This only a rumor so take it for what it is worth. I do not have a lonk but do have a little backround. I played two season for the Oakland Raiders and developed some friends even though I was the 4th string Tight End. I attended the University of Maryland, and despite being a middle of the class College football team we have produced some good players in the league such as Shawn Merriman, Vernon Davis, Kris Jenkins, Randy Starks, Leon Joe, Eric Barton, Dominique Foxworth, Shaun Hill, and Madeui Williams to name a few. Word travels fast between NFL players. I cannot name my source but I guess you can catch te drift.
I am being told that the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys are talking about a trade which would send Bobby Carpenter, Roy Williams, and Greg Ellis to Miami in exchange for Jason Taylor and get this .. Ted Ginn Jr.
I hope to go that this does not happen. We need WR's and losing our best one would not help us at all. I do not like to post rumorsbut thought this was very interesting. The only reason I posted this is b/c this same source told me that the Dolphins were higher on Culpepper over Brees a few years back, knew that Cam Cameron was going to be fired, and has aniled some other things.
Time will tell..

First Chambers, then Ted Ginn Jr?
If that happens, I will just stop buying jerseys... :tantrum: -
I just got an authentic Ginn jersey myself. I hope that it doesn't happen. I thought Parcells would be high on Ginn Jr.
-
-
This would be truly horrible...
Ginn is one of the few offensive weapons on the team right now, and I'm really excited to see him play this year. I know the defense still needs some work, but I don't like this trade at all!Tone_E likes this. -
This trade would bow big time. We need Ginn. I could not even fathom Wilford as our one (Although I think hell be a solid #2) and Hagan as our 2 with no proven depth. IMO Taylor for Williams and Carpenter would be much better for us.HULKFish likes this. -
No way we dump Ginn. Parcells Loves Terry Glenn and Ginn could easily be a more explosive Glenn. When he played last year he played well. He didn't drop balls, he was open a lot but wasn't thrown to. Ginn Stays

And Glenn cannot be traded I believe because he has not passed a physical yet. -
Does Ted Gin Jr have that value? That seems a little one sided in favor of the Phins.

We dont have a font big enough for me to tell how I feel about this rumor. So I'll just contain my rage. If this proves to be true, I will most likely cry for 13-18 hours, maybe more. Roy is garbage. Bobby Carpenter is ok, but he's not worth giving up Ginn and JT. We better be getting some very high draft picks with this deal.

I think he does, he has boatloads of talent that have yet to be put to use. Last year he was brought along slowly and was never properly used IMO, Miami rarely tried to utilize his speed and even if we did, we didn't have a QB with the capability of hitting him deep (Beck could, but the playcalling was extremely bland by that point). Ginn showed his talent as a returnman, I think he could be top 3 if our ST blocking improves. Last year I watched Hester routinely get 4 and 5 man escorts into the endzone while Ginn was ducking and weaving the minute he got the ball because defenders were on him like flies on ****.
The value is there, he just needs to be used properly. -
-
I realize its a rumor but it makes PERFECT sense. Anyone who thinks this is totally out of the question need only look at us trading LoBook under value. Ginn is of the same mold. Hes a speed guy plain and simple.
I hope to L. Ron Hubbard this trade doesnt go down like the rest of you, but I wouldnt say its completely bunk at all. -
-
The Terry Glenn comparisons don't apply IMO. Not now anyway. Ginn, while fast, seems to take awhile to get there. I haven't seen the agility and change-of-direction ability yet. I want to see him consistently run good routes and beat press coverage.
What he does do well is catch the ball with his hands. He's a natural. And he did improve each week.
I don't know where this would leave us at WR. We're pretty bare to begin with. Glenn is not an option IMO because he's still having knee problems and can't practice.
I'm also not sure who will return kicks.Motion likes this. -
At long last, my dream of becoming a Miami Dolphins receiver despite my 4.9 speed and average hands is finally beginning to look like a possibility!

No they did not get that wrong. My source clearly told me that the Miami Dolphins medical staff told them to go Culpepper over Brees. They hit that one on the head. They are 75-25 in their predictions. Again, I clearly stated this was a rumor but it makes sense. Parcells has shown he wnats his type of players and who is better at that role than the players he drafted himself. Ted Ginn Jr. is a small burner and maybe that has Parcells willing to move him
-
if this happens, i'd be very pissed......... I really like ginn and think he will be a good to great receiver for us.
-
Roy Williams? Sweet. Just make it easier for Edwards, Brady and Clemens to sling it down the field in South Florida / Buffalo / Foxboro / East Rutherford.
I find it hard to believe Parcells would be interested in aquiring that waste.
Ted Ginn Jr. dealt already? Blessing in disguise. But Carptenter? Has he seen the field minus Special Teams plays yet?
I think Miami should just do Ellis for Taylor and leave it at that. The rest of the deal just doesn't make any sense. -
This regime obviously prefers size over speed. Like I said Im a Ginn fan and hope this deal doesnt go down, but I wouldnt be at all surprised if it did.
Sidenote: Funny how JT getting traded is secondary to Ginn. I know we all expect him to be gone but its still ironic.Last edited: Jun 4, 2008 -
Ginn Jr. has a ton of value . The guy is a special team ace who will only get better. he is the 2nd best return man in the league besides Hester. A bit premature for me to say but that is what I truely feel. In Dallas' offense Ginn Jr. would be AWESOME! He could play the slot and give Romo yet abnother weapon.
like2god, I see no way this trade benefits Miami more than Dallas. The Cowboys would get the better end of the deal.
A blockbuster trade I would prefer would be Jason Taylor, Ted Ginn Jr., for Bobby Carpenter, Greg Ellis, Roy Williams, and Anthony Henry. That trade I would be all over. -
Ted Ginn jr. is a major factor to our team IMO. He effects 2 phases of the game and will be evry hard to replace. We have no WR"s as it is. Please No.
-
By the way I spoke to Randy Starks last week and he is excited to be a Dolphin. I told him about the site and he said he would check it out. He said that the Dolphins will be much better than advertised.

edit:SCREW THE 5 CHAR RULE!!! -
Ginn was not a bust anyway you look at it.WRs take a couple of years to develop and he displayed good hands and potential .
And he didnt get much blocking help in the runbacks .
I think we are only scratching the surface of what he can do.I would be very surprised if he is traded .
He is our only player we have that has that x-factor ....the player that can stretch defenses so that others can get open.
I would hate that trade. The only player worth anything IMO is Greg Ellis .A very unequal trade IMO.
Take away Ginn from the equation and it begins to look better.MelbournePhin, MonstBlitz and Phinperor like this. -
id be disappointed if that happens... Ginn has shown he has all the tools to be an impact WR...
i really cant see it happening though, taking the unnecessary cap hit to get rid of our best WR, a position where we have ZERO depth... just cant see our front office doing something so dumbCrunchTime likes this. -

We'll see how he does in 2008, maybe I'm judging im too quickly, but for the 9th overall selection you should expect more than what you got in 2007, especially when you passed up on Brady Quinn. -

Maybe this is why there were so many reports of us telling different UDFA's they'd be battling for return duties. We were all assuming it was to allow Ginn to focus more on being a number 1 WR...
But, maybe they don't think he is ever going to be a number 1 and feel they could get more value from a UDFA returner and getting their "big" WR later. Who knows...but, it's not impossible IMO. I hope there would be some draft pick in there at least. -
