Agree completely. Maybe the coaching staff will do what we've been saying for 3 years now and put him on KO and PR full-time.

 

I think we all are interested to see how Ginn will do with all the attention on Marshall. That and his return abilities are reasons to accept no less than a 4th for him.

 

2k all purpose is a stretch. It's a much shorter distance to the sidelines as far as he's concerned...

 

BM answers so many of our offensive woes, its time to just let him get here and gel with the receivers we have, and that includes TGJ. I agree this makes TGJ as well as Hartline, Cammy and Bess all better.

Now its time to go DDDDDD with the rest of our draft !

 

Still have to catch the ball and run toward the endzone (and not the sidelines) to get yards - both seem to be issues for Ginn. Of course, I agree that we are never going to get any compensation equal to Ginn's potential at this point. Of course, we would save a good amount of $$.

 

Ted Ginn has his uses to us, but I don't think he is worth it enough to keep, if he can be packaged into a deal to get our 2nd rounder back from someone for a trade down.

I don't see us getting anything better than a 5th outright for him right now, so the only way I see us cutting ties is if it's as part of some sort of package deal for something else.

That being said, I think we saw the low point of Ted Ginn's WR Career last season, and the high point of his return career. He'll drop off on the returns (because lets face it, 3 TD KR returns in a year is pretty hard to repeat), and pick up his WR game, and be a solid component to this team.

The only evidence I have to back that up is that he was showing decent, not great, but decent progress playing as a #1 in year 1 and 2. He got a new QB and stunk it up in Year 3. Now he's moving to a slightly less demanding position, and will have that additional year of prep/timing with his QB.

I think that compared to what we could LIKELY get for Ginn, there's no reason not to just keep him and give it another year.

 

Too expensive to be used ONLY as that. With Bess, Hartline, Ginn and Camarillo i think someone unfortunately has to go.

 

Yes, he surely would be able to burn the opposing teams 2nd or 3rd corners, however one HUGE question lies, will he catch the damn ball?.. oh, and not be a p****?

1) I'm not sure how having Marshall will help Ginn run better routes or catch the balls he dropped when he was wide open.

2) Keeping Ginn will prevent others from opportunities to catch the ball and will get in the way of developing receivers like Hartline, Bess, and Turner.

3) We can draft someone late (Jacoby Ford) or pick up someone in free agency that would be at least as consistent a return specialist for a lot less money.

4) We likely won't get more than a 6th rounder, but that pick can be used on a fresh new player in a draft chock full of talent.

 

It all comes down to a money issue. We've given the biggest contract in NFL history to an ILB and a WR in same off-season. Ginn is someone who's underperforming based on his contract. He has his uses, but we have to cut some money somewhere.

 

Because ted Ginn blows. When will the homers ever get it that Ginn is going to suck no matter who's on the other side of him. You act as if Ginn has been double teamed, or has been seeing the #1 CB, he hasn't. I would much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much rather see Hartline and Bess taking snaps at the #2 spot than Ted Ginn. Ted Ginn should not be taking snaps away from better players, period. As for as a KR, you can get them later in the draft. Ginn is an average KR and will not be missed. The guy sucks, and is a bust, time to get over it.

 

the why to me is simple ... we want picks - any picks to try to move up and get more of the targeted players.

with Marshall and Hartline .... we just don't need Ginn -- for ANYTHING, to include KR. the only thing we need to add to the WR corps is a 'big' possession type -- and Ginn is certainly no help there. Having Marshall just made our average TEs better as well.

 

I do think TGJ can be an asset to us now. Turner will likely be cut or PSquadded (if possible). We may look into dealing either Cam or Bess, but a top 4 of Marshall, Hartline, Ginn, Bess/Cam would be rather nasty imo.

The point is we can use Ted Ginn more advantageously now. We know hes not strong at coming down with a jump ball. Hes not gonna take a hit over the middle. What you do is run streaks/slants with an open seam and let him run. We let him burn DBs like he did "revis island." Throwing him 10 yard hooks and curls wont work, but a fly down the sideline where he can blow past a nickel/dime CB? Ill chance it.

 

I think we have good enough possession types. What we really need is a really good all-around TE to add to the WR corps.

 

I agree with you Padre. We are not going to get much for him anyway so why trade him. The safety can't cheat to his side now. I think if we can get him to catch the ball, he can do some damage on some deep routes with everyone paying attention to Marshall.

 

I 100% agree, finally Ginn will have some room to run around and get off of blocks. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'd be disappointed if the Phins traded Ginn.

 

Well it's not likely we'll see too much double TE this year.

Means you have one spot to play around with. It's likely to be Polite most of the time and perhaps a WR on other occasions like Ted Ginn Jr.

It's useful to keep him if teams believe it's best to play Marshall close with safety help over the top.

 

I would give Ginn at least until training camp just to see how it goes, if things don't work out then, I'm sure there would be a team with an injury you can pawn him off on like with what happened with JT a couple years ago.

 

i'd rather keep CAM then Ginn .... dude can take his weak heart elsewhere ....

 

I think the problem with Ginn is more in his head. With BM now the focal point of the WR's, it may free up Ginn to relax some and maybe actually do his job. But then I may be mistaken and he just has hands of concrete...:confused2:

Compared to a fifth round pick though, he's reasonable. He provides a deep threat when you want him on the field. He returns etc etc...

5th rounders don't even see playing time. If he puts anything together well then that's something.

 

Yes, he is. I make him out to be a terrible WR, and average KR. That's exactly what he is.

Bess, Hartline, Marshall are definites, Camarillo when on the field is so reliable, id hate to see him go, and i dont think the FO wants to give up on Turner yet...

we have 6 WRs with a spot for probably only 5... something has to give, and if so you have to try to get some kind of value back for who you lose... so if Ginn is our only tradeable option, maybe the FO has to entertain it...

 

Cliff Avril I would be thrilled over. At that point it's basically I don't give a **** when it comes to the draft. You've filled the needs. Pull of that Dallas trade adding Barber for Ronnie Brown insurance. Then you move on and draft really whatever the heck you please.

 

Hope so... There were plenty of passes that hit him dead in the hands and the numbers when he was completely uncovered that he dropped.

I agree. I think he showed last year in the first Jets game he can get open deep. With Marshall drawing primary coverage (#1 CB, S help), I think Ginn could be that Z WR who goes deep, with Hartline and Bess nearly impossible to cover in the slot. Ginn now has the right chemistry for him to flourish. Unless hes available for a player we covet, then no, keep him.

 

Camarillo out of that bunch. Ginn should have never been a #1 or #2 option. IMO, its not his fault he was misused. He's an over the middle deep threat guy on your 2nd or 3rd best CB. That puts odds greatly at our favor.

 

Here's one out of left field... To Tennessee for Mcgrath and a 7th.

 

Get rid of the guy because he's not a football player, he has never put up great stats at any level of football. He's overrated and it's time to cut ties with all of Cameron's failed draft. Hartline is a better #2 receiver than Ginn and Bess/Camarillo can play the slot just fine. Everyone who thinks Ginn will be better now because this new guy is in have got to be kidding themselves. Ginn doesn't bring you 1st downs, he usually brings you to the next down and usually it's 4th down.
