Just speculation from Evan Silva, but Colts looking for a CB. Is there any vet you would want from the Colts? Would you do Vontae for Freeney?

If he can consistently pull his head out of his rear and give 100% to his job Vontae can be one of the best in the league. I'd be mixed on trading him.

I dont like the idea of that. Vontae just needs someone to rip his head off and set him straight regarding his work ethic, and he needs to take more pride in his career and his abilities. I suppose having Richard Marshall here and playing well, does make someone expendable. While VD may be good trade bait... I dont think Indy is the best partner for us.

Could it be for a guy like Jerry Hughes plus a mid level pick, like a 4th or something?
-
Not to mention Vontae has been much, much better since early in camp.

Mathis and Freeney are both old as **** no thanks.unluckyluciano and Pandarilla like this. -
If I'm getting Hughes, I sure hope I'm getting a top 40 pick too.ToddPhin likes this. -

From what I have read in the Twitterlands is that Colts are taking to an anonymous team about getting a starter/vet at cornerback and they are willing to give a very high draft pick. Only time will tell who is the team, and what the actual trade is

If we trade Vontae for Jerry Hughes, my head will explode. And this is someone who LOVED Hughes coming out. But the guy has been ineffective in the NFL so far. Vontae may be a little bit of a knucklehead, but so was his brother. But once Vernon matured, and became focused... his crazy physical abilities made him into one of the best all-around TE's in the game (receiving and blocking for the run). Vontae is no different. When he gets it, he'll be one of the best all-around CBs in the game (covering and defending the run).
Dont let him off the hook. Ride his *** and be harder on him than anyone else (havent seen much of that from the DBs coach on Hard Knocks. Just soft talking to the side). But giving up on him early would come back to haunt us for years...unluckyluciano, Mexphin and Rocky Raccoon like this. -
Boomer was talking about this possibility in a Club thread a couple of days ago.Not many believed him.Props to him for the theory.

Might be a young wr and a linebacker for Vontae?
-
Just a note on the topic, if they traded Davis, that has to make re-signing Smith a must, no? And his leverage skyrockets.

Thread started about the possibility of trading Vontae Davis.
Thread turns into discussions on blumpkins and David Copperfields.Conuficus, unluckyluciano, dolfan32323 and 1 other person like this. -
On the surface, I wouldn't want to do it for the simple fact that it took this long for his brother to really turn the focus up IIRC.
There's no way I'd do it for Hughes considering we're now a 4-3 team.
If we trade Davis it better be because we're holding all the cards and can demand better value than what he's worth to us.
If Indy wants Davis's service this year but will be giving us a draft pick who won't be able to see the field till 2013, then it better be for a high pick. That's all I'm sayin.
