As far as mcd goes, while there are some issues with his situational playcalling that are obvious at this point. I think you have to look at him like a young player with talent who you believe will project to a higher level, you've got to stick with him and let them learn from the lows, the experiences, to reach the highs.
im not 100 percent confident that his method of coaching will work and I wish he didn't cuss as much as he does when he communicates, but there is too much raw talent to not allow his process to unfold.

He and the QB are the youngest and most successful marriage weve had here at the 2 most important positions in the organization in decades. People need to learn to love it and get the heck outta the way.

I find it absolutely hilarious that there are some pundits pushing a narrative that he is on the hot seat.
Second year coach, two playoff appearances. Lost Tua last year, almost won the game anyway with a rookie. And this year with a decimated defense and an OL that just can't stay healthy along with injuries to the skill guys. And they still have a good chance to win vs KC.
Mike should be given an extension this off-season -
If the team indeed "takes on the personality of its coach" as they say, I think there is a question whether McDaniel has the capacity to instill a personality into a team that's consistent with winning in the game of football. McDaniel's personality is not going to change, and being a goofball isn't consistent with winning in the game of football. He may have been promoted to his level of incompetence.

and “promoted to incompetence?” 2 winning, playoff seasons? How quickly we forget what Dolphins incompetence looks like.Puka-head, Dol-Fan Dupree, MrClean and 4 others like this. -

Everyone that he's interacted with, players, media personnel other coaches say he's a leader and inspiring. I guess you're used to leaders who yell and scream and are all discipline ( like BB). It's a bit old school. Since you haven't seen a leader like this you might take that as weakness. None of the best leaders I've ever known were the screaming authoritarian type of person. He led them to wins in 9 games last year and 11 games this year. He has the respect of the players. It would seem that he's moving in the right direction and not the other way around. You people are total comedy. -

Going off memory...What is his record vs the AFC East? 4-0 vs Pats? 3-1 vs Jets? 1-4 vs Bills with 3 competitive losses. Solid record all things considered.

You call that competitive? And the second one, the score made it look competitive, but it really was one sided in the second half.dolphin25 likes this. -

Dont have a problem with him as a coach. he seems to have players who love him which means they will by in. The problem is he's still young and hopefully get better. However Im worried that things could turn south on his style and carefree attitude could lead to players second guessing him over time.

If your assertion is he can’t be or isn’t a good leader simply because of his small stature or intellectual appearance, then this is one of the most belittling offensive posts I’ve ever read.dolphin25 likes this. -

I’m just saying I’m still in on him as coach. He’s very young and learning on the fly. He’s better than most we have had and I’m willing to continue the experience. I do have some offseason thoughts I will be posting but we’re in playofff mode and don’t want to distract from that.

I think its way too early to want to get rid of a HC who’s got 20 wins in his first 2 seasons as a HC. Seems like anything, he would have to get better with experience and learning from mistakes. If his teams continue to collapse at the end of the season over the next couple years, then we have something to talk about.
Next year will be tough managing salary cap hell, so we’ll see how well he coaches these players and if they make more strides on both sides of the ball in year 1 and 2 of the respective sides of the ball. I’d like to see us add a legitimate TE to add another layer of this offense. That or we have to find a 3rd WR who can step up when Waddle and/or Hill are out.dolphin25 likes this. -

McDaniel doesn't want to win, he's just lining up his second career as a standup comedian.

Crash is obviously in the 55+ age range and still thinks it's 1977 in the NFL.
