I guess Burrow didn’t learn anything from that gruesome injury he suffered.

I’d still want Pitts or even Smith if Sewell was still on the board. I think this draft has some darn good O-Line options in the second round, and this team is in need of some game breakers, and Pitts is just that.

 

The only risk would be Atlanta if they decided not to take a QB or trade down. Taking a WR or TE that high with the frenzy for QB's this year seems foolish. So let's say they take Pitts and Chase goes #5, I take Sewell at 6 and then address WR with 18 or 36.

Hopefully someone moves up to 4 to take a QB or Atlanta drafts one so we get either Pitts or Chase.

 

Is there any chance Atlanta takes one of the big CB? Cornerback are premium positions and generally go in the top 10.

 

Falcons need a CB but I don't think they take one at #4. I think they're hoping for a trade but the most likely trade partners are New England (which doesn't have the assets to move into the slot) and Carolina (a division rival with whom they won't deal). Their GM said that he's a strict BPA proponent, even for positions at which they're well stocked. If that's the case, I'd think they're taking Sewell at #4 and leaving Chase to the Bengals. If Chase is off the boards, I'm thinking we're drafting Pitts.

 

Not a great value at 4, and I'm not sure any of this year's bunch are Jalen Ramsey.

IMO they need to take a QB and move on from Ryan. That new coach tying himself to an overpriced and aging Matt Ryan would be foolish and a quick ticket to getting fired. Draft Lance, he gets to sit for a year, drop Ryan next year, eat the cap hit, drop Jones and eat his cap hit and now you can actually rebuild.

 

I think your second point may apply to their thinking as well - there are some good tackle options that will be available in round 2 for the Bengals. If they think Reiff can be a suitable LT, they may try and take a Mayfield or Radunz in round 2 for RT and move Jonah Williams inside.

 

I have two former players on the Bengals. I speak with one of them frequently. I can tell you that the Bengals are high on Sewell, Chase, and Pitts. Burrow is definitely all in on Chase and thinks he will make them "lots better"

 

Is Burrow on track to start week 1? I haven't seen anything on him for a few months now.

Edit- Burrow claims that he's ahead of schedule and expecting to start week 1. Hoping it's true and he's able to come back 100%!

Getting back to the topic at hand, I'd key on Pitts, Sewell and Waddle...in that order. I'd be thrilled with Chase or Smith as well though, so it's really what this front office values in this draft. Heck, I still think Flores would be pushing for Parsons and that incredible, world-class speed for a 250 pound wrecking ball.

 

We could always move up for Parsons if he falls a bit.

 

I wanted Sewell at 3, so I'd jump all over that at 6.

 

So did Kyle Shannahan just basically come out and say they are taking Mac Freaking Jones at 3?



Holy eff that might really mix things up - Falcons have their choice of Fields/Lance, and Carolina now gets the chance to jump and take someone. How absolutely bonkers would it be if we traded with Carolina?!?!?!?!

 

I don't blame him. I don't like Trey Lance.

 

Super high ceiling, but playing only like 17 games, and not even in the top division ... big bust potential. He would be a really intriguing pickup for a team that doesn't need him to start immediately. Falcons for instance. The raw ability and tools are just so high.

Jones I just don't know. The complete lack of mobility in today's NFL is hard to swallow, especially when you are talking about giving up the kind of assets they just gave up. Three first rounders and a third for Mac Jones? Man, that's a big gamble.

According to CBS Sports, the Iggles traded down to #12 because they coveted Chase at #6 and are convinced that the Bengals are going to grab him. With a month to go, we may see the most predictable top 10 in years.

The Philadelphia Eagles held prime real estate in the 2021 NFL Draft with the No. 6 pick, positioned to snag one of the top three wide receivers available. Then, in a matter of minutes after the Miami Dolphins traded down from No. 3 to No. 12, the Eagles found themselves acquiring the No. 12 selection.

Philadelphia traded back six spots in the NFL Draft with Miami and received a 2022 first-round pick in the process, leaving the city confused why the Eagles wouldn't just stay at No. 6 and select one of the top three wide receivers in Ja'Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, or Jaylen Waddle (or get more creative and select tight end Kyle Pitts).

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer revealed why the Eagles decided to trade back from that No. 6 spot in the first place. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was convinced the Cincinnati Bengals were going to draft the wide receiver they really wanted at No. 5 -- the spot right before the Eagles were to pick.

"And with the Eagles believing there is a pretty good chance the Bengals will take LSU's Ja'Marr Chase at five," Breer wrote,"Philly felt comfortable with the difference in talent between six and 12 — and also operated with the knowledge that it'd be hard to get a future first (this being Miami's slotted No. 1 in 2022) in exchange for moving down closer to the draft, particularly if it looked like the top four picks would be QBs."


While it appears Chase was the Eagles' primary target at No. 6, Roseman seemed convinced the Bengals would take him at five as the first non-quarterback off the board -- instead of Cincinnati taking offensive lineman Penei Sewell. Trading down from No. 6 to No. 12 allows the Eagles to reset and still find a playmaker in the process.

Philadelphia is banking on another quarterback being selected in the top 10, which would be a maximum of five quarterbacks taken in the top 10 spots (assuming the top four picks are quarterbacks). Offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, cornerback Patrick Surtain II, and linebacker Micah Parsons could also be selected before the Eagles pick at No. 12. That's nine picks -- including the Chase to Bengals report -- leaving two more selections before Philadelphia picks at No. 12. Smith and Waddle could be taken before then, but the Eagles could have the one playmaker remaining between Smith, Chase, and Pitts -- still getting the playmaker they would have taken at No. 6 and acquiring more draft assets in the process.


If the Eagles do end up with one of the top wide receivers (or Pitts) at No. 12, the trade is a win for Roseman and the Eagles' front office.

 

It's a HUGE gamble. I like Mac Jones...as a second rounder. Maybe late first if someone already has their key positions filled. But third overall? That's just nuts. But I think Trey Lance is just as big of a gamble and if there weren't so many teams crazy desperate for a QB, he'd be going in the late first.

It's not about the position. Do you think he's a generational talent? Then you take Pitts at 6. Like if you knew then what you know now, Gronk would probably be the number one pick in that draft. Lol

 

Yeah, if you KNOW he's gonna be Gronk. But unfortunately, we don't. He could be a huge bust and that's awfully early to take a TE. I don't even want to take a WR that high, honestly.

And coincidentally his dad Mike made sure Denver sent no reps to Jay Cutler’s pro day. And admitted after the draft he didn’t want anyone to think Denver had any interest, but always intended to take Cutler.

He is just as much of a WR as TE and he is too unique to worry about that you normally wouldn't want a TE drafted there.

 

There's a good chance the draft has 4 straight QB's selected. At this point if the Falcons trade back, it's going to happen. If the 4 straight QB's comes to pass, the Bengals select Chase and we have a fantastic group to choose from. Pitts has to be the man! I still predict WR Smith slides, and I'd love to move that 2023 1st rounder to move up from #18 overall and grab Smith too somewhere between 12 and 15 overall. Otherwise sit at 18 and pick RB Harris or a stud Edge rusher. It's a really exciting time to be a Dolphin.

 

Forgot to mention - Bengals can go Chase RD 1 because there will be a quality OT for them in Rd 2 early.

 

If rumors are correct, the Niners are going to draft Mac Jones and either Fields or Lance will be available at #6. You can bet your butt Grier made his trade after Lynch revealed his target. With that being said, don't rule out the Fins taking a QB at #6.

Yes, it could also mean that they are high on Sewell, Smith, Pitts, and even Waddle. And felt none of those players would be there at 12.

 

Absolutely.
I just pointed out Sewell bc a lot of people are zeroed in on a pass catcher.
And seem to assume that we traded out of 3 bc we aren’t planning to take Sewell.

To me, If we wanted an OL the sweet spot was at 12 and keeping all 3 #1's from SF, because Slater or Sewell could have been there.
