Way too early thoughts on the season

1) Malik Willis may be the real deal. He's extending plays with his feet and making some pretty good throws. He's certainly much better than any other option we had available this off season. Not happy about taking too many sacks, but considering the weapons he has available at receiver I am feeling fairly positive so far.
2) OMG I didn't expect the defence to be this bad.
3) Having said that the rookie LB Rodriguez looks like he could be a star.
4) The OL is looking competent, but they can't go out and run routes and catch the ball.
5) Hafley can't be judged yet because he doesn't have the horses. The team seems to be putting in effort now, but I want to see them still playing hard in 10 games time when the record could be as ugly as 1-11.
As an aside I am happy to see McDaniel and Herbert struggling with the Chargers. Not because I wish them ill, but I'm sick of the "we should have drafted Herbert over Tua" crowd. That ship sailed a long time ago and I just want people to let go of it.
TheHighExhaultedforum_veteranWillis can't read a defense, holds on to the ball way too long and has no awareness. He's gonna make a cool scramble and a couple of nice throws a game but he just isn't a starting quarterback in this league. He is a fine backup.
JJ_79forum_veteranLittle disappointed in the defense cause that’s Haffleys specialty but it’s still early in the season, need to see something there. Willis shows flashes here and there and we’re now able to do a QB sneak, need to see more though. OL is a little disappointing as well for all the resources we put in there. It’s going to be a long season, if it nets us the 1st overall pick please don’t fuck it up again…
KeyFinforum_veteranIn game two, Miami looked like a high school practice squad on defense. It was laughable how open receivers were and how quickly our opponents can score. Huge organizational failure there. I thought our offense looked pretty good though and if it wasn't automatic TDs on every drive for the other team, we could actually compete a little at the NFL level. We'll see if that trend changes weeks from now.
The only thing that's keeping these games watchable is the offensive time of posession. If we didn't move the ball so well down the field while eating up the clock, we'd be losing by 60+ points per game.
Surprisingly though, I don't care this year as this is supposed to be an 0-16 team. Flores had the same situation and build a defense of scrubs that could actually compete and look solid the second half of the season. So that's what I'm judging Hafley by as well, can he turn it around like Flores did? Maybe that's an unfair comparison but it's what I'm going with.
Winning football games at any level comes down to winning in the trenches.

Herbert doesnt have the football smarts to run McD's offense
