I SO disagree.

I think it finally gives snaps to deserving young talent that was wasting away down the roster. Wallace looked great the other night, he's a physical freak and he is bottom strong. Let's get these guys some snaps!!!

Maybe now we can keep Naanee, Bess, Hartline, Pruitt, Wallace and Fuller! (unless Gates, Cunningham or Matthews show a lot).

Actually Cunningham may steal a spot, forcing one of Wallace or Fuller out the door... it WAS Wallace before Fridays game but Fuller is now likely on the hotseat.

 

I think when you're laughing your *** off, your eyes are closed so you can't see.

 

Opportunity and playing time , I am hoping for at least one WR to step up and forward this year. This scheme works for that/them and there is some nice size/speed/athleticism in that group.

 

With Chad doing the Head butt two step (clearly he's missed the Presidents message ... 1 is 2 many!) and Hartline playing at I'm hurt I'm hoping that our young guns step it up! Pruitt, Wallace, Fuller, BJ, and Moore all should get a chance to step up. There is speed and great hands in that group and I don't know if any will survive a move to the PS.

 

I honestly did not think Johnson improved our WR corp at all to begin with.

If he goes it gives more focus to the youth.

The only way our WR corp. had a chance to be solid this year is if one of our developmental players had a coming out party this year.
Hopefully that's Roberto Wallace!

I don't seriously think that CJ makes us that much better. We still don't know if the CJ we're seeing is the same CJ from 3yrs ago, so he's proven nothing....nothing at all except that he knows some hand to hand combat techniques that he used on his wife...

You say we'll officially be the worst if we cut him...well, we very well could be that with him... The thing we're all clinging to right now is a couple of the youngsters will shine...Chad is not our answer...only a fill in, if that...

Should we release him...I don't recall him having issues off the field in the past. I'm not condoning what he allegedly did, but as reported that in and of itself is not reason most NFL teams would dump him for, again assuming he's not had issues off the field in the past that. The thing is, if we do release him, I would hope it's under the guise that Fuller, Cunningham or Wallace are showing some signs to the staff and they feel that Pruitt and Hartline and Moore are doing enough...

Chad Johnson is a man of his word, if he says it he means it.. For those who watched the first episode of Hardknocks Chad was walking out the building and proclaimed he was going to get arrested over the Weekend, he just waited an extra week to do it.

CJ was a selfish aging washedup hasbeen with an attention-whoring problem and a lack of respect for mature authority figures. I'm not knocking his work ethic, but why not take a flyer on the young legs?

just cut him. end the drama early. let the young kids try and develop. it's not like CJ was the piece to put this team over the top and get them to the super bowl.

 

I was very critical of our wr corps, but a lot of guys showed up Friday. BJ jumped out at me. I think/hope the kid can play come sept. Some kids may step up like Wallace and gates too. And Naanee is having a beast camp and had a solid preseason outing.

Ocho gave me that feeling in my gut, that he will let us down especially when it counts. He is not a huge loss fortunately.

I think we might be dismissing him a little early. I mean Dez Bryant beat his own mother and got arrested and didn't get cut. I know that the young guys looked pretty good in the game but that was against the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string players. Underwood had a huge game against our 2's and 1 1/2's does that mean he is their best reciever??

The problem is that if the police are called for a "domestic violence" somebody is going to jail no matter what. If he really beat her I see him getting a felony.

I'm really fine with whatever we do, I think the guy can still play, but I would also be fine with letting one of these younger guys make the team and show what they got.

 

Marshall got traded for an alleged incident that he didn't get arrested for, Chad should be cut he's not worth the headache.

 

No he didn't. Marshall got traded because he was persistently a severe issue. He had police called on him repeatedly for this kind of issue, and was a huge ******* to his coaches and teammates.

This is the first actual behavioral issue Chad Johnson has ever had.

 

Our WR's were the worst even with Chad. It's not like he was any good anyways. It does however give guys like Hartline, Gates, etc. a chance to how anything before completely writing them off.

 

I think there's a good argument we're not even the worst in the division, much less the league.

 

I think you cut Chad for the simple reason that he's more about "me" than he is about team. You put up with people like that if they make your team a lot better despite their self-centeredness, but I don't think Chad Johnson offers that at this point in his career.

 

How has that negatively impacted any team he's been on? Him being silly and outrageous and having a desire to entertain doesn't have anything to do with this. At all.

 

Well I think that would be difficult to say, since we haven't been on those teams. I do suspect that his behavior creates a distraction. IMO when you're on a team, you try to blend in with your teammates and make sure your actions aren't detracting from (or distracting from) the team's mission. I don't see Chad Johnson as that kind of person.

Like I said, you put up with that if the person offers so much to the team that it outweighs his self-centeredness, but again I don't see him having that kind of ability at this point in his career.

 

I think we've had this conversation before, I don't think you're in a position to draw conclusions about anyone's personality. We know these peoples public personas, we don't know their real personalities. There are plenty of guys who are *******s, malcontents, wife-beaters, rapists, murders, and any number of things who don't present problematic public personas, and the only way we ever get a clue is until they are on the news. Chad Johnson has fun with his public persona, and holding that against him rather than what he's actually done isn't really fair.

At this point it's really an assessment for the coaches to make, I don't think we know one way or the other.

It's the silliness and outrageousness and desire to entertain that I'm talking about. That's an unnecessary distraction that at this point in his career isn't outweighed by his talent IMO.

Then when you compound that with criminal activity, it's a no-brainer IMO. He's already had to be talked to by the head coach regarding his press conference behavior. Anybody who wasn't so self-centered would be making sure he wasn't having to extend a first-year head coach into that area while that head coach was so busy trying to establish himself and his new team.

In the end it's a problem of Joe Philbin and company's having to waste too much of their time and energy on a guy who can't at this point compensate for that with his physical ability IMO.

 

This sums it up perfectly at this point. I was hoping he could have a big season, but its not worth all the extra problems if this is how hes going to carry himself. Take a flyer on the young guys indeed.

 

Chad Johnson's public persona is as an entertainer. That doesn't mean he's a bad or disruptive guy. Up until this point, he's been a good team mate and citizen through his entire career at least as far as what we can know. He works with other receivers, and he's constantly doing things like hosting dinners for people on his facebook, inviting random people to his wedding, etc. and so on.

The "entertainer" in him is what is pulling Joe Philbin away from other things to give him a talking-to about his press conference behavior. Is anyone else distracting the head coach in that manner? If so I'm not seeing it.

Now the distraction is a criminal charge and how that represents the organization, which is even worse than the press conference. Again, his physical ability doesn't outweigh all that at this point IMO.

Hell he was cut from New England after NOT acting like this! This is a no-brainer IMO.

 

I don't think Joe Philbin spending what looks like a minute or two talking to his coaches then to Johnson about the press conference on Hard Knocks can really be taken as a serious issue that he has to manage his time for.

 

The point is that Joe Philbin shouldn't even have to think about that. Joe Philbin should be dealing with professional adults who are capable of behaving in a press conference in a way that doesn't have to be disciplined.

Again, Joe Philbin is trying to establish a career and run a team as a first-year head coach. Any person who distracts him from that endeavor should offer something to the team that outweighs that, and I don't think Chad Johnson does at this point.

 

There's a cost and value to everything, and you're making an assessment on Johnson's value based on what is a problematic amount of data(Played poorly in New England , dropped pass in preseason game). It wouldn't be all that rare for a player his age to make a valuable contribution to the Dolphins at all.
