Cost us the game and maybe the playoffs. Can't call that with Rogers on the other sideline. Can't do it. If their D gets a sack so be it, you can't call that play and give Rodgers 2 minutes to beat you. Cowardly coaching by the Phins. Just can't play not to lose.

The 2nd and 9 play on that series is what cost them the game. Took all of 4 seconds off the clock and stopped the clock. No way Green Bay gets that ball back before the 2 minute warning. No Way. That makes me sick

I mean. There are a lot of things that happened prior to that play that.
Tannehill throwing the ball away was a poor decision. Taking a sack there is OK. The clock keeps running. Instead he throws it away, clock stops.
A run play there was a horrible call. I agree. Once Tannehill throws the ball away, you have to know you can't even take it to the 2:00 min warning. So, you have to get a first down because they have plenty of time. It was just terrible. -
I think Philbin has emotional issues. Seriously.ASOT likes this. -

Why did Philbin brush off Coyle prior to halftime. There seemed to be some discourse there. This is going to get ugly.

Fields's punt didn't help either. He's money until you NEED a big kick.
-
I thought the punt and offensive play calling were far worse than the time outs which I actually understood. Though I'd put the punt on the coverage. He got it down to the 20 abd there were guys there to make a play.
Coyle needs to go though. His brand of defense is just trusting the offense will shoot itself or that your defense can make one big play. He doesn't attempt to dictate the game. He needs to go ASAP.ASOT likes this. -
Its a bad call because they lost. We had been ripping off 10 yards a run play quite a bit. If we pass and tanny throws a pic, or even just incomplete to stop the clock, everyone freaks too.
The defense had played well all day. It almost worked. But the D couldnt make a stop on 4th and long or 5 yards out on last play.
Still has the overall feel of Offense letting defense down though. -
the third down run was fine. Probably one of the smarter plays of the last 3 min.
What happens if they pass on third and its incomplete again..... More time for aaron rodgers.
As it is they last play came down to 6 seconds. -
I am so ****ing sick of Philbin and his stupid, gutless decisions.
Tannehill was on fire in the second half, a first down there and the game is won. Instead he chose to punt. -

One or two plays go down differently and this is an entirely different dôlphins forum -
hi guys I am new here and have to say this game gave me a migraine the first half was no fun at all. First Lamar Miller ran ten yards back for a loss I saw a hole but he must not have seen it. we couldn't pass or run very good in the first half I think Tannehill and Philbin must go you cant win against good teams if you play one half of bad to horrible offense . sure the second half was a different story. nevertheless , we need to score more points in the first half.
I was pleased with Miller in the 2nd half but we stuggled to score points in the 2nd half . we have a good defensive line . but our linebackers and secondary seems suspect to me. -

Didn't they throw before that? I'm already trying to forget this s--t. But you don't go from throwing it to try and get a first down to then playing it safe. Make up your damn mind. Either play it safe with 3 straight runs to use even more time and get it under 2 minutes (which also would've made time run out for GB). OR go for a big first down on all 3 plays, not just the first two. Don't try both, it failed miserably.
Really what they should've done is run the ball on all 3 downs with a Miller/Moreno mix rather than throw it. Maybe you get a first down, if not you run more clock and punt. BUT if you're going to throw on 1st/2nd like they did, then do it on 3rd, don't clam up. You aren't playing Geno Smith.BSQ, LI phinfan, Da 'Fins and 2 others like this. -
the justification for runnng is to reduce the amount of time Arron Rodgers has to get the ball into the endzone. What do you mean there's no justification? Do you understand what happens when there's an incomplete pass? -
Except for that last defensive play to the endzone, that was garbage.77FinFan likes this. -
He's inconsistent, he's lost, he's unsure of himself and everything he does. Reminds you a bit of his QB doesn't it? I wonder why... attitude reflects leadership.speed likes this. -
I'm not happy with the run play, they already tried to pass on 2nd down so show some balls and ask your QB to win the game on 3rd down. You already know the defence is selling out so it makes it an even easier call.77FinFan likes this. -

Lazor should of had a counter or misdirection because if you watch it, they sold out on both plays with no regard for containment. -
It definitely is a trend with Philbin, that much is clear. He is defensive and has no (or suppresses) any killer instinct. Additionally, I think he's too detached. Probably his whole mentality/personality type. He'll be a numbers man, a theorist. He lives in his own world. That in itself isn't bad. Some of the world's best visionaries and adventurers are like that. The big difference is whether your own world proves to be the real world, and not a fantasy. Additionally, if you don't know how to connect with the real world more fully, especially in a team, that can be fatal.
For me, what I see, is a lack of faith in Tannehill. I don't think it's personal, he may not even be thinking about Tannehill specifically. I think he plays things out in his mind, according to his own rules, and makes calls. The problem is I don't think he factors in reality well enough, the specifics of any given situation. So instead of letting any faith in Tannehill override any general principles/plans, or despite anything that the opposition might have shown, he carries on detached.
So:
1 - Lack of killer instinct.
2 - Too detached.Da 'Fins likes this. -
Dolphins have a solid defense that held Aaron Rodgers in check for most of the game. Secondary isn't outstanding but it is certainly good, and the D-Line is a top unit. There is a strong running game. An improved O-Line. Tannehill is still a question mark, but they should still get into the playoffs with this team. Coaching seems like the big problem. -
You go for the win. Your QB was on fire in the 2nd half. If he hits a 9 yard completion you win the game. FOH with running there. -
"Until the final touchdown, Miami held the Packers to just 20 points, and the defense just needed to execute on a single play to walk away with a win. Instead, Philbin allowed the Packers to gain the advantage by regrouping twice, and with an all-world quarterback and deep receiving core, executing on a few plays isn’t as hard.
Philbin’s excuses and lack of accountability are astounding. The Dolphins have a talented roster, and their second-half performance should give the team confidence they can compete with almost any team in the NFL. But overcoming their head coach in the final 11 games will be a major challenge, if not impossible."

Without hearing any presses I already know philbin will lay the blame on the players for not executing rather than accepting responsibility for blowing the calls
He is not growing into his job and when they win its despite of him not because of him -
It is hours later and I am still fuming. You either go for the first down or you try to kill the clock. You can't do both! The minute you got cute on 2nd down and threw the ball and killed all of 4 seconds off the clock( 4 friggin secs!) you then have to try and get the first down on 3rd and 9. You don't gamble on the first two downs and then try to worry about the clock on 3rd down. If you had any sort of capable time management on that series, Green Bay gets the ball back with under two minutes to play with no timeouts and no two minute warning to stop the clock. Does anyone even tell Tannehill at that point that a sack is better than an incompletion? Isn't that part of what someone should be telling him in his headset?? It's mind boggling how inept we played those last few minutes
