"There's a lot of passion in the locker room. I don't think we have a lack of leadership, in the slightest. We have more leadership than any team I've been a part of, there's definitely not a lack of leadership...I believe in coach Philbin and how this staff prepares us."
Ryan Tannehill. After today's game.
Take it for what it's worth. Which isnt a whole lot considering how players tend to say the right things. But RT, and Suh, who made similar comments, have zero to fear from speaking out vs the staff. Contrast that w reporters and their unnamed sources allegedly saying the exact opposite.
Doesn't quite fit the narrative.

Tannehill is just being a good QB and team leader and saying what the team wants him to say. Plus, he's not a defensive player, and the biggest and most obvious give-up has been on defense.

OF COURSE Tannehill said that. He NEVER says or does anything to throw a teammate under the bus. He's never once criticized his horrible oline in 3+ seasons, or called out his receivers.
It's proof of nothing.MikeHoncho, Brasfin and 77FinFan like this. -
 This is just typical press conference player speak. What do you want them to do? Throw the staff under the bus? These guys know there's only so few NFL jobs and teams available. They aren't about to screw themselves that way. I mean, I know, you love Philbin and all, but even you have to think the point you're trying to make here is a bit silly given the current state of things.

But RT had no problem voicing his displeasure last year when Philbin didn't name him the starter prior to the Oakland game. And if what RT says publicly carries no weight with you then how do you feel about reporters and their anonymous sources? -
-
If tannehill said anything like philbin said about him last year, i would buy a tannehill jersey.
Something like "im not sure he will be the head coach for week 6, we'll see.. " -

I saw first hand how quotes and facts were distorted to create a better news report. So any time I read about an anonymous source, I believe about 10% of what I read has some truth in it and figure the other 90% is completely fiction. Unfortunately it is impossible to figure out which 10% of the report is factual. Therefore I simply end up discounting the entire report. -
Tannehill is probably very aware that hes going to have a new HC soon. The last thing he wants for any potential coach to hear him, the newly paid guaranteed to be here for years qb, mouthing off about his coach.
That wouldn't look good. That alone would be a reason not to come coach miami. "Well tannehill won't stick by me, **** that noise" -

this move is all about leadership and motivation..you were wrong..the team wasn't playing as hard or intense as they could of..im interested to hear your response?RGF, Tin Indian and resnor like this. -
A big part of my critic of Tannehill is that he seriously lacks leadership skills. IMO a real leader at the QB position would have said, "I need to step up my game and leadership. I need to motivate the players around me to perform at a higher level, to be ready on our first drive, etc..."
How lacking in leadership is Tannehill? That void in leadership allowed Richie Incognito to be the team leader two years ago leading to all kinds of dysfunction and blowing up the OL that many now say is the cause of Tannehill's piss-poor play. That isn't something that would have happened under the leadership of a Brady, Manning, Rodgers, and most starting QBs.zippychippy likes this. -
Is there someone that can check on Piston Honda to make sure he's ok?

Those guys did it for the right reasons and not the reasons we were complaining and whining about, which were the wrong reasons because we didn't watch the tape 25 times after each game -
Frustration can be easily mislabeled as "passion."

As for being wrong. About what? My point all along was that Philbin wasn't the ONLY problem. Gotta look at the players and personell staff too. I stand by that. The Marlins fired their manager early in the season and brought in a guy who could "connect with the players", turns out they were putting lipstick on a pig bc the team continued to suck. Again, we'll have to wait and see.
Philbin. Ireland. Sparano. Sherman. Henne. Henning. Cameron. Wannstedt. How many times have the Dolphins fired the guy who was supposedly the problem?
You guys take a few days to celebrate, then let's get back to reality. And save the chest beating and told ya so's until after the team starts playing better and wining some games. -
As a fanbase, we have to...HAVE TO....start understanding that the things said in PCs or to reporters by someone from the team may not be true and that person is just playing the game the way they are supposed to.
Players and coaches do not regularly openly call each other out and always find a way to offer support. Its part of the game.Tin Indian and resnor like this. -
Congrats bro, you were right, again. Lol. Who's next on your turnstile of scapegoats, Coyle, Lazor, Hickey? Tannenbaum? -

Either way. Time to move on. Campbell says the team wasn't competing and he's gonna light a fire under them. We shall see. -
And, the reason I started the post with " seriously ? ", is I still believe you post the things you do for dramatic effect only. Attention seeking comedy , if you will. -

Nuance may not be your thing, perhaps you're a black and white kind of guy. But I reserve the right to say that Philbin is not a good coach AND the team isn't good AND they're playing poorly. Thus firing the HC isn't really the answer. The whole operation needs to be adressed, no quick fix is gonna cause a sudden 180.
I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if this team rebounds and finishes with 9-10 wins. But you guys swearing you're right before there's a game or even a practice, that's weak as hell.
