Trinity and Good, Bad & the Ugly were also great.
The spaghetti westerns in general were incredible. The storylines were such a contradiction in terms of the production itself.
The storylines were surreal and over the top. Kind of like the Kung Fu movies of the 70s. But the characters themselves, as well as alot of the individual scenes had an air of realism. One of the things that always stood out for me with Once Upon a Time in the West was in the opening scene at the train station you could here flies buzzing. The cowboys looked sweaty, dirty and unshaven, etc. But then other parts within the storyline were bizarre. -

Wild Bunch is right there too. -
I liked it a lot. Was a little slow at parts so if you like more fast paced Westerns it might not be your thing but Pitt and Casey Affleck were really good in it. At parts it almost seems like a documentary so it was kind of interesting. -
1. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
2. Quigley Down Under
3. Tombstone
4. Big Jake

Quigley is one of my favorites ... couldn't get into the Sacketts as much because it was so danged long. Or, at least it felt that way when I was watching it.

Open Range - The gun fight scene is unreal.
Unforgiven - another unbelievable gun fight scene

Tombstone - Val Kilmer made this movie
One eyed Jacks - how could I forget that one
Special runnerups - The Shootist and The Man who shot Liberty Valence and The Ox-Bow Incident
Sorry but I just had to come back and replace The Cowboys with Shane. I don't know how I could have been so forgetful. Must have been a senior moment.Last edited: Apr 7, 2008 -
