Well, that should motivate the fellas in the Defensive Backfield...post it up on the Billboard as soon as TC starts.

Well first of all you have to relize that this is Sporting News, and much like every sports magazine in America now-a-days everyone is in LOVE with the Patriots, so I wasn't shocked to see the Pats at 9.
However, we ONLY have Will Allen. Our next best corner is porbably Micheal Lehan, Andre Goodman, or Travis Daniels. Now, even though those aren't the best #2 guys, I agree with you in that, we should have been higher than #16. -

Todd Bowles is a very sharp cookie though, his schemes have proven productive where ever he has coached, and Saban made do with Daniels, Allen and Goodman, so "with luck" we will be able to make do with them as well this year.sws84 likes this. -
However, I agree with you that we should be ahead of all of those teams you mentioned except Houston. Duante Ronbinson I'd take over Will Allen by a lot. -
-
Saban made due with them though, that is what strikes me, if Lil' Nicky can do it, there is no reason why Bowles and Coach P can't. -
Hmmmm, lemme see, we went 1-15, we allowed some serious bombs to be thrown against us all season long, we drafted how many CB's? We picked up how many CB's in FA? (thinking here . . . . 0+0=?) OK. Where else would anyone EXPECT us to be ranked? Not saying I like it, just not sure how we could expect to be ranked anywhere else when considering the facts.
I do think if our secondary stays healthy this season, and we can figure out how to stop the run, and we somehow start to generate a pass rush, that we could be improved quite a bit in our secondary. A lot of "ifs" there though.Bpk likes this. -
I don't find it too surprising since I doubt many QB's have any fear that our CB's will intercept their passes, especially Will Allen. Allen can be a good #2 CB but I just have the confidence that he's the cover corner to put on another team's elite WR one on one. He can rush the QB and make the tackle but just lacks that man-to-man cover ability. One solid corner who's lacking in terms of playmaking ability against the pass with some scrubs isn't something I like to see.

Mike Lehan is going to suprise some folk on this board, the kid is really coming into his own.
I said last year at the end of the year and i will say it again, hes gonna be good, above average good.
Don't forget after evaluating all the players on our squad last year, he wass the very first player our new regime gave a shiny new contract to...to me that tells me my analysis of him was validated -
What did you like about Lehan's play Dj? -

I can see a low rankiing but without Bodden I do think the Browns might be worse. Still, if they disagree...count my unsurprised.

I wonder if that is based on their believed level of talent or performance from last year. I believe that the best friend to our secondary is a strong pass rush and a solid run defense. Too much time was given to opposing QB's last year. Hopefully that is a trend that is over.

It is what it is, and you have to call it like you see it. You can't turn a battleship on a dime and Parcells and Co. can't right this ship in one offseason. It wasn't as high a priority this year as other positions but it will be addressed next year. I am soo happy that the Oline is finally taking shape and looks really promising and I have no doubt that after next years draft the same will be said for our secondary.

We are bad at Cornerback. Will Allen is fine but thats all well and good when if we only needed one Cornerback on the field. When we go Dime we are found wanting. Daniels hasnt got cover speed and Lehan hasnt shown me hes anything special. We will get beat alot. Lets hope the D-Line can put some pressure on up front.
