It's late November and the Dolphins are squarely in charge of picking their own fate this year. We should win the next three games convincingly in preparation for a tough December- everything is ideal for this young Dolphins team.
So why is this board so dead?
At first I figured, "Well people have lives off the Internet." But then I remembered it's 2020 and we really don't, at least I don't anyway. I work from home, watch a little TV and play video games...not much more to do really. Even the grass has stopped growing in South Carolina so there's not much need for working in the yard.
So what is everyone up to while waiting for the next kickoff? Has your game-day changed any this season? I'm genuinely curious.

At the end of the day, I'm happy any time that the Dolphins win. I also like what we're seeing from Brian Flores. But beyond that, I'm really in wait & see mode seeing how everything develops.

I mean without being silly what is there to discuss this year? A board requires discussion points to survive on and this year I think we all agree that we're pretty good. You can argue how sustainable certain areas of our play are but unless you want threads with 40 posts where every member takes turns talking about how good we are then there's not a lot to discuss. By this time last season most were already looking at drafts orders and prospects and discussing what we'd do come that time of the year, whereas this year you'd be more likely to see playoff discussions and I don't think anybody is so confident in us yet that you'll get discussions on who you want in the playoffs.

It seems to me that the board is a lot busier when there's more things to complain about. But since things are going well for the time being people are happy just to watch the games. One bad game and we'll probably see a lot more posting.
I hope it's nothing more than that and nothing serious. -
Yeah, losing means assigning blame and all the conflict that comes with that. We are winning, and we are having to learn to deal with that. I mean, I worry about being able to run the ball, but can't get worked up about it until it clearly costs us a win. Then we can argue about making a trade or how high a pick to spend on one in 2021.KeyFin likes this. -
For Tua, the jury is still out...but then this conversation goes back to that defense. Tua doesn't have to be perfect this season for us to win; he just has to be consistent while making smart reads. We already know he's great at those things though, so for me it's just seeing how far he comes in the next 7 games and the playoffs.
I don't think any shoes will drop either but I'm still timid from decades of late season collapses. Hopefully that's gone completely after these next three games...but the real test comes in our last four match-ups. It will be interesting to see how the team responds against serious contenders like KC. -

There is not much to talk about, cause Grier and Flores are doing a really good job so far. I don’t remember having anything like we‘re having right now, look at the upside. If Tua stays healthy, I can’t wait for next season and the possibilities we‘re going to have in the draft and free agency.

We could be evaluating the positive AND negative plays. Just because you win a game doesnt mean you played well enough or that the level of play is sustainable.
For instance on our last 3 games we have been outscored offensively twice. That isnt a recipe for long term success. -

Not all that long ago much of the activity on this board was concerning a certain ex-QB of the Dolphins whom I'm reluctant to name. A couple of months ago my projection for the season was an 8 - 8 record but, I added that the team would be so entertaining to watch that the ex-QB thread would disappear for lack of interest. Don't look now but, it's getting ready to slip off the board. Well, you can look but,, let it go, give it a rest.

Beyond that, noone has discussed it really.
Also I would say it's not something you need to understand football to have an opinion about. It's a pretty basic concept unless you are literally new to the sport. -

Weird times and been here before only to have a moment of hope be extinguished by false promise. This does feel like the team is on to something and for many it's hard to believe.

I’m currently at post #642 of the Ryan Tannehill thread...I’ll fire things up when I read every word of the remaining posts, analyze all of the information presented, and finally decide where I stand on a qb no longer on the team

Club gets more of the discussion because of how the board came to be. There was a split off from finheaven in like 07, mods left over a dispute that I cannot remember. The mods were popular with the VIP section there, and most that came here were doing that there, and also signed up for club here.
I like how they do threads in club, keeping all the dolphin news and discussions of the week in one thread. That way you are just checking one instead of tracking many. I also like that there seems to be less hot takes.
Overall there is less discussion across all message boards than there was even 5 years ago. Seems like younger people have different media habits.Unlucky 13 and KeyFin like this. -
I want to point out while it's great to support the site by becoming a Club member, if someone is doing the majority if their posting there they are actually helping to destroy the site long term by making the main board seem inactive to casual users.
Premium message board areas tend to only be good for sites with large active user bases. Long term. -
Sorry Key, but even in the midst of Covid, some of us still have lives to live! Can't LIVE on my laptop 24/7.
Still "digging" but something to point out about today. If we win today's game, that will make 6 games in a row. How have the Dolphins fared in past seasons in which the team has won 6 in a row?
2016; 10-6...2nd AFC East...Lost Wildcard Game to Steelers 12-30
1992; 11-5...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoff...Lost AFC Championship to Buffalo 10-29
1990; 12-4...2nd AFC East...Won Wildcard Game...Lost Divisional Game to Buffalo 34-44
1985; 12-4...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoff...Lost AFC Championship to New England 14-31 *7
1984; 14-2...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoff...Won AFC Champ...Lost Super Bowl to SF 16-38 **11
1975; 10-4...2nd AFC East...DNQ for playoffs *7
1973; 12-2...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoffs...Won AFC Champ...Won Super Bowl ***10
1972; 14-0...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoff...Won AFC Champ...Won Super Bowl ****14
1971; 10-3-1...1st AFC East...Won Divisional Playoff...Won AFC Champ...Lost Super Bowl to Dallas 3-24 *****8
So there you have it! The Dolphins' history when they've won 6 games (or more) during their season The asterisks and the number that follows denotes the number of wins in a row for that particular season.
Interestingly, in the entire illustrious history of the Miami Dolphins they've only had a 6+ game winning streak in only 9 years in their 54 year history, this despite 23 seasons in which the Dolphins had 10+ wins.
Today's game is VERY significant in Dolphins history.KeyFin likes this. -
I think there is some disbelief going on, like hear me out here.
I’ve been a fan a long time, and I just can’t believe we’re this good this fast, I can’t believe we found a coach this good, I can’t believe we got the qb we wanted, I can’t believe we’re the youngest team in football..it’s like I’ve grown so programmed to expect to be let down but yet this team isn’t doing that to me and I don’t know what to do with myself lol..
Our fans simply don’t know how to act with all this great publicity, to be the hunter and not the hunted takes us to come out of our shell.
Alright so here’s where I get rid of all those dolphin demons of the past....whoosh..They be gone brothers!!!
Alright let do this today!!..let’s smother this Qb with the Mosh Pit defense..Let’s watch Tua operate with such precision that we just sit and watch with our mouth open, let’s watch this Ahmed kid run for his dream to come true, let’s watch this young football team play hard and for each other under this bad azz coach and celebrate.
We maybe on the cusp of something big here and I think some fans can’t believe it.Dolphin fan syndrome is here and this team is trying to break through and teach us how to act..
Let’s get this win, do whatever it takes to get it, even if it’s ugly...
