Do we have the money to bring back UD, Chalmers, Q, Dorell if we go the Max/Junior Max route?
-
I would say NO on Que though...Que has value and if we do what I suspect we will do (Sign Raja Bell) Then Que won;t be needed and he will get around 3 mil a year which is alot for a 8th man.. -
Had an interesting conversation with an interesting person today.
All I'm going to say is, "Bye Beasley."
Surprise. Our top target going into free agency isn't even a free agent. Chris Paul will be discussed and pursued heavily. Darren Collison as well. Hornets will move one, preferably Collison, but only if they can get another team to take on Peja and/or Okafor. This works for Miami in a Michael Beasley deal with Cook and/or James Jones included, as taking on Collison/Okafor would still allow Miami to sign a max free agent and have around mid-level money remaining to fill out the roster, but this also gives us two starters.
Imagine walking into training camp with Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh/Amare/Boozer, Emeka Okafor, Darren Collison, Udonis Haslem, Q-Rich/Dorell, Anthony, minimum guys like Raja Bell, and perhaps a mid level player.
It's a scary though.The Rev and Section126 like this. -
New ownership coming in for New Orleans is the reason why they might be willing to move Chris Paul. People around Chris Paul believe that he truly wants out. If you want to talk about the Wade/LBJ friendship which is the only reason why we're even connected to LBJ (which won't happen), make note that Dwyane Wade's best friend in the business aside from Q-Rich & Dorell is Chris Paul.
Ultimately, I think they move Collison instead. But it would not surprise me if they keep Collison (younger and cheaper) and completely rebuild/wipe out pay roll by moving Chris Paul, especially if he requests a trade which many believe will happen. -
I have heard the Chris Paul thing.
if we do it...we have to abandon any junior max discussions for a SF. but we will have to explore shooters...Korver?
It changes the makeup of what our lineup will look like to close the 4th quarter. -
I dont like the idea. I love CP3 but I think we need a big to go with Wade.
-
Which imho would be 50% of the Heat's battle, they need an inside presence with JO appearing to be d-o-n-e and UH more of an auxilliary player.
Meanwhile, I'm waiting to see if Sect's 2009 prediction that a "lost" season, a non competitive one, leads to two MAX FA's, or whether DWade's vow that "this is the last first round playoff series I lose I can tell you that" holds true if the Heat are shut out this year.High Definition likes this. -

All I am saying is that adding CP3 kills any star SF designs such as Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson. -
it was not a prediction. it was me with a calculator and the espn trade machine page. In case, you forgot, I was proven right two weeks ago when the NBA released their Cap figure and Andy Wojo proclaimed the heat as the Kings of free agency.
Get real Padre. There are no monsters under your bed. 2 + 2 is always 4. -
The options are these:
Trade Beasley for Paul = Paul, Wade + MAX +MLE.
Trade Beasley for Nothing to facilitate another deal= Wade +MAX + MAX or Wade +MAX + Jr. Max + Jr. Max (in this case, there will be a danger of overpaying for somebody)
Do nothing, and just go into free Agency = Wade + Jr. Max + MAX
Jr. max candidates are guys that are willing to take 5 years 50 million or so...
It will depend on the market.
best Path is to trade Beasley to Memphis and get Rudy Gay back out at a decent price of around 5 years for 65 mil, and try to grab a Conley out as well. We woudl then still have enough to get Amare or Bosh, and then have the MLE to split as well.Ludacris likes this. -
I know Heisley is cheap, but he may want to try and keep Gay. Memphis is a team on the rise. -
Not trying to hijack thread but I have heard similar things about Paul being available (and being linked to Cleveland for the same reasons as Miami - he is Bron's best friend in the NBA).
Obviously Miami makes more sense but thought that two different teams are hearing the same rumor lent some credibility to it. -
And it was a prediction Sect, this season was to be sacrificed for two MAX FA's which of course I found laughable in view of DWade being a FA as well.
One was certain that MAX money would keep DW in Miami, my contention was you cannot do that to a ultra competitive player, they want to win at all times and would be less than thrilled if they thought the FO was not on that same page.
And Shinn WILL peddle Chris Paul, G Shinn is just a skinflint, I'd like to see CP in Miami, but they need a inside presence who can score or they will be the Mavericks moving forwards..tons of jump shots.. -

As for Beas, don't hold your breath, in 2 yrs he hasn't shown that he is ready to play Big Boy basketball, why take on that sort of contract for a player who doesn't do anything particularly well? -
-
For the last time...it is like a broken record.
the Miami HEAT..is the ONLY TEAM.
as in..5, 4,3,2,........1.
ONE TEAM. THE ONLY TEAM..as in CINGULAR..TEAM that has a MAx FA on the roster to resign and can add a MAX free agent. and if that is not enough..they still have enough left for a Junior max contract as well as a chip to trade in Beasley.
me and HD PREDICTED THIS 18 months ago. it became a reality two weeks ago with the NBA's announcement.
it is a wrap...why do you think a OFFSEASON has a thread? -

In Chicago..there is one lonely tear coming down the face of a Bulls fan.Frumundah Finnatic likes this. -
I want DWade to have another shot at a title or three, but throwing away 2 seasons is not conducive to keeping him in Miami.
Keep in mind, he opted out of his last yr on his contract, now when they bring in FA's until Wade signs they will not be 100% on Wade being here, there are a number of problems such as that in Riley's plan.
FA's may not wish to be second fiddle to Wade, they may think their game and Wade's won't mesh, they may wish to play with Lebron and take less money, there are a number of things that can go wrong with throwing away 2 seasons based on assumptions. -
The Lakers threw away 4 seasons. the heat "threw away" two.
he opted out because 22 million is more than 14 million padre. he has a brain in his head. seriously. come on.
NOBODY CAN PLAY with Lebron. Cleveland is capped out. WHICH PART OF "ONLY TEAM" don't you understand?
