While you could imagine the seat getting hot if they flamed out this year you can't really expect a different coach to get more out of Tua and Tua isn't going anywhere.
If a change ends up needing to be made its someone else calling the plays and nothing more.Irishman, danmarino and Tuanon4Life like this. -
Hes earned it. Our franchise has not looked better since the mid 80s.. there were later years we made playoffs consecutively, but not with as much direction as we have now.

By extending McDaniel, the team has said it has confidence in the player development and success the team has had. Will every season be a bed of roses? Every rose has its thorn just so long as our bed of roses doesn’t become a briar patch, McDaniel should be in Miami for quite some time. -
This is the same FO and owner that people have been complaining about for years, right?
Don't read more into this than intended, Dan.

I’ve complained about Grier
I’ve called for their heads.
So
Did it take a number of failures before they got it right?
Were they just unable to get the staff they wanted?
Were we fans just so overly critical? A combination of the above?
Unless the Dolphins utterly FLOP this year and the following, I think we have the coach that can lead our team for the next decade at least.
Let’s not point fingers at who said what, when. We’re winning, we’re happy, FINS UP!!!!resnor, Tuanon4Life and djphinfan like this. -
As for the rest of the FO, there’s criticism that needs to be dealt out, but that’s true for any FO.
I guess I’m not sure why you’re whining about what I may reply to your post. You typically only whine when you’re questioned about your asinine posts. -
I think it's great McD was extended. McD + Tua (thus far) looks like the type of HC + QB combo no Dolphins coach except Shula successfully put together.
Main concern with McD is who the DC is. He gets that wrong we'll be one-sided and never win a SB (except by luck), he gets that right we're a perennial contender. Shula never got it right after Arnsparger left and wasted a lot of Marino years. Hope McD doesn't make the same mistake. -

Not bad for a guy who doesn't project as a leader of men. But seriously, McDaniel's and Tua's contracts reflect the 20 year void of consistency we experienced since Marino hung up his cleats. Tua got his bag because his market might have been less than we paid to keep him, but his value to the team is at/above what he got. McDaniel could leave tomorrow and have a new job by Friday if he wanted. There's genuine excitement about Miami, even if both are mentioned in regard to what they haven't achieved instead of how well they've performed. I'm glad that we can quibble about the fine points of what determines a success as opposed to going into the season just hoping that something works in our favor for us to finish with a winning record.
Good for Coach. Good for us, too.Irishman, Tuanon4Life and danmarino like this. -
One thing that irks me is the media bias against the Phins and Tua.
For example, Lamar Jackson is hyped by the media as some sort of god. Since he was drafted the Ravens have been in 7 playoff games. In one of those games Jackson was injured and didn’t play. Out of his six playoff games, it took him until his 3rd postseason game to win one. Out of those 6 games the Ravens are 2-4, he’s posted a passer rating of over 78 once. All 6 of the games played were in Baltimore. His postseason passer rating is a paltry 75. He’s completed only 57% of his passes with 6 TD’s and 6 INT’s.
Somehow, and even though this Dolphins team has had their HC for only 2 seasons, have back-to-back playoff appearances, and Tua has only played in one postseason game (against the same team that beat Baltimore last season in the playoffs and went on to win the SB) are somehow labeled “chokers”, along with Tua who is labeled as a guy who can’t “win when it counts.”
The Bills, media darlings over the past several years, with Allen (another media darling) haven’t fared much better going 5-5 since Allen has been QB with 7 of those 10 games being at home and the 3 away games being losses.
And let’s not forget about injuries.Irishman, Fishhead and Tuanon4Life like this. -
After barely beating Jacksonville in week 1 , last night's horrible performance against the Bills, and back-to-back late season collapses, it seems obvious to me that as a head coach McDaniel is in way over his head and I expect he may get fired before the end of this season.

I used to be on here all year round now mostly only spend time on here during games. I don’t listen to podcasts, play fantasy or pay for Sunday ticket anymore. I don’t support the team or nfl with anything other than watching whatever games they put on. No tickets merch etc. if the Dolphins, Seahawks or Lions don’t make the playoffs I probably won’t even watch.
As long as the dolphins have Tua, Grier or McDaniel this will continue. -
Sorry but I see noway anyone can defend McDaniel here when he is 0-6 against the Bills and 3-10 in national games.
Flores won 9 games with half the talent this team has.
Tua,Hill, waddle also do not show up for these games.I have never seen a team beat up the lesser teams and then get smoked time and time again when they play the playoff teams.
Unless we get a miracle Brock Purdy pick in next year's draft we will be on our way to 30 years of a playoff win drought as.25 is most likely already guaranteed.resnor likes this. -
In reality you’d see that there are two people I call trolls and 2 people here that I don’t get along with, but that’s what you’re deciding to talk about after being here for a day? Riiiiight…Which one of them are you?Irishman likes this. -

This team had to win this game.At home bills had to travel on short week and you get this performance And the dumb *** qb tries to.play hero ball lowering his head instead of sliding and pretty much killed our season.
The Bills had numerous injuries on defence and could not take asvantage as usual.
Unless Thompson surprises us all the season is probably over. -
