Oh, I personally think that 12 is very very very high for this kid. He was perhaps the best defensive player for the Longhorns this last year, but that is like being the tallest midget. I got tired of watching this kid get absolutely smoked on play action. He is a "Pretty" good tackler but can be a really bite on the Play Action.

I would suffice to say he might still be there when we pick 2b......

 

That’s exactly right – he’s a play action lover…..takes a good two or three HARD steps on play action and he’s then a major liability over the top. He also plays way out of control at times. He’s like an exocet with no off switch. Neither am I a fan of his angles. He takes some HEINOUS ones at times. I’m talking Taylor Mays bad every now and again. But he’s a major league physical hitter with ball skills and good feet who’s tough and can play the slot. Question for me is, although they play different positions, Alec Ogletree can do what Vaccaro does, only better.

 

I personally like Eric Reid more than Vaccaro, though neither is without their faults.

 

Except that you're never going to confuse Eric Reid with a guy you line up on the slot receiver.

 

Not sure if it's true or not.....but I am hearing here in Dallas that there is a walk-on at the Longhorns Pro-Day alongside Vacarro et el..... VY is reportedly showing at the Pro-day....... Not sure he can even do that, but that's what my radio show here is saying.

It's been covered before that Vince Young is going to try to catch on with a pro team again. Texas already said he was going to be at their pro day.

 

I like Cyprien better, myself..... and believe Bacarri Rambo has enough underlying ability to be coached up into a quality player.

I don't see what the fuss is about regarding Vaccaro. He does not have speed or much of a play maker. 5 int's in 4 years. I will flip out if we draft him at 12. Personally I like Clemons much better. He looks more like an "in the box" SS than a FS to me.

 

I like Vacarro. I think that having a S that can cover the slot is extremely valuable with the way the league is going. But I also like Cyprien. So while I would definitely consider Vacarro at #12, I would go Austin there and take Cyprien in the 2nd.

 

Those contracts may foretell that draft someone to fill both or at least one of those positions, but there is honestly nothing to suggest they will be high picks. You can get value for both of those positions in the middle to late rounds. It doesn't have to be in the first 50 picks in order to draft decent to good players.

 

Those contracts may also point to the Dolphins having players on their roster currently that Ireland wants to see show up. Keller? Maybe we give Egnew another season to demonstrate if he's worth keeping on.

Not sure what you're seeing that would conclude you to say he doesn't have speed as that's patently false. Whilst I'm not a fan, it's fairly obvious he's a fast player, especially when working across the field.

 

All this about we MUST have a blocking tight end.....which one of the four Green Bay tight ends that Philbin used was a superior blocker?

Kept Egnew from getting on the field last year. Not to say we must have a blocking TE but one that can block.

 

Vaccaro ran a 4.63 40. Clemons ran a 4.3 something.

 

It really didn't. Egnew had issues with the playbook. If he'd have understood the playbook, they would have used him very much like they used Jermichael Finley which was either to run down the seam from either the weak or strong side of the tackle or from the slot.

 

He didn't but it's fine. Lavernues Coles ran a 4.19 at FSU. Anquan Boldin a 4.67. Who's the better player ON FILM.

 

The point in question was about "speed". Not who's better in the NFL. That won't be answered until he actually gets in the NFL.

I never said a player has to have speed to be successful. I said Vaccaro didn't have speed. He ran a 4.63 at the combine and didn't run at his pro day because of a "hip issue". Not sure what your disputing. Clemons ran a 4.41 at the combine.

 

I'm disputing the fact that anyone who says Kenny Vaccaro plays slow clearly hasn't seen Kenny Vaccaro play. It's fairly simple.

It is what it is.

 

I'm also not a huge fan of Vaccaro, but indeed, field speed is actually one of his strengths...that is one of his few strengths...but it is a strength.
