the solution could already be on the roster to be honest. I read an article by Chris Perkins today, the gist of which was that Marcus Thigpen told the coaches he'd like to step up and get more work and help the Dolphins get better with the ground game...and the coaches politely told him no.
Screens are a great way to keep a defense from pinning their ears back going after the passer. And Mike Pouncey happens to be one of the best interior linemen in all of football at getting out for a screen block.the 23rd, Ohio Fanatic and MikeHoncho like this. -
If Ireland is looking for a RB its because Philbin wants one. I hope we get mjd but like others have mentioned and everyone knows we need to fix our on-line woes.
On the bright side, our defense will be healthythe 23rd likes this. -

I can't believe we let Reggie Bush walk for nothing, when signing him would of been easy, and we're now potentially (key word) in the market for a RB that may end up costing draft picks.

It could be that he's lost some hope and inspiration, but the Jags have been bad for a long time so it's not like this year is anything new. It might have an effect, but I would guess the injury is what's slowed him down more at the moment.rafael likes this. -
Kinda like taking a whole season to figure out that Odrick is a better DT than DE, and hanging on to the thought that OV is really good at..anything..Clark Kent likes this. -

How hard is it to recoup a fourth round pick in the NFL draft? How hard is it to recoup a lost franchise quarterback? That should answer the question. I would trade for Peters, Barbre, and a right tackle.

yea, what is the problem with trading picks? it's not like ireland has any clue how to draft a lineman or running back in later rounds anyways...

As much as I was OK with this move at the time, it had more to do with the belief that they KNEW Miller was ready. This move is going to go down as a pretty obvious negative against Ireland. I can't believe they let him walk without a concrete answer there. -
-
It isn't Miller that's the problem, it's that they don't have a 2nd guy there that's the problem. I'm willing to look past that to some degree, but not so much ignoring the available veteran RBs that they could have had. They do that quite often to try to let young players grow, but I really don't give a **** about a 2nd RB or a SOLB, or a RG growing into his position.

Mando:
The Dolphins this evening announced they cut DT Marvin Austin, which is not an intriguing move other than it strongly suggests the team is about to fill the vacant roster spot with another player.
And that means the Dolphins are trying to add a player to help them the remainder of this year.
But here's the deal, it is not a running back, as a source told me this evening the Dolphins are not looking in that direction right now.

If it's Jason Peters I'm going to cheer. What are they going to lose out on the next Daniel Thomas or John Jerry?

There's always that involved in the situation. The veteran you acquire has to have a reasonable salary.
It could be Jordan Gross being placed at right tackle. He's only 33, I'd say he could play three years if he wanted to at that spot. -
Another avenue here is maybe the Dolphins are throwing out trade rumors to motivate Miller and Thomas into getting themselves straightened out.
