Reports say "at least" 3 months he'll be out, which means he's not expected back by the Week 1 game.

Pouncey out 3 months/ Hip Surgery
@AdamSchefter: Dolphins Pro-Bowl C Mike Pouncey underwent hip surgery today and is expected to miss at least three months, per ESPN sources.
5 new OL week 1.

I'm guessing the opening day starter at center will end up being Sam Brenner. I don't think as highly of the UDFA Larsen as some here do. Not that I think that highly of Brenner either but they liked him enough that they bypassed Dallas Thomas and put Brenner out at left guard as a rookie in 2013 so that's a pretty positive sign as far as what they think of him.

The "offseason program" could mean anywhere from February to last weekend.

Tore the labrum in his hip "sometime during the OTA sessions".
-
Of course. Of freaking course.

Albert Breers says his understanding is the hip labrum was bothering him throughout the spring and he decided to get it taken care of, for long-term stability.

Andrew Abramson reporting that the team felt the injury was "not serious" and thought he was fine during the recent mini-camp.
Evidently, Pouncey disagreed and he may now need to start the season the Physically Unable to Perform list, which means he would have to sit out at least until Week 7.

Anyone remember good news, or nationally positive reception this team has gotten in the past 6 months? Anything since the Patriots win?

So, moving forward:
Center Options include:
1. Brenner
2. Larsen (short arms; rookie; inexperienced)
3. Shelley Smith (who was used at Center several times in the recent practices - if Billy Turner came on, that could further precipitate a move of Smith to Center).
4. Signing another player - Those listed as free agents in Sun Sent: Satele (Colts); Kyle Cook (Bengals); Velasco (Steelers); Gandy (Lions).
5. Trade.
- I could see us making a pre-training camp trade or signing one of these guys above to a small one-year deal. Would love to land new center and let Pouncey go. Great talent but such sketchy person.dirtywhiteboy, DPlus47, DOLPHAN1 and 1 other person like this. -
I just hope injuries don't give Philbin another get out of jail free card.
Who am I kidding? Ross will probably keep him through his deal next year anyways with Hickey... -
