Hands Down.
In fact, since Ireland has been the GM I'd take both Nelson and Cobb over the players we drafted just ahead of them (Philip Merling ahead of Nelson in round 2, 2008; and Daniel Thomas ahead of Randall Cobb in round 2, 2011).
We wouldn't even need to draft another WR imo.
Green Bay knows how to draft WR's. They have a very good offense and a top 3 QB in the NFL, for sure, but those WR's can make plays.
We really need to land some good WR's in the draft. Stop gap measures and aging, expensive free agents aren't going to build the team. They are important cogs but they will not be a solution to a position that has been flawed for years (even with Marshall it was flawed).
It's not just drafting a WR. It's drafting a good WR. That's Ireland's responsibility and he's yet to really do that (nothing against Hartline; he's a bonafide #3 or #4 NFL WR; that is all, though). Somewhere near the end of round 1 or top of round 2 there should be a few available.

Interesting question. Would anyone take any of Miami's WRs over Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, James Jones or Randall Cobb?
-
So would Philbin, that's why we need to steal Jennings.
-
Doubt if Aaron Rodgers could have much success with Heartline or Bess it would make Rodgers look like a mediocre QB no way either one of those two could help him.
Can't wait till next season I know there will be help added at WR for Tannehill in 2013. -
As much as I agree I do not feel Cobb or Nelson are #1 WRs, and that is our biggest weakness. They would be upgrades yes, but we would still be in need of a #1 threat at WR

Yes, the Packers have a great foursome at WR, one of the best ever seen perhaps.... and we were thin this year..... what makes you think a rookie is going to be better than any of the 4 packers Wrs are this year ? If we want to upgrade the position right now we have to sign a proven player.

It's a shame we did not pull off that trade for Jones, they where talking back and forth. We offered a 3rd and they wanted a 2nd, if I remember right?

Nelson has been banged up this year, but if the stats say Hartline had more yards then he must be the better receiver.

So really all three of those aspects are kind of a wash between the two. Hartline slightly faster, both about the same as route runners, Jones drops easy ones at a little higher rate but also catches physically challenged balls far more often.
Where I think James Jones separates himself from Brian Hartline is in his pure physicality and ability to run with the football after the catch. That's why from 2009 to 2012, James Jones has 34 touchdowns on 313 passes thrown his direction, compared to Brian Hartline's 6 touchdowns on 306 passes thrown his direction. The more versatile and physical player is going to tend to punch the ball into the end zone more often.djphinfan, ssmiami, Nomina #76 and 3 others like this. -
But what do I know, I am crazy :wink2:
