Given the bountygate sanctions, not unprecedented for Pouncey and Philbin to get a year as well.

Oh hell yeah, its what today's media does in overreacting and sensationalism.

 

Its all media driven and image oriented with the NFL, I've worked in many of work places where a lot of those same terms are thrown around very loosely and I imagine if I would have went to any of my superiors with a complaint like that I would have been given a very strange look.

I would imagine if Jonathan Martin or whomever else would have had a serious conversation with these people harassing them about how they feel about it that would have went a long way into decreasing it.

If I were Dolphins coach I would file attempted murder charges over that picture John sent to Richie about killing people who demote him.

This is all an overblown ridiculous situation, not saying harassment is OK but you have to know how to handle it better.

Hopefully this helps Miami avoid any serious sanctions. The cover up is part of why the Saints were hit so hard during the bounty scandal.

 

But in the texts they def hung with Samuda......they talked about a guy in those texts that they wanted Incognito to tell to quit.....

I was about 90% sure I knew who "Player A" was based on Incognito's text history but something in the fine book has me wondering about a different player.

Incognito deserves an indefinite (but not technically lifetime) suspension.

Jerry and Pouncey probably deserve eh maybe 8 games (and an understanding if they come close to this again they're getting Incognito treatment).

Turner should get at least a year suspension but it probably won't matter what he gets. Is somebody really going to rehire?

I'm starting to actually hope Philbin gets a year. I'd think that will make it a whole new ballgame for the question of him staying with the team.

To your specific comments, do you think a HC or any coach is going to be aware of all private conversations between his players and how one may not be able to handle them?
Are they supposed to freak out if they think players are ribbing each other in a fashion that goes on from the lowest of levels of sports to the highest? If they do hear comments which they will in locker room how are they supposed to know that one specific player is not able to handle this out of a locker room full of men participating and laughing in similar daily banter?

Maybe they should have realized that Martin is socially challenged and "protected him" from the regular interactions between players he was not able to handle but honestly this is a grown man. At what point does he grow up and is able to handle group dynamics on his own?

The investigator himself in a very very weak way admits that there was no intent to harass Martin at all.
He had to admit that with all the evidence of Martin joining in with these very people in the "Hardline talk/ribbing" text message, voice message, and whatever other communications they could review. It's clear he didn't want to but he had to thankfully. At the end of the day Martin by all accounts and evidence of his own communications was just fine "being one of the boys" until something changed. Whether that change be Martin's starting position being in jeopardy, mamma Martin's legal opportunism being presented to him, pressure of not making it in the NFL, etc. is all up for debate. At the end of the day this is all still a big charade wreaking of BS.

 

I think it's putting it mildly to say it's simply jokes from friends. It's looking like a perfect storm of a band of relentless aholes and a guy who refused to stick up for himself. Both parties are equally at fault here.

 

Jim Turner is hot garbage. He is a complete and utter embarrassment.

Are you reading about the consistent harassment of an assistant trainer or the gay bashing of a player whose name is being kept anonymous? If you've seen these things and you're still saying sh-t like this...holy cow.

Jon Martin isn't cut out for the NFL, handled all of this improperly, and is personally responsible for whatever behavior he engaged in that he supposedly disapproved of. But that doesn't detract from Jim Turner's extraordinarily inappropriate actions, his non-cooperation with the investigation, or the reprehensible actions of Pouncey, Jerry and Incognito...especially with respect to the assistant trainer and whoever "Player A" is.

 

I'm not trying to defend Martin because he went about all of this in the worst possible way and deserves a large portion of criticism...but I can definitely imagine it would be tough to "stand up" to guys in his unit, whom he clearly wanted to fit in with, when doing so would probably ostracize him from the group. Some people are not strong enough to stand on their own. Martin appears to be one of those people.
