There's some gossip rolling around the web that both sides in the Watson case are trying to settle TODAY so Watson can still be traded pre-draft. Why? It's the best chance Watson has to play football this season, and it's also where the victims will see maximum value for their lawsuits. So there's a chance this settles up in the next few hours and Watson finds a new home.
However, teams have been made aware that there may be a suspension involved at some point and it could be substantial (up to half a season).
Finally, I caught on a news-talk show yesterday that Miami was going to trade Tua, #3 and a future #1 before this all started....they were finalizing terms when this all broke. So there's the slimmest of chances that we still somehow trade for Watson in the next week (obviously, Houston would want to ink that out today). Don't be shocked if we trade #6 for Watson straight up this evening!
This won't happen but still- it's a heck of a draft day topic to argue about. =) Enjoy the draft, my friends!

Honestly, to me this isn't as much of a Watson thing as it is a Tua thing. Our boy has worked his butt off this off-season, did everything right and is poised for a strong 2nd season. Watson is a better QB BUT I'm not sure the baggage is worth it and what it says about our franchise.
The only way I'd be interested would be (1) Watson is suspended for 8+ games, (2) Tua remains the starter for 2021 and most importantly (3) we acquire Watson for a 2nd round pick or future 1st. That way we're in good shape either way and Tua gets his chance to show us what he's made of. If it's really a one-team race, then we should be able to get him for peanuts.

Still a no thanks from me. No creepers

Imagine the optics of getting rid of Tua who is basically a choir boy to then get watson who if he settles all of those cases would go down as the biggest sex offender in nfl history. I cant see a franchise wanting to deal with that pr disaster lol.

I don't think all questions could possibly get resolved in the next few hours.

I was against Watson due to the nature of the allegations but the thought of him behind center is very exciting.
My concern is that even if he settles this seems to be an addiction and sickness. I'm not sure if he'll stop - Much like a drug addict or someone with a gambling problem. That would be my primary concern at this point. -

Eff Watson man, apparently Rogers has told Green Bay he doesn't want to play for them.
I wouldn't really pull the trigger on something outrageous because of the age, but for a team like the Pats or Steelers, they should be jumping.KeyFin likes this. -

That leaves Miami, a team that has all the draft picks necessary to make a Watson deal happen today, next week, next month or even next offseason. It's a pursuit that sources have said would have previously received the support of head coach Brian Flores and general manager Chris Grier. In truth, very little has changed on the Dolphins' end in terms of the franchise's ability to make a deal. Tua Tagovailoa is still the starting quarterback.
The other important note: Multiple sources have told Yahoo Sports that Miami has always been Watson’s preferred destination. Even when he and his camp were leaving the door open for other scenarios, the idea was always to get whatever bidding war that took place to ultimately land in Miami’s favor. Indeed, if a full-slate settlement were ever to happen in Watson’s legal cases, it would be with the aim of getting him traded to Miami — same as it was in January and February and right into the mid-March litigation drop. -

In January, three franchises would have materialized as the strongest bidders for Watson, according to a wide array of team sources who spoke to Yahoo Sports. They were the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers and New York Jets. Several others had interest, but their thirst for a pursuit dwindled considerably when it became apparent that Houston would ultimately have been looking for a starting offer of three first-round draft picks, two second-round picks and players. The San Francisco 49ers were already looking for other options at quarterback and the New England Patriots believed that could line them up to re-acquire Jimmy Garoppolo, significantly tamping down the interest of both franchises in Watson. The Denver Broncos, with new incoming general manager George Paton, weren’t looking to make a massive resource-draining move in the first year of a new direction. And the Chicago Bears and Washington Football Team had only passing initial interest.
Between the Dolphins, Panthers and Jets, it’s clear that Miami and Carolina would have most likely put the strongest offers on the table had the litigation not occurred. Sources have told Yahoo Sports that both would have parted with three first-round picks, as well as more assets to sweeten the deal. As for the Jets, that kind of package was already far more than their initial offer would have been, making it unlikely that general manager Joe Douglas would have entered into the bidding war that Houston wanted.
so again we can choose what we want to believe.... -

There's no way we're trading for Watson. There's also no way we're trading Tua right now. Source? Because I just saw a friggen Muscle Milk commercial with Tua throwing a football. Sorry, but that is all I need to see to know the truth.

I hope at this point that we don't trade for Watson. As talented as he is, it would be a PR nightmare and give the team a huge black eye. Not to mention, just on a practical level, he's going to face a 4-8 game suspension minimum and if we've traded for him, Tua will either not be here or will be playing with the knowledge we're replacing him. It would be a disaster.

It's a moot point. The draft is over, all the 1st round picks are gone. The cushion of cap space is gone. The restructuring of contracts and releases that it would require at this point would likely put us in "Cap Hell". Time to move on.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Texans are willing to trade Deshaun Watson and could be seeking three first-round draft picks in exchange for the QB.
NFL reporter Chris Mortensen said Houston wants "some combination of five high draft picks and starting caliber players" in a swap for Watson, whose contract includes a no-trade clause, meaning he has to green light any trade. That the team is reportedly open to trading away its franchise player after months of denying such reports could mean that Texans are engaging several teams in trade talks. The Dolphins, Broncos, and Eagles have reported interest in going all in for Watson. In June, Broncos DB Kareem Jackson and former Watson teammate said Watson "wants to be" dealt to Denver -- a move that would send Broncos pass catchers skyrocketing up fantasy draft boards. Watson avoided the Commissioner's Exempt List after facing more than 20 allegations of sexual misconduct, making a trade more likely in the coming weeks. He could face a lengthy suspension no matter where he lands. A police investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations against Watson remains open and 22 lawsuits against the quarterback are pending.

Lol no no no at three first rounders for what I call a decent QB with a ton of PR baggage. I would rather take my chances with TUA who is a great guy in the locker and is young.
We have to stop being impatient with qb’s. They take years to get good unless you have a stud team around them.
Give him 3-4 years and let’s see how it turns out. Though I get that Flores is probably starting to feel the seat get warmer every passing week!
I don’t want a QB with 22 lawsuits lol he’s trouble
