I think he will be a very good QB because he has great leadership I like beck also Im not giving up on him but Im not sold on him.I think we should draft matt ryan this will put us in a similar position that san diego had with Brees and Rivers.IT will only benefit us in finding our QB of the future.
what do you guys think?

In this video you can see the leadership I was talking about

It'd be a bit of an odder situation than SD had, because it was heading into Drew's 3rd year (as starter, 4th year overall) that Rivers was drafted. We have not come close to giving Beck the same amount of chances yet. Personally, I trust Cameron's evaluations at the QB position, and if he is comfortable with not telling Mueller we need to draft a QB early then great.
-
No.
Next. -
No QB until at least the second day.
-
-
QB reaches critical mass at the end of next year. Either Beck progresses nicely or we're looking for a QB with a probable top 5 pick.
-
-
one word: NO

I was at Shula's in Ft. Lauderdale after the game Sunday and happened to be sitting at a table right beside Shula himself (at another table, of course). I could hear everything he was saying, and I heard him say that he thought Ryan was the best qb in the draft. Just thought ya'll like to know that. It was cool hearing him tell stories bout the Marino days, talked about Jimmy Johnson some, the infamous "leon lett" game. Good stuff.

Matt Ryan will be a top QB in this League for a long time. Watch after the Combine he will be selected in the top Four picks. He is a player that you can built a Franchise around. Beck is not. The Dolphins will take a very LONG look at this player. In my mind there is alot to love about about MATT RYAN.
1. With no play makers at BC his production is outstanding.
2. Moves in the pocket to buy time, not to pull it down and run.
3. Big ARM! Can make every throw in the NFL.
4. The size. At least 6/4 220. Perfect, not injury prone at all. -
We are not taking Matt Ryan. He won't even be in the conversation.
At #1 overall, with the needs of this roster, we're looking at four possible picks right now: DT Glenn Dorsey, LT Ryan Clady, DE/OLB Chris Long, DE Vernon Gholston.
Darren McFadden has about a 1% possibility of being selected by us, but only if we trade Ronnie Brown. -
Agreed. But only if we trade out of the Number One spot. If not, You and everybody else better get used to the Idea of MATT RYAN or Darren McFadden. To me its simple these positions have the ball in there hands 50% of the offensive plays and a speical player can change an entire Franchise for years. LB's and DT don't get picked with the Number overall for a reason.
-
Matt Ryan will be great.... but we need defense BADLY. I take Chris Long with the #1 pick.
-
-
And McFadden... not as long as Ronnie Brown is still on this team.
If you want to see what loading up an offense while neglecting a defense badly in need of help will do to a team, look at the Cincinnati Bengals. -
Ted Ginn was the consensus pick for us at #9 last year, but then everyone over-thought the pick and thought we'd take Brady Quinn. Well, we were right initially.
An honest assessment of the roster and past statements of Cameron and Mueller show that there's just no need to take either McFadden or Ryan. Beck is the guy at QB, and Ronnie has proven that he's an elite NFL player at a position that is increasingly being considered plug-and-play.
Instead of mocking me for posting what I think and not knocking brent for doing exactly what I am, why not instead post an argument as to why we will be taking Ryan or McFadden? I'm all ears. -
I like Chris Long and Dorsey too. But look at this way. LSU will have at least 4 number ones on Defense including Dorsey and they could not stop McFadden at all. There was no passing game at ARK this year. BC likewise has no running game or any Playmakers at wide out yet MATT RYAN still is able to dominate. Compare Peyton Manning's senior year and what he had around him at Tennesse. Take a look at McPherson and his surrounding cast last year at Oklahoma. Both had playmakers around them.
-
Wont Ryan go top 15 with someone?
-
Desides - Point is that the Dolphins will not a take your Defensive selections without trading out of the First Pick. Randy took Beck correctly by thinking what alot of people thought. Beck is the same as QUINN. There is no comparism between QUINN/BECK and Matt Ryan. Hey if Randy and CAM knew we were going to end up with the first pick this year of course they would have passed on Beck.
-
We can take anyone and say they were at the top of our draft boards.
-
Why would the Fins take Ryan which would give them really 2 rookie QB's on the roster. Dont some of you realize what a stupid pick that is? Ryan is unproven and who knows if he will be a good pro QB. What a train wreck it would be if Beck beat him out in training camp and then you wasted a #1 pick.
Problem is that we havent seen enough of Beck to make a decision. That is the #1 reason they wont take a QB with the first pick. Worse case is we pick up a QB in FA to compete with Beck.
This team has so many other holes to fill first before looking at a QB. From everything I have read Ryan will go to Atlanta. -
Beck is who we are building this team around. If we take a look at a quarterback in the later rounds so be it. This draft is filled with talent at the QB position from top to bottom.
We need help badly on defense. I'd love to get Chris Long with the #1 and then get Mike Jenkins with the #32.
Let me add if Huizenga sells the team and the owner cleans house, he may bring in a new president that doesn't think Beck is our guy. Which may very will result in Matt Ryan or any other quarterback at that matter with our 1st rounder.
None of us know what will happen. Hell, many of us would've bet our lives on Quinn at #9. Only Time will tell. -

You guys keep talking about beck competing in training camp with a FA? What about Lemon? Do you think he will come back or will he go elsewhere? Honestly, I hope he doesn't come back, the guy can scramble really well but he is still too inconsistent. My nightmare scenario, is lemon coming back and beating beck in training camp, after not drafting another QB! We need to at least get someone in FA for sure. I like Ryan, he is tall, 6'4"" and has that reach to throw the ball over any defensive linemen. No tipped passes is what i'm saying.
-
Cameron and Mueller both had no idea who Beck was until one of the scouts brought Mueller's attention to him. Extensive evaluations were done, and it was decided that Beck was the guy--not just someone to take in a bad crop of QBs, but someone who could legitimately be a franchise QB.
They really and truly believe Beck is the guy. -
-
-
Regarding Ryan and Beck: Ryan will be a very good NFL QB, but Beck's the guy. Cameron and Mueller extensively scouted and selected Beck. We know they didn't just look at the list of QBs likely to declare in the 2007 draft, too, because they discovered Samson Satele while scouting Colt Brennan. It's extremely likely that they scouted Matt Ryan before the 2007 draft, yet still went with Beck.
Ryan and McFadden are going to be great professional football players. They just won't be great Miami Dolphins players. -
-
And, yes, Cameron and Mueller believe Beck is capable of being the franchise QB Miami needs for the next decade. That's Beck's only real downside: if he pans out, we'll "only" have him for 10 years. But I prefer 10 years of great QB play to zero years of great QB play.
