I have drop planes and helicopters flying over our house to put out fires on Camp Pendleton. We can see the fire from our back yard. Not looking to good right now. We are supposed to have high winds this weekend due to Santa Ana winds. Hopefully they can stay on top of the fires as they happen, and we don't have too many this fire season.

I thought they just got the last big fire out a month or so ago?

It's been really hot and dry for most of the week. The winds havent picked up too badly, but they're starting to blow. Hate the Santa Ana winds.

Multiple big tankers flying right now. They are trying to get some of the fire controlled before night fall. The fire is getting worse. Updated pics.

Maybe you guys & gals down south will get lucky and it will start to rain soon. I hope and pray we don't have another fire season like last year. here in no cal, we had some rain & snow (10,000 ft) last weekend, and it's supposed to rain and snow again this sat.

Calif has been really dry for two years now...Southern Cal always has fires this time of year.

Thats scary stuff I know bro. I lived through a few growing up as well. Having the entire landscape GLOW just miles away really really sucks.
Pendleton huh. So that means in the direction of Legoland?
Really hope all is well my brother.....Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -

Los Angeles has burned 11 square miles worth, and we are on fire on Camp Pendleton again. This fire is closer to us. Waiting to see if we get the reverse 911 call to evacuate if it gets worse and heads towards us. It is 82 degrees with 6% humidity, with Santa Ana winds blowing at 15-20 mph right now. They are expecting stronger winds tonight which is not good. Our fire started at 4:00pm, and they have the super scoopers bringing water from the ocean to fire right now. They can only fly until dusk. They have about another hour or so that they can fly. When the humidity gets under 10% it is really bad conditions for fires to start. Fire fighters like to at least have 20% humidity. Sorry for the ramblings. Here are some photos I just took.

We are fine now. The winds are gusting up to 25 mph right now. They will get stronger tonight, and with that is ambers flying in the wind and possibly catching houses on fire.
-
FFIC that is too close for comfort. Make plans for evacuation just in case you need to go. My prayers are with you, and your family. That is indeed stressful, just like it is with us and these hurricanes we have lurking all the time.

There is better pics and it will show a good map. I am slightly south of the 76 freeway, and right next to Vista to the west. -
