With Sparano out the door it is highly likely that his baby Henne will be sent packing as well so who drafts a QB that is ahead of the phins?
Bills, Cardinals, Redskins, 49erss, Vikings, Seahawks
So that about wipes the Qbs off the board - Luck, Locker, Mallet, Newton
Any thoughts?
-
I don't know if those teams will take Newton, or Mallet for that matter... or Locker. We have a decent draft spot to nab one of them if they so choose.

If Blaine Gabbert comes out he'll go in the first round as well.
Mallet will be exposed when teams watch film and we should not want anything to do with him. Locker might not even go in the first round. Newton will climb (thankfully out of our range). I could see a scenerio where we trade down to the late first round and get stuck with a Mallet. It all depends on who are coach is, our GM is and what offensive philosophy we will be adopting.
In the end, it's way too soon to guess. The combine will change a lot of thoughts. Remember, Phil Rivers was a 2nd round pick before the combine and went top 5. -

move up in the draft & get the best QB prospect possible -
As for who will take a Qb ahead of us:
-Carolina
-SFran is a good bet
-Hearing Cards may make a run at Kolb.
-Vikings
The other problem is at #15 we can easily be passed by a team that wishes to move past us, when we moved back from #12 it only cost SD a #2 pick, if a team has a real strong conviction on a player they could pass us easily. -

Maybe this link will be helpful.

It looks to me like" Raiders, Titans, Vikings and Cardinals. The variables will be the draft order which we won't know for another two months, and how current this link is. -
I wonder if anyone will make a run at Matt Flynn
-
Peter King says Luck is staying at Stanford, so unless we trade up forget about drafting a QB in the first round.

At 15 Miami can make it happen , they may have to maove up , but so be it. Time to get the QB this franchise has needed for far too long.
Be assertive , be bold , the right QB is worth it , at 15 , with the depth of this top QB class , this may be the least expensive option we have for a long time imo. -

Speculation at this point , highly doubt Luck even knows as an absolute right now. -
I have no idea how this coach or the next is going to get that qb without going at least going 3-13 or worse. -
This is what we have for picks. . .

What still puzzles me every year is that the Patriots still have more high picks than most team year after year even though they are winners. What's their secret?! -
I love all the idea's to move up in the draft. Its a great idea...
The only problem... how do we do it? Without a second rounder... Going to be awfully tough... Love to hear some idea's how that gets done
:pity: -
Carolina (2-14) Qb
Denver (4-12) DE
Buffalo (4-12) DE
Cincinnati (4-12) QB/Wr
Arizona (5-11) Cb
Cleveland (5-11) Wr
San Francisco (6-10) Qb
Tennessee (6-10) ????
Dallas (6-10) ???
Washington (6-10) Defense/Wr/Qb
Houston (6-10) Defense
Minnesota (6-10) Qb
Detroit (6-10) ???
St. Louis (7-9) Wr
Miami (7-9)
Well, that is 5 teams that legitimately could go Qb, 5 teams that could go DE/CB/Lb and 4 teams that could go Wr and a maybe 2 teams that could go in any direction, so to me it looks like we will have no real shot at a Qb at #15, and we also probably miss out on the Elite Wr talent like Green and Blackmon,
We would have the pick of Tackles, Te's, and probably Running Backs and Offensive lineman but you could see the Lions going with a left tackle.
What I would dearly love is a FS/ILB/Tackle or Center or G, maybe running back. -
Cant see Luck staying...he will be 1st overall or top 3 at least.
We pick before Seattle and Oakland, so that will not effect our pick.
AZ will make a run for Kolb or a current NFL QB, not through the draft.
I would be OK with Mallet...not having a 2nd rounder will handicap our chances of moving up too high...
Sad that 5 days before wild card weekend we are talking about the draft....again...ugh -
I did not know Gabbert declared. In my opinion we should do whatever it takes to get up into the top 5 and get a quarterback. when you look at how this team is currently constructed I don't see any major needs that will be screaming to be addressed in the next few years with the exception of quarterback.
The defense is young and ascending. Yes, we need a thumper next to Dansby, a playmaking safety (maybe Jones can evolve into that) and another pass rusher but other than that, it is a VERY serviceable unit as it stands right now. If we resign Big Paul we are set on the Dline. The linebackers are good and we appear set at corner for years. the spots that need to be aided on defense can be fixed via free agency and later rounds AND we have guys that are alright. The defense will not hold us back.
The offense is another issue BUT we have pieces. We are good at receiver and left tackle. No worries there. The interior offensive line is a disaster but drafting a guard at #15 is not sending us to the playoffs, we can find guards. A tight end would be nice and some speed. We need running backs but I don't want one in the first round.
I'd trade our first this year, our third this year and our first next year to move up into the top 5. Target teams that appear from afar to not be looking quarterback. I can't see Denver (#2) picking a quarterback in the first round. Cincy (#4) MIGHT (and if they do that opens up Carson Palmer as trade bait). Cleveland (#6) seems pretty happy with McCoy. Carolina, Buffalo and Arizona are targeting quarterbacks without doubt. If we REALLY want a guy we have to jump to #2. Denver has needs all over the place and might want to grab extra picks. There are openings to move up, the only question is do we have the ammo (we don't unless we start throwing future #1's into the discussion) and the will to sink a LOT of our future into one player.
For Luck or Gabbert I'd sell the farm but after that, there is nothing there that we can't get at our normal spot. If Luck comes out we might have a shot but if he stays in school that changes everything.Tin Indian likes this. -
Why does everyone think Luck will go to Carolina. They have Clausen and Pike don't they? Too much to keep investing in the QB position Cap/Sense wise.

We're missing game changing speed at RB and WR. If the QB's are gone,is there a player at the 15 spot that would fit the "speed" mold?
