What was your "since" moment?

Since my old man sat me down next to him on Sunday's to watch the Fins play. I was probably 4 or 5 at the time. I knew then it would be a tradition.
At least he got to see them win championships in 72/73. RIP pops. Hopefully, I don't have to wait much longer to see them win. 24 years as a fan is long enough.
Good lord....I have a really good memory and remember stuff from when I was 3 but the exact moment? Probably the first Fins game I watched with Marino in 83 (I was 5). That's as far back as I can remember football wise.
Also don't sweat the silly stuff. I think Alex means well based on past interaction with him....if you want to talk about it PM Me.

In 1983 he was an unpaid intern, bro. Duh.
Headcoach material wouldn’t want to work somewhere they’re not trusted with actual football decisions.
Since I was born. I have baby pictures where I'm deck out in Dolphins gear. That was back in 1981. I never had a choice, lol.
I also had the Dolphins forced on me. First realized football was better than cartoons in 91'... I Saw Marino hit Clayton deep down the right sideline. It was magic. By 92' I was dragged up to Foxboro in late Dec. to see em live.
getting a box of dolphin goodies from my granfather who lived in miami who sent it to upstate new york where I was. mid seventies.

The day I was born, Jan 13th 1966. That and the undefeated season, my flag football team was the Dolphins and we went undefeated too that yr. Dad was a Redskins fan that yr which made it even sweeter. He had to clean my room for me for a month after losing that bet.

This was the first moment i was ever hooked on a sporting event. I was 6.
That means I'm only ten years older than you! Do I still have a chance?

Get in line! LOL
Taken with a kid, sorry -
Dad had been a Saints fan, but he'd apparently gotten tired of watching a losing team. Around the age of 9, our HS team had gone on to win a conference championship since God knows when and I'd started to develop an interest in football. Christmas day, 1971, the famous "longest game", somewhere in the 3rd Q, Dad said, "come on and watch this game, it's pretty good!". That was it. I was UNBELIEVEABLY fortunate that the local station in JAckson, Mississippi carried Dolphins games as the local game on NBC pretty much through my HS years. When I moved to college, the station from Tupelo, Mississippi, ALSO carried the Dolphins games, even after the Jackson station had switched to Houston, I think. My first job out of school was in Tupelo, as well, so I STILL got to watch the Phins. By the time I moved down to the Gulf Coast, I had sports bars available for the first couple of years before I purchased NFL Sunday ticket.
Long way to get to the point that, with the exception of maybe a year or two in Jackson when I was working between college stints, I've been able to watch Miami football pretty regularly for the last 44 years.
I was always a fan since I moved to Florida when I was about 5. My dad is a die hard Giant fan and tried to push them on me but I was drawn to the Fins. The moment I really began following the team hardcore is when we signed Ricky Williams.

I went to the first regular season game the Dolphins ever played and watched Joe Auer return the first kickoff in Dolphin history for a TD. I have been a Dolphin fan ever since.
I was sitting in my room at home, a 17 year old Senior at Belle Glade High School (We'll meet again, but not in Heaven, We're the class of '67), listening to the Game on radio when I heard the radio broadcast of that kickoff. I had been reading about the team since the first reports came out ( in 1965, I think) in the Miami Herald about Robbie and a group of people, including Danny Thomas trying to get the franchise for an AFL team in Miami. I both fell in love with the Dolphins and learned to hate the Oakland Raiders during that game!
We are real sailormen, the destroyermen of the fleet.
We can follow the tracks and ride the backs of the dolphins.
We will be where the action is in every situation.
When things are getting too rough for anyone else,
they're getting just right for us!
It was a day after my 11th birthday.

Yeah, me too. But none of my girls like football at all.
It was when I was 4 or 5 and I heard that Dolphins were smart and could kill sharks. Seriously. :pointlol:
I then watched and loved the 70s team. I was very young, but really dug Czonka and Griese. I later was a huge fan of A.J. Duhe. I was a big fan of Nat Moore as well as the Killer Bs. Then that dude Marino, but my absolute fav was................that's right....Cleo Lemon.
Seriously, my family were all die hard Giant fans. I started playing football when I was 8 years old, I wanted to play like Czonk. I played RB and LB. I used to love putting my head and shoulder down and smashing guys, forearming guys.
1986. 10 years old. Watching Marino had me hooked. Took one game.

My church used to have annual picnics and they'd always try to line up a few celebrities to get a bigger turnout. Well, one year, the Mark Brothers (Duper and Clayton) were there and as usual, a pickup game formed and the football started flying. Now, these guys were paid to be there and surely playing wasn't part of their job description, but they took the field anyway and played with the youth for about an hour. Then afterwards, they talked about all the great players they had faced, great football moments and what it was like to be a pro. They were just hanging out and being regular guys.
I remember thinking, "Darn, these guys really care about us...and I've always rooted against the Dolphins just to make everyone else mad." And I did too...whoever was playing Miami, they were my team for the week (I did the same with the Hurricanes too). Seriously, I got jumped in elementary school after the Redskins won it all and I came to school celebrating and laughing at all the kids in my school in Davie (I went to Nova). About five of em beat me up on the kickball field during recess that Monday. Although, I do remember getting beat up a lot better than I remember Duper and Clayton years later. I can see my dad throwing a deep TD pass to one of them though and thinking that it was a life-changing moment for him somehow. It's funny how the mind works and the memories we hold onto from childhood.
After that day with the Mark brothers though, I couldn't root against the Dolphins anymore; I knew those two receivers on the field...they were friends of mine! I mean, obviously they weren't, but as a kid you think like that. And I've been a fanatic ever since.
Winning football games at any level comes down to winning in the trenches.
Before I was interested in any kind of tackle football, me dad would bet on games like it was a drug. So I saw football all the time during the season but had 0 interest. But whenever I did pay attention to the games, it always seemed as if the Miami Dolphins were kicking mud into the butts of whoever they were playing. ALWAYS! Then one day a neighbor of mine challenged me to a $5 wager for Super bowl 17 I believe it was. I asked who was playing and when he told me Dolphins vs Redskins I immediately chose the Dolphins. We lost that one but ever since then itS been Miami, no if ands or buts...And when the 84 season started with the blowout of the Redskins.... Well that season just solidified it.

First game I can ever recall seeing was the 62-7 mollywhopping against Jax.
That was my "Buy Low" moment.
This! I was interested in Football because of Madden 98 (which had that sweet intro btw., with hits that would get you suspended for years by good ol' Rog in today's NFL) and I asked my uncle if he could tape the Phins vs. Jax game for me since he had pay-tv and he was the only person in the whole neighborhood in Germany who was able to watch the NFL. So the next day I, beeing a 12 year old boy with no clue what actually happened, watched the last game of Dan Marino and thought that this team would be the one I should root for for the rest of my life. With my favorite soccer team Borussia Mönchengladbach also being a total dumpster fire at this time, it seemed like a logical choice. And here I am, a proud and battle-tested supporter of the Miami Dolphins who will wear his Cameron Wake jersey on Sunday with pride.
