I'll settle for their identity to be Super Bowl winner. Everything else is irrelevant in the NFL.

 

We have too many holes to be talking about an identity for the team. Pick BPA at one of the many need positions in the draft, get a good HC and try to put together a team that is average at most positions but has some key playmakers, some of which we have already in Suh, Jones, Landry, etc..

Get that far first so that we're competitive and then we can talk about an identity.

 

Tough. A team that opponents know will take a battle to fact and who will run right over you if you aren't ready.

On defense - very strong and unforgiving, especially of mistakes.

On offense a qb that scares you behind a fierce line and a daring run game.

Basically, going up against the Dolphins should feel like going to war.

Identity? How about "not embarrassing".

 

This is how I want opposing teams to feel when they know they are about to play us

 

on defense it doesn't need to be a dominat force, i would'n mind if they give up a play here and there, i want them to get more turnovers on defense and more than stout in redzone defense like Top 3-5

on offense i want a team that is utilizing the RB as a receiver as well, a clone of the cardinals offense would be nice, i love to watch them play and i want an offense that attacks the middle of the field

 

That 4 women and a dirty mentally unstable vagabond can beat us and overthrow our civilization?

 

35% Lamar Miller (Not balance for balance's sake, but because you can't throw it 100% of the time and Miller's very good).
34% Short stuff to Landry and others.
30% Intermediate and long to Parker and others.
1% Tannehill runs.

Defense, who knows. I just want some replacement level players and then we can talk about scheme/identity.

 

I think I'd just settle for "disciplined". With that, everything else just falls into place.

 

Top five dominating defense that is top five in QB pressures. I prefer a play action offense with a strong run game but am open to the pass first offenses of today. I want our oline to be top ten but will settle for top sixteen next year

 

Strong, QB chasing Defense that will knock your head off. Top 10 D anyway looked at.
Pass-Balance O with a running QB... middle of the pack would be ok with me.

Although our teams of the 80s broke my heart a few times... I liked the strong D and a competant O.

Then again... I liked the Dan the Man days too in which the opposite was true. Well, that is clear as mud.

Mentally tough.

 

A team that will knock you in the mouth over and over for 60 minutes - you anticipate you'll have a long injury list the following week after playing the Dolphins.

 

Now we are talking. Thumbs up there A.

 

An aggressive, hard-hitting, unforgiving defense that takes chances, performs stunt plays, and blitzes heavily out of a 3-4 zone blitz defense. This, combined with a slow-moving, methodical offense that chews clock every time they have the ball, manages on 3rd and short, balances the run-to-pass ratio, and scraps the flashy misdirection plays for conservative, simplistic, man against man plays. Think Larry Csonka and that '72 Dolphins offensive line.

 

A hard hitting defense that forces turnovers.

 

Strong running, especially short yardage. No more 4 and out on the goaline with a disciplined D that hits like a truck on every play.

 

A team that shows elite mental toughness and physicality.

 

A Punch your teeth out team on every play both defense and offense

Dominating running game that you can not stop.(like the early packer teams that simply ran it down your throat),(you knew what was coming and still couldnt stop it) that set up intermediate route passing game with the threat of the long ball to keep opponents honest

 

Easy question.... As a team we had 100 yards rushing in only 6 football games this season folks.
Running game was invisible. Balance? We didn't see it.
Build the defense around Suh. LB's with speed would be a great start.
The crux is we have to be stout on D and run the football consistently.

 

Offense: Hail Mary touchdown pass on the first play of every drive. Followed by elaborate always-changing trick-play 2-point conversion that always succeeds.

Defense: Strip-sack run back for a touchdown on the first play of every possession. Corners and safeties actually bring something with them to read when they take the field.

Here's a perspective I hadn't initially considered for this thread - what I'd really love as identity is an organisation that become renowned for finding and developing talent. That has to be one of the biggest factors, if not the biggest factor, in long-term, sustained success.

I'd love to see the Dolphins become the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL.

 

Only the Spurs actually 'started' with being so bad they had the #1 pick in Timmy. That is a solid base with an excellent coach.
