With National Signing Day fast approaching, the nation's top players will be on display on Saturday January 5. On NBC, you will have the Army All-American Game, and on ABC you will get to see the Under-Armour All-American game.
As national signing day approaches some of the top players remain uncommitted...
Terrelle Pryor-The top QB in the country has trimmed his list to five schools; Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, and Florida. The general consensus among experts is he'll be heading to either Michigan or Ohio State, but don't exclude the homestate Lions.
Julio Jones-The Nation's top WR has OU,Alabama,Florida State, Texas Tech, and I believe Auburn as his finalists. The favorites are Alabama and OU, but rumors are the Red Raiders are starting to pull him in.
Darrell Scott-Top RB in the country. Finalists are Colorado,Florida,Texas, and LSU. The decision will ultimately come down to Colorado and Florida. Watch Colorado pull the shocker due to Scott's uncle being a WR on the team.
Patrick Johnson-Who knows with this kid anymore. Once the crown jewel of the Miami recruiting class, the nation's top CB has flip flopped his decision several times. After going on Generation Next and declaring himself 100% Miami, he went on Rivals radio today and said they were out of the race. Who knows? If he is not a Cane, expect him to be a member of the LSU team.
Matt Patchan-This OT will more than likely go to a state school. Expect the decision to come down to the Gators or the Canes.
DeAndre Brown-One of the top WRs in the country. THe Mississippi kid is an Ole Miss lean right now, but LSU is making a late charge.
TJ Bryant-Hard to gage where this CB is right now, but it looks like Bama is the leader.
There are others uncommitted, but those are the top dogs. Other news...
Nolan Brewster, a top S prospect currently committed to the Longhorns, is gonna take an official to Minnesotta. Should Texas be worried? Yes. The head coach of the Gophers happens to be Brewster's dad, and despite the Gophers 1-11 record, Nolan could come in and start as a true freshman. Is Blood thicker than Water?
Several UCLA commitments, including price S Rahim Moore, are waiting to see who Coach Neuhisel keeps on the staff. If Neuheisel does not keep DC Dwyane Walker, expect several defensive decommitments from the Bruins
Despite being a solid verbal to the Canes, Marcus Forston is seriously intrigued by North Carolina and has been for some time. The thought of teaming with Marvin Austin is very appealing to him.

I do not see Forston not coming to the U, but it is recruiting and anything can happen as evidenced by the PJ story today. Rumors are rampant that PJ wanted $$$$ and also that he could not get into Miami. There are even rumors he will still commit to the U, which I doubt. Marcus Robinson is a more concerning issue to me personally than Forston.
The U regardless will have a great class, but i would warn Miami fans or fans in general that we have for the most part only read about these kids and not actually seen these kids so how can we actually have an opinion other than trusting some third party site and our favorite teams evaluation....
Also these kids have to develop in most cases and simply put, many do not. Especially OL'men. Two of the best I ever actually saw play were Greg Frye at Clearwater (FSU) and Nathan Rhodes (Washington) in LA...both ended up sucking in college. -
FAU should have a good class with their win in the New Orleans Bowl and winning the share of the Sun Belt championship.
They have one commitment so far: OL Joseph Dawson -
I am of the strong opinion that Fortson ends up at Miami, and that Patrick Johnson was never coming here to begin with. I think he was using the U for leverage and like "my 2 cents" said for the $$$$$$. I firmly believe that Fortson loves the U, he has been as strong of a recruiter as any coach at Miami. I have heard that he helped bring Arthur Brown down to Miami. If he is going to change his mind, he has to do it soon, he plans on enrolling at the U in about a week or so. I don't know if Tommy Streeter ends up here either, I have read they are about to remove their offer from the table because he is playing games.
I completely agree that you can't read too much into a recruiting class, there are quite a few guys that have come through Miami and are now Pro Bowlers who were 1 and 2 star recruits. I think it comes down to how good of an evaluator of talent you really are, and how good of a developer of that talent you are. We'll find out about Randy ability to evaluate talent very quickly, because alot of these guys are going to be playing significant time next year. -

I think I would prefer Ben Jones, he just looks nasty!! Patchan would be nice, there is just something about Ben Jones, he seems to have "it". I can't really explain why.
You hit the nail on the head with Streeter, I read an article about him that said he didn't feel appreciated by the staff at Miami. The one thing I love about the way RS seems to be recruiting is, he's not kissing anybody's butt!! He seems to be telling them the way it is, laying out the ground rules and telling them exactly what he expects, and I love it.
What do you think about Jacory Harris, can he push Mavre to be the starter next year? I guess the first question is, does he end up at the U?
I'm also concerned about the TE position, what are your thoughts? -
don't know about the game on ABC, but several recruits will be announcing where they will commit during the Army All American Bowl. Those confirmed include Brandon Smith and Shane Hale. More than that will announce their intentions, but those are the only ones confirmed right now
-
I think that it is 50-50 let the best man win when it comes to Marve/Harris. I love Harris attitude and he seems like a more natural leader than Marve...Marve reminds me a bit of Charlie Ward attitude wise...great player but needs to be surrounded with other great players...Harris makes good players great...IMHO. I prefer Harris. I think the unsung recruit may be Taylor Cook. I saw a you tube video and he has his head on a pendalum unlike Freeman/Wright. He sees the whole field, and although not having the mobility of Marve or Harris he seems like a better natural passer with a better feel for the passing game. Marve and Harris are great fits for an offense that relies on more mobile QB's...IMHO watch out for Taylor Cook. But between RM and JH, I prefer Harris.
At TE, I don't know i have the same concerns...but Adderly is a 6-6 recruit from last year out of Simpsonville, SC and apparently is up to 230 with 4.5 speed so he may be a darkhorse...Bottom line...I have concerns at that position also... -
Terrelle Pryor has added a fifth team to his list... DUKE. Pryor really likes David Cutcliffe, but don't read too much into it
-
I am going to look for videos of taylor cook, i do know this, i love big QB's and he's 6' 7".
-
That would be awesome if Pryor went to Duke!! But, you're right I won't read too much into it! -
-
final 3 for Patrick Johnson- LSU,Florida, and FSU.
Pryor showed up to registrations wearing a Michigan sweatshirt so take that for what it's worth (Not getting my hopes up, but the thought of him and McGuffie running the spread makes me happy:thumbup:)
RB Ryan Williams will announce between BC and Virginia Tech
Shane Hale is between Pitt and OSU
not sure who are the finalists for Brandon Smith but it's a combo of Michigan,Rutgers,South Carolina,Colorado,Florida, and Florida State. But he's only made3 visits; Michigan,Rutgers, and Colorado so I'm guessing those are the favorites. -

FSU may not want to give the NCAA any MORE reason to look into their program....and Florida, despite my man Motion being a great guy does not have the best reputation recruiting wise either. Rumor has it Suburban Meyer is not real welcome at some S.Fla HS's. That the negative Sean Taylor stuff he spread at MNW and the Javon Snead recruitment documented in Meat Market, and Orgeron's comments, make me think Urban is a hit and run guy that cannot sustain a lengthy time anywhere...plus the rumors are flying in Atlanta about the Falcons job.....
Shannon is going about it the right way no bs.....now we will see if he can actually coach... -
Michigan's chances of landing Pryor just took a giant step forward.
Ryan Mallett is transferring to UCLA -

His Mom says its not true...atleast not yet. I think he follows UMs QB Coach Loeffler who supposively Neuheisal is talking to

list of whose committing tommarrow at the Army All-American Game and where I think they'll go
Patrick Johnson 5* CB-LSU: Kid has been really shoddy during his recruiting process, but LSU has been there the whole time. With the Tigers losing both starters, Johnson could not only play a lot as a freshmen, but start
AJ Harmon 4*OG-Clemson:Georgia is making a late push at the Clemson commit. But in the end I think he stays firm to his commitment
Gerrell Robinson 4* Athlete-Notre Dame:Between ND and ASU and reports are he's a strong Irish lean. Big mistake IMO
Shayne Hale 4* DE-Pitt: Between Pitt and OSU. His cousin just committed to Pitt a month ago, and many consider them a package deal.
Ryan Willaims 4* RB-VTech:He's a strong Hokey lean, but don't count out the Eagles, who can garuntee him a starting spot as a freshmen.
Brandon Smith 4* ATH/S-Michigan:It's between MIchigan and South Carolina and he's been hanging around Sam McGuffie more than any other player in San Antonio. Smith could start right away at S(his preferred position), but could the high school QB also find his way into Rich Rod's offense?
Solomon Koehler 4*OG-Arizona: The Hawaii native could stay with the hometown Warriors, but the lure to play Pac-10 Football is too much to overlook
Marqueis Gray 4* QB-Minnesota: The number 2 duo threat QB in the nation behind Terrelle Pryor. Could start right away in Coach Brewster's spread offense.
Deion Walker is supposedly announcing tommarrow during the Under Armour All-American Game (either PSU or ND), and there might be others announcing in that game, but I'm not sure. -
-
Plus, Mallett kept putting MM into horrible positions against Wisconsin. Mario was so upset with the lack of good passes and the big hits he was taking only HenneLong, and Hart could calm him down.
I hope Mallett decides to stay since Rodriguez said he'd base the offense around him. But if we got Pryor.... -
I've heard nothing but good things about the University of Michigan. You'd think a passing QB would pray to God every day thanking him for making WR's like that :confused2: -
I didnt know all that background about Mallet and Arkansas but I still felt like he'd tranfer there. UCLA surprises me if it turns out to be true, though it isnt a bad choice on his part.
Looking forward to Gerell Robinson and hopefully Deion Walker becoming Irish tomorrow
Chambers, you're a Michigan fan, any news on Mike Martin and him possibly decommitting from Michigan? I believe he said he is holding strong, but has also scheduled a visit for ND following ND finally offering him due to Hunter leaving. -
Mallett would go to UCLA because our QB coach is about to become the OC there -
a little tid bit of Pryor from ESPN-They say he's down to Oregon and Michigan.
That being said, it's probably 99.9% untrue. OSU has been after him the longest, and there's no way the Nuts are out of the picture for him yet. Plus ESPN's recruiting info is really really, bad -

Matt Patchan committed to Florida. I'm not really too surprised about this, wasn't he the recruit that was at the Virginia game and was talking about Miami having no heart? I thought then that he would never end up here, he seems to be a great O Lineman, but you never know.
-
Sucks Gerell Robinson committed to ASU. He'd been hanging out with the ND recruits, kept saying how important academics were and ND has recruited him as a WR the entire time I believe (which is his prefered position from the sound of things). The more I was reading about this guy the more I liked him and the better it sounded for ND. Oh well, at least Deion Walker didnt disappoint. Him, Goodman and Floyd should bring some much needed WR depth.
Also, Pryor seems perfect for Michigan. Rodriguez could make him a stud with that option spread he runs. Hopefully he goes some where else lol.Last edited: Jan 5, 2008 -
Pryor is playing games with everybody though. Comes to SanAntonio wearing a Michigan sweater, and an OSU recruit puts a buckeye stamp on his helmet -

TWO OF THE TOP ELEVEN Players by Rivals at the AAA game are Canes ...
Marcus Forston, DT, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern
No one player was more consistent throughout practice all week and still had a big impact on the game. Forston made several big plays, either stuffing the run or sending it into the arms of teammates and he was a monster all week.
7. Arthur Brown, LB, Wichita (Kan.) Wichita East
Brown isn't huge, but he sure is active. During the week he was flashing his speed but being too aggressive and thinking too much. In the game he let his instincts take over and he was the most dominant defender on either side.
EAST DEFENSE
Wichita (Kan.) East linebacker Arthur Brown flew under the radar all week. With a loaded defensive line for the East, the linebackers were often overlooked. But there was no overlooking Brown in the game. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound five-star prospect that's heading to Miami was all over the field with tackle after tackle and big hits. Brown finished with six tackles, including four solo stops.
