"I'd like to get around to talking to him about something long term," Steve Ross said about a multi-year deal for Ryan Tannehill.

"I like Tannehill. He's a fine guy. Has all the great characteristics you want," Ross said. "He hasn't shown he can hit the deep ball."

I'm sorry, to quote Steve Ross accurately, he said Tannehill hasn't shown he can "connect" not hit the deep ball.
Funny how honest Stephen Ross is haha -

Good cop, bad cop. That comes off as planned. Tannenbaum talks about paying Tannehill a bunch of money while Ross points out Tannehill can't hit the deep ball.

A QB who is playing at the level he played at this season all while showing significant improvement in each of his first 3 seasons in the league is gonna get paid. No way around it.

How has no one mentioned the latter in that article? lol if Dallas Thomas is our starting G going into the season, I don't think RT will make it to pay day.

While you're hear give us some Jets fan input on what you guys have done so far... -
Adding to that... Dwight Stephenson. There wasn't a better center you could give to a QB like Marino.77FinFan likes this. -

The owner of the Colts has stated that they will wait until 2016 to enter into contract negotiations with Andrew Luck. He has led the Colts to the playoffs in all three years as their starting QB. He is widely accepted by everyone who follows the NFL as the best young QB in the NFL and most likely the soon to be best QB in the entire league.
Yet the Colts are in no hurry to sign Luck to a new contract. So I have no idea why the Dolphins are in such a hurry to sign a QB who has never even led his team to a winning season,to a new long term contract.
They should just let Tannehill know they will pick up the option for his 2016 contract and see if he continues to develop as an NFL QB in 2015. If he has a great season and leads the team to the playoffs, they can always work out a new contract after the season. If on the otherhand the Dolphins once again fail to have a winning season, the team will not a lot of long term money tied up in a QB the next HC might want to replace.shula_guy likes this. -

exactly right
THILL is still a big question mark. Talk about contracts next year this is way premature -

Tannehill however is still in a situation in which the Dolphins can sign him before he potentially breaks out and maybe get him for cheaper than otherwise. 5th year option for Tannehill and his average yearly salary of his potential new contract are likely very similar numbers. -

Luck is going to be one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league. -
-
If however he continues his trend to improve every season and has, next season, an improvement proportional to his 13-14 improvement, you can best believe he and his agent are going to be asking for a lot more money. That's the risk the Dolphins are taking that the Colts are not because they already know Luck will likely make a record amount of money. -
This cannot be stressed enough....

The biggest discrepancy is sacks. You gotta wonder why there's still questions about Tannehill when he plays like Brady. This proves the difference between winning teams and average teams can sometimes be players other than the QB...because if Tannehill is an average QB, then so is Brady.first&goal, 2socks, Ducken and 1 other person like this. -
Great news but I would've preferred they pick up the 5th year option instead. His stats are impressive but I don't think he deserves Flacco money yet. We still haven't made the playoffs under his leadership.
