Andrew Miller traded for Red Sox LHP reliever Dustin Richardson.MikeHoncho, Anonymous, Mainge and 1 other person like this. -
The off-season is looking good thus far...Edwin retained, Perry Hilly returning, Marlins working on a deal with Uggla, and Andrew Miller is finally gone :woot:

A bit early, but I don't see a problem with this.Mainge likes this. -
Yeah it was my best guess. Being able to lock Uggla should give us quite the offense

I'm actually not upset over this trade to be honest with you. I view it as a win/win, lose/lose, Hermida for Hunter Jones Part 2 type deal. It's obvious Miller was never going to be good with Florida and most likely he's going to be more the same with the Sox but why not try right? Especially since all they're giving up is Richardson, who the Sox really soured on because of decreased velocity (his FB sits around 90-91 now) and him not being able to throw strikes. If it was someone that had a shot at being good then yeah I'd be mad. This I view as one of Theo's projects. Again I don't expect much if anything at all but nothing of value was given up.
If the teams/roles were reversed I bet you Marlin fans would feel the same way (much like last year when Hermida was dumped). I also understand that Marlin fans are probably glad he's gone and that they at least got something back for Miller, even if it might just be a mostly minor league pitcher back. Better than nothing right?
Seriously though, how funny is baseball? If I were to tell any Marlin fan back in 2006 or 2007 that Jeremy Hermida and Andrew Miller would be traded to Boston for Hunter Jones and Dustin Richardson I'd get laughed off the boards. I guess it's an important lesson about prospects and not always believing the hype.BlameItOnTheHenne, Anonymous, Desides and 1 other person like this. -
Cameron Maybin traded to the San Diego Padres for relievers RHP Edward Mujica and RHP Ryan Webb.

I love the trade.

And yes, the Cabrera trade and every ramification thereof has been epic fail since day one. -

Makes me sick to my stomach. "Quantity over Quality" must be their ****ty mantra. :pity: -

There have been far worse. The value was about as good as you could expect. Like getting Longoria and David Price

Awful trades happen...when you're offered 2 top 10 prospects and some change for realistically 1 player, then you pull the trigger. Just ended up not working out.

Florida can't be serious about Cogs in CF can they? I haven't looked at his defensive numbers but I'm pretty sure he was below average in LF. Putting him in CF would just be a mistake. But hey if they want a CFer I'll trade them Ellsbury and Jose Igelsias for Hanley Ramirez.... Ok I'm awake now.
My best guess is that they end up trading Uggla for a CFer. -
Maybe they have something up their sleeve...cuz I really don't get it either. -

We’re sending a great message to our young players: get really, really good and we’ll send you to a real MLB team. Performance incentives, baby.

Whatever, the Mets will still be in the Marlins' rear view mirror by the end of the season.
And I'd rather just given Ricky another 1 year deal and make him earn the contract next season. -
Boik needs to lay off the Haterade. :shifty:

It’s not enough we gave the Braves a manager. We need to give them a strong bat, too?

Yeah, Infante? really? I know he was very good last year but he's also 28 and it took him awhile to hit well at the MLB level. But I don't mind Dunn...just not Dunn and Infante.
